NASB | Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the LORD God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, "Can it really be that God has said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" [Rev 12:9-11] |
Bible Question:
Did Eve hear from God or Adam regarding not eating from the tree? She was not yet made when God told Adam. |
Bible Answer: You are right, the woman had not been created when the LORD commanded Adam not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. Yet it is clear that she knew the tree's identity from her conversation with the Serpent. The only answer to your question is that her husband Adam, concerned about her welfare, would have warned her of the tree's dangerous potential. Something to bear in mind: prior to the woman's disobedience in eating the fruit, her converstaion would not be deceitful, thus her answer to the Serpent's question displays both innocence and ignorance. |
