AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity (open hostility) Between you and the woman, And between your seed (offspring) and her Seed; He shall [fatally] bruise your head, And you shall [only] bruise His heel." [Gal 4:4] |
Bible Question: Some Bible studies interpret this verse to refer to Jesus. I find this whole verse confusing. Can anyone give me furthur insight? Thank You |
Bible Answer: Hi Hallie, I go with the NASB on this passage when it leaves in lower case the word "seed". The style of their format leaves "He shall bruise" in question, but "he shall bruise" should agree with "you shall bruise him". So the word seed and the two pronouns of him I leave in lower case and do not think of them as Deity. I would say that everyone is at enmity with the serpent whether we are aware of it or not. We can bruise him and he can bruise us, but the important thing to remember is that he is defeated in the end because of Christ. Romans 16:20, "And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet." There is a difference between the bruises that we can inflict and the crushing that God does on our behalf.
