84 | Give me a little mor help on the hair ? | 1 Cor 11:1 | tgc | 123866
broreggie, The answer provided by signmanbob appears to be a very good one. The key to this passage lays in the last verse of 1 Cor. 11. Verse 16 sats " But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churchs of God. " Long hair or short hair it really does not matter. Christ was not thinking about hair as He hung on the cross, He was paying our sin debt and as long as we come to Christ on His terms He could care less how our hair is styled. With this said the points made in signmanbob's post about appriate dress at church is right on. If for no other reason than respect for Christ. My answer is not intended to be harsh but so many people get tied up on this passage without considering the last verse of the chapter which really sums it up. I hope this helps. How you are cut down to the ground, For you have said in your heart I will Ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congration On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the clouds, I will be like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit." Her is one of the main references although ther are others this is probly the most recongized. And it is clear that the reason for his banishment was pride. hope this helps. In The Love Of Christ, tgc

87 | What is rotten fruit? | Matt 7:17 | tgc | 122416
bstudent3, the lie of the Watchtower is letting you down in the light of the many reponses from God's Word . You have now drop any pretense of biblical reference and gone on a political rampage. As I have already shown you the stinking rotten fruit is the lies spread by the Watchtower society. The cancer it brings into the world. I personally have written a post to you sharing the truth of God's Love and his plan for salvation but you have refused not me but our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. So now I will have to take the advice of Jesus Christ himself and not cast my pearls before swine. I sincerly hope oneday you will wake up to the reality fo the lies you are following and come to Jesus in repentance trusting Him for your salvation His way not that of Charles Taxe Russell. I challenge you to look into the history of your organization and see it for what it is Jevoah's False Wittness. tgc
88 | Not e to mkm9 | Bible general Archive 2 | tgc | 122415
mkm9, Let me define for you what I mean by reproduce theirself. When a christan has grown enough in their faith that they are open enough to the spirit to follow Him in leadings others to Christ and decipleing them. As far as denominations go yes their are problems however there are benifits. One just has to decide if the benifits outweigh problems. For example within the SBC ther are many great works being accomplished that could never be done indepdently. For example the childerns homes the support of a very well trained and able to stay in the field missionary work. To name a couple. The other attractive thing about the SBC is that each church is independent unto it's self We all agree on the essentials of the Christan Faith and within that frame work agree to work together. But as I have said before if that ever changes I will be the first to leave. Hope your machine problems go away soon. In The Love Of Christ, tgc
89 | What is rotten fruit? | Matt 7:17 | tgc | 122282
bstudent3, A great example of a false prophet is all the Jws there track record on prophecies is perfect They have missed every one. According to The Harp of God 1928 ed. " 1799 definitely marks the beginning of the time of the end." Again from The Harp Of God "The time of the Lord's second presence dates back from 1874...." or how about Charles Taze Russell, The Time Is at Hand pg. 101 " The battle of tyhe great day of God Almighty Rev,16:14 which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth's present rulership, is already commenced." or how about Charles Taze Russell The Finished Mystery 1917 ed. pg. 485 " In the year 1918, when God destroys the churches wholesale and the church members by millions it shall be that any that escape shall come to the works of Pastor Russel to learn the meaning of the downfall of Christianity." or The Watch Tower July 15, 1924 pg.211 " The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by Scriptures because it is fixed by the law God gave Isreal. Viewing the present situation in Europe one wonders how it will be possible to hold back the explosion much longer; and even before 1925 the great crisis will be reached and probly passed." Now jump foward to Nov. 1, 1995 The Watchtower pg. 17-20 " Eager to see the end of this evil system, Jehovah's People have at times speculated about the time when the 'great tribulation' would break out, even tying this to calulations of what is the lifetime of a generation since 1914. However we 'bring a heart of wisdom in'not by speculating about how many years or days make up a generation....' This generation' apparently refers tothe peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ's presence but fail to mend their ways." How many times does someone have to make false prophecies to be a false prophet ONE how many has the Watch Tower Society made? Somewhere along the line I have lost count. What is the current date JWs are calling for Christ return. Oh I am sorry you think He is here now in an invisible form. However all of Scripture screams out against this. Walter Martinin his excellent work The Kingdom of the Cults makes the following observation on pg. 135. " A little longer and the world will behold me no more John 14:19 NWT For I say to you, You will by no means see me from henceforth until you say, " Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah's name!' Mat. 23:39 NWT These two passages in their repective contexts give no support to the Russellite doctrine of an invisible "presence" of Christ for two very excellent reason A. John14:19 refers to Chrsit's anticapated death and ressurection--the "yet alittle while" He made reference to could only have referred to His ressurectionand subsequent ascention Acts 1 ;9-11 before which time and during the period following His ressurection He appeared only to belivers, not the world or unbelivers, hence the clear meaning of His words. Jesus never said that no one would ever "see Him again in human form " as the Watchtower likes to make out. Rather in the same Chapter John 14 He promised to come again and receive yo unto myself; that where I am ther you may be also. The Bible also is quite clear in telling us that one day by His grace alone "we shall be like Him; for we shall see him as He is . So the Watchtower once more is forced into silence by the voice of the Holy Spirit. B. This second text Mat. 23:39 really proves nothing at all for the Watchtoer's faltering arguments except that Jerusalem will never see Christ again until it blesses Him in repentance as the Anointed of God. Actually the text hurts the Russellite position, for it teaches that Christ will br visible at His coming elese they could not see Him to bless Him in the name of the Lord. Christ also qualified the statement with the word until a definite reference to His visible second advent Mat. 24:30." A little off track maybe but it all points out that if tha apply the test of a false profit as given in Deut. the Watchtower definitely qualifies. You realize if we were still under the law all the founders of the Jw movement would have been taken outside the city gates and stoned. tgc |

Hank, Thank you for your answer and most especially your prayers. You are right this is a big job, but what we are hoping for is to head off problems before they come up. And yes I agree with all you have said about unity for the sake of unity. I was thinking of three major headings for this talk first Christ call for unity second How to maintane unity three different roles for different members in the body. Thanks for taking time to answer you have been agreat help as will your prayers. In The Love Of Christ, tgc |

Greetings Aixen7z4, Somehow I missed this post until today. You speak much truth in this post I will admit I love to take part in intellectual discussions, however I do check the board everyday to see if their is someone posting a question concerning salvation. My friend do not be discouraged in doing God's work. And remeber there is a place for intellectual debate remember iron sharpens iron. With this said I'm of the opion all of us on the forum who are disciples of our great Lord Savior and God Jesus Christ should give any post concerning salvation foremost attention. 96 | speaking in tongues | NT general Archive 1 | tgc | 122099
Seacher, Do not take this note the wrong way it is not directed in a mean spirited way at you. But here is the question I pose how important is the question of tongues? I have noticed that this thread is very active and growing all the time which shows me that there is a huge interest in this question but as long as we can agree that tongues is not necessary for salvation and that if an unknown tongue is spoke in a church meeting it has to be translated then checked by scripture then what is the big dael. I relize I have been very active in this thread and I am just throughing out something that has been on my heart. In The Love of Christ, tgc
97 | Is speaking in tongues a necessity ? | Acts 2:4 | tgc | 122093
Hank, Yes many of us are comfortable with our illusions however many people are mislead by all of the garbage that has slipped into our churches. With the Word Faith crowd having gained such a huge following and their ability through the TBN network to raise millions of dollars to spread their lies we must be ever viligant to be ready to give a reason for the hope that lies within us with gentleness and respect. To that end try to keep an open line of communication with people who have been hooked by the lies of false teaching and be ready to share the Truth of Christ with them at every opportunity. Another point of interest along this line is that many people re taken in by this type teaching because they do not really understand the doctrin of grace. They are still trying to earn their way into Heaven. Finally today people have always been seaking an experience something different something big there fore they are especially looking for this in the church and in some of these movements they are easily able to find it. Even if it is not real. Scripture tells us that in the last days people will not put up with sound teaching but they will heap up for themselves teachers to scratch their itching ears. In plain lanuage people for the most are going to go where they can hear what they want to hear. And you know and I know that the Gospel is offensive by it's very nature. Always remember that the greatest spiritual gift is love so let us go foward in love sharing the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to all who have ears to hear. In The Love of Christ, tgc |

Greetings Ken John, Overall I must agree with what you have posted. However consider this the sign gifts ceased at the death of the last apostle. And the passage in 1 Cor. you refer to " when that which is perfect is come" Couldn't that be the Bible. Just a thought Would like your input. In Christ Love, tgc
100 | Is speaking in tongues a necessity ? | Acts 2:4 | tgc | 122041
Jilliebean, justme is exactly right. Many in certain movements do make the claims you have spoke of. But let us look to God's Word for the answere. First let us consider tongues look up 1 Cor. 12 and13. You will find listed many gifts and Paul makes it clear that not everyone has the same gifts rather each one of us has different gifts so minstery can be carried on. If we all had the same gifts then there would be alot of things not getting done. The one gift we should all share is the gift of love. This is the one that will last. Many people go to church looking for an experience some big emotional event however God's voice is usually heard as a still small voice. As far as slain in the spirit there is no place in the Bible that this is supported. If you look up the references that the people who promote this use you will find that it is always the enemies of Jesus falling away from Him not belivers. An example of this is the mob in the Garden that falls back When Jesus answeres I AM. The phenomenon of slain in the spirit can be traced back to Maria Beulah Woodworth-Etter who died in 1924. She figured out that by working people into an altered state of mind and playing off their emotions and working off the effect of the fact people came looking for just such an experience this can be pulled off. For more information on this subject you can go to www.equip.org or pick up a copy of Hank Hanegraaff's great book Counterfeit Revival. I hope this Helps. In The Love of Christ, tgc
