Bible Note: Greetings Assy! Welcome to the forum! If I understood your last two posts correctly, part of your answer was that were other people on the earth prior to the creation of Adam. Your last post quoted from Genesis, but exactly where in those verses did it say that there were other people on the earth prior to the creation of Adam? I can only assume that you meant that Gen. 1:27 was a different act of creation than the one recorded in Gen. 2. If so, please note what Genesis actually says. Gen. 2:1-3 completes the account of the creation of the Heavens and the earth. However, Gen. 2:4 does not go on to the eight day (so to speak). Rather, there is another statement made about the creation of the Heavens and earth. Gen. 2:4-5 says, "This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens? 5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground," Note the following comments: 1) The phrase "this is the account of" always opens a new section, and never closes a section. It is used about 10 times in Genesis. 2) The context of Gen. 2:4ff is sometime between the creation of the Heavens and earth and the appearance of: a) Shrubs b) Plants c) Rain d) or, Man. So, in brief, Gen. 1 gives us an overview of all of God's creative acts, while Gen. 2 focuses in upon God's creation and relationship with man. So, these are not two different acts of creation, but the same creative act examined from two different perspectives (as made clear by Gen. 2:4-5). If I have misunderstood your position, please let me know! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
