AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:17 Then to Adam the LORD God said, "Because you have listened [attentively] to the voice of your wife, and have eaten [fruit] from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it'; The ground is [now] under a curse because of you; In sorrow and toil you shall eat [the fruit] of it All the days of your life. |
Bible Question:
If Adam and Eve hadn't brought sin into the world, would mankind had to have toiled for a living ? Genesis 3: 17, 18, 19, 23. |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, HollieRose, God told Adam "but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die" (Gen 2:17). It applied to Eve too, since she knew the rule (3:3). So people also ask if Adam refused to listen to his wife, what would have happened? We don't know ... but I wonder WHEN someone would have listened to Satan, what would be the results (cf Rev 20:7). To answer your question - there would have been no toil, since that was part of the result of sin. But God already knew that there would be sin. Searcher |
