NASB | Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. |
Bible Question:
Is there any verse in the Bible that alludes to the Holy Spirit's being present at creation? I always believed that "the Spirit of God" in Genesis 1:2 was the Holy Spirit, but now I'm not so sure. I'm trying to understand whether I can build a case for the trinity being introduced at creation. |
Bible Answer: the word says in Gen. 1:2 ... the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Yes the Holy Spirit was present at creation, He is the executive arm of the trinty, so He is very active as God spoke the word of creation, look at Job 26:13 Gen. 1:26 Psalm 104:30, |
