Bible Note: llaws: Much of this "higher criticism" of Genesis' creation account flows from the poison pens of liberal exegetes in their inane and misguided efforts to pander to the disciples of secular humanism and Darwin's godless theory of evolution. I believe the web site www.icr.org has alread been cited on this thread, by Kalos, unless I'm much mistaken. I urge you to go there and spend some time on this site. It is the product of some keen Christian thinkers, scientists all, who devote their lives to researching scientific fact, pseudo-scientific theory, and biblical truth. The syntheses they put together based on their research and findings make for interesting and thought-provoking reading. ..... I've had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with the president of Institute for Creation Research (ICR), Dr. John Morris, and own a copy of the "Defender's Study Bible" annotated by his father, Dr. Henry Morris, president-emeritus and founder of ICR. I have been impressed by the quick minds of these two men as well as by their deep committment to the Christian faith. Additionally, I've read widely from the works of a number of other people on the staff of ICR and find their works rock solid and theologically orthodox. ...... I recommend without reservation that you delve into the materials available on line at this web site and, if you choose, to obtain also such books as the Institute publishes that may be of particular interest to you. Dr. Henry Morris, who is now approaching 90, has written a book a year for the last half century or so. ..... I've read your posts and truly believe that this icr.org web site may well be especially interesting and instructive to you. There are articles on yom, the Hebrew word for day, that likely will appeal to you. ..... The remarkable thing about true science is that the more advanced it becomes, the more nearly it comfirms what God said in the first place! I'm quite content to take what God said and stand by quietly while science struggles to catch up. I suppose that's one way of saying that I base my faith on God's truth and not on man's theory. --Hank |
