86 | What is the existence of God? | Bible general Archive 4 | srbaegon | 226226
Hello PrinceNatty, We cannot trace an origin for someone who has no beginning. The eternality of God is well-documented in scripture. For instance in Exod 3:13 Moses asks God for the name He uses in order to tell the people of Israel. God replied, "I am who I am" and "I am has sent me to you" demonstrating God's ever-present nature. Also, Psalm 90:2 says that "from everlasting to everlasting, you are God" signifying there are no bounds to God's person or being. This is not an easy concept, but it's what the Bible plainly says. 87 | why did God harden Pharaoh's heart? | Exodus | srbaegon | 225929
Sorry for being slow in response. You were directed to Romans 9; I would also direct you to Romans 1. God makes himself known through both general and special revelation. Whichever way someone responds to that revelation will be in accordance with God's knowledge and plan. God responds to the person according to His nature and in line with His ultimate ends. So for Romans 1, God gives over (i.e. hardens) the one who stubbornly refuses the revelation to follow after his sin to its ultimate end. God did the same with Pharaoh. Steve |

90 | Why the brief genealogy V14-V30 | Ex 6:14 | srbaegon | 225312
Hello Azure, Moses wanted to firmly establish Aaron's and his lineage and subsequent right to act in the way they did representing God and Israel before Pharaoh. While the priestly line was not yet established as far as the narrative is concerned, the book of Exodus was probably written at Sinai or during the wilderness wandering when the priesthood was established. See John Calvin, Harmony of the Law (http://www.ccel.org/ccel/calvin/calcom03.iv.vi.iii.html#iv.vi.iii-p36.1). That is my understanding of the inclusio. Steve |

91 | looking for wisdom and sirach in bible | Bible general Archive 4 | srbaegon | 225287
Hello and welcome, Because Wisdom and Sirach are part of the Apocrypha, they are not found in any edition of the NASB Bible. Lockman Foundation has chosen to include in their Bibles only those books considered canonical from the early church fathers to the present. Apocryphal books were not accepted as authoritative until the a decision was made at the Council of Trent (1546) to include them. Steve |

92 | Why does Paul have two main sections in | NT general | srbaegon | 225254
Great question! Paul had much to tell and was never able to completely give the fullness of the God's work of redemption from Genesis to the cross. What he had not covered or needed addressing from what he had learned, he gave the doctrinal answer, then moved to application. It's an effective teaching method. Steve |

96 | A question about 2 john 9-10 | 2 John | srbaegon | 223890
Hello and welcome, First, the passage in question concerns those who come actively teaching Mormon doctrine. Reject them. Second, do not completely ignore other Mormons. Be cordial but firm in your position in Christ Jesus. You may also want to know how to deal with Mormons--effective ways to share the gospel. I have a friend who was formerly a Mormon who might be able to help. E-mail me (address is in my profile), and let me know if you do. Third, I recommend that you get a good foundation in sound doctrine. Find someone to help you through the Scriptures. Steve |
