Bible Question: is jesus god? |
Bible Answer: Greetings, Y2J SwFl. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (See 1 John 4:15.) "Son of" means the personification of, or the embodiment of. I like to think of the incarnation of God in the person of Jesus Christ as the perfect expression of infinite Deity in terms of finite humanity. "[Now] He is the exact likeness of the unseen God [the visible representation of the invisible]; ..." [Col. 1:15a Amplified] "He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God's] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power. ..." [Heb. 1:3a Amplified] "For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]." [Col. 2:9 Amplified] "It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor)." [2 Cor. 5:19 Amplified] "Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!" [Phil. 2:6-8 Amplified] "By this you may know (perceive and recognize) the Spirit of God: every spirit which acknowledges and confesses [the fact] that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [actually] has become man and has come in the flesh is of God [has God for its source]; And every spirit which does not acknowledge and confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh [but would annul, destroy, sever, disunite Him] is not of God [does not proceed from Him]. This [nonconfession] is the [spirit] of the antichrist, [of] which you heard that it was coming, and now it is already in the world." [1 John 4:2-3 Amplified] Kind regards, Tim D.
