82 | Help! Unclean vs clean meat? | Acts | Tamara Brewington | 204921
Dear LRP 2008, I came Johnny come lately to this question here, but let me help you out a little bit more here; Romans 14:1 - 11,13 - 23 Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purposes of passing judgment on his opinions. One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat,and the one who does not eat, is not to judge the one who eats, for God accepted him. Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person regards one day above another, another regardds every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does to for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God. For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself; for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ die and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and the living. But why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this - not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother's way. I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died. Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. for he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense. It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anythign by which your brother stumbles. The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is from sin. I think this clears it up; Paul says all things indeed are clean, but don't make someone else stumble in their weak faith if they see meant as unclean and eat only vegetables, have your faith to your self as long as your meat eating does not offend your brother you do well, but if your meat eating offends them, don't make them stumble, you stop being stronger in faith than your brother. So then if your mother-in-law won't be eating meat anymore her faith is unto God and she shall stand, and as long as she is not offended that you keep eating meat you stand strong in your stronger faith than hers and you keep eating meat and you shall stand to God in your faith because the kingdom is not eating and drinking but righteousness and peace. God Bless God's day to you, Tamara |

83 | When and where was the Pentecost? | Acts 2:1 | Tamara Brewington | 203983
Dear Sam, Penetcost took place in Jerusalem in a house, probably a big house, because Acts 1:12-15 says there were over 120 person gathered who were waiting. Then Acts 2:1-12 says they were still gathered in a house when the Holy Spirit fell. To add to that what happened was loud because they had to be heard outside as the text says that men hearing the sound came a crowd from outside came together where they were 120 or so were gathered inside. It is possible the whole shebang moved outside but the text doesn't say, but 120 plus is a whole lot to have in somebodies house in the first place and then that men from every nation under heaven showed up, well you get the idea... 85 | What do you think of Acts 5th chapter | Acts 5:1 | Tamara Brewington | 204730
HI happy 4th of July to you, Here you go; Acts 5:1-11 Ananias and Saphira were disobedient to the Holy Spirit and with held the full price of the land they sold to give to the apostles for distribution. A good view of how the church was functioning can be found in Acts 4:32-37 and Acts 2:43-47 where everyone was sharing all that they had and holding nothing back for those that needed land, houses, food, clothing, every material thing you could think of. The situation was that when a Jew became a Christian if they did not own their own businesses they were being cast out of their family and the family businesses as a result. Many Christians were poor and those who had were being directed to give those who had nothing. Barnabas is a good example of one who had enough to spare for someone who did not have enough to live on. The proceeds of sales of land and homes was also being distributed. The language in Acts 4:32-37 actually breaks down in Greek to pretty much this; :42 Every man diligently withdrew constantly devoting themselves to the Apostles for doctrine, for distribution with fellowship, for breaking of bread and worship. :43 Every soul by the Spirit of Life fear coming upon them by every means of awesome miraculous disposition and stupendous works of mighty miracles and powers kept on taking place throughout by the Apostles. :44 Every one that believed having faith present had needs the occasion of destitution requiring that all commonly share the distribution from employment as the occasion arose. :45 Every man whose possession was sold goods was required to part with them to every man through occasion of destitution. :46 Every man continuing earnestly persevering daily as one altogether with one accord in the sanctuary breaking bread from sanctuary to sanctuary did partake every man eating meat and nourishment with gladness and simplicity of heart. Because Ananias and Saphira lied to Peter and grieved the Holy Spirit, Peter confronts them and as soon as he does, God kills them dead at Peter's feet. Most commentators agree that they grieved the Holy Spirit and died an early death becuase of it but did end up going to heaven. Paul describes in I Corinthians 11 that those who do not judge themselves rightly bring judgment on themsleves and become weak or die (a number sleep). Acts 5:12-16 The apostles, by the power of the Holy Spirit, were working mighty miraculous wonders a the temple of Solomon, but the unbelievers who were of rank in the temple rendering their regular priestly duties dared not to associate with them, but the regular people held them in high esteem. And believers were being added daily to the ranks of the believers, so many so that the sick lay out in the streets on the street where Peter would pass on his way to the temple to preach and teach and his shadow was healing them all. Acts 5:17-32 The high Priest of the Sanhedrin and his associates, not the priests of the temple of Solomon, got jealous. They came and grabbed the apostles by force and tool them to jail. An angel came to them and released them telling them to go back and preach. The Sanhedrin council sent to the jail for them, but they were not found there. The Sanhedrin guards went and got the disciples peacably for fear of being stoned by the mobs of people gathered to hear the preaching and brought them to the Sanhedrin council. The Sanhedrin repeated their orders that the preaching cease and desist, but Peter says we must obey God rather than men and begins to preach again about the crucifixion and resurrection as witnesses of these things. Acts 5:33-42 The Sanhedrin were angered by this, but Gamaliel (Paul's teacher) gave orders to release them in case they were truly of God and not like the two insurrectionists that had come before claiming that God had told them to wage war on Rome leading the Jews astray. So then the Sandhedrin took Gamaliel's advice and had the disciples whipped, ordering them not to preach this message of Christ anymore. The disciples went away rejoicing that they had been persecuted for Christ and kept on going from house to temple preaching and teaching the Christ. Hope that answers the question. God Bless, Tamara |

88 | Jewish Holy Days | Romans | Tamara Brewington | 204798
Dear Lookinforacity, This was a real issue during the first century, I like this question Lookin.... I forgot to add God Bless you Tamara to the last post you just got, sorry.... Paul says this in Romans in answer to Christians in a mixed congregation of Jews and Gentiles who were facing this problem; Ramans 14:5-6,10-12 Apparently there were some who were celebrating the Sabbath and some who were celebrating on Sunday. In Acts we have a couple of instances where the disciples were meeting on Sundays to celebrate the rising of the Lord from the dead. However, it does not say that they did not also observe the Sabbath on Saturday. The early church saints were at first all Jewish and required that a non Jew become a Proselyte, take the vow, undergo circumsision, become a Jew first, before being allowed to be of the 'way'. We have accounts in Acts of the disciples going to the temple to worship and to preach and to teach in the synagogues and at the temple, that was where the disciples first were meeting, then came the church houses. They were all observing every Jewish holidays, they considered themselves Jews. As the church grew and became more Gentile Paul makes a point again and again for there not being a need to compel them to observe Jewish traditions, but the Jews in those congregations still did, hence the problems. The concern becomes now as it was then that whether or not Gentiles should be beholden to the traditions of Jewish worship in any form. Not now because of a perceived need to be legalistic, or the Law, but because our roots are all in Jesus and what He did and not in the Law and the Prophets to observe the ordinances created unto perpetuity for them. All these things you are considering are the ordinances for worship that stemmed from the Law and the Prophets and are representative of the covenants they were under. We are under a new covenant and have no need to be doing things that stemmed from an old convenant that never applied to us. We identify with the Jews in that we worship the God of the Jews and out of love for them revere them as being our true patriarchs. When you think about the significance of their Holy Days carefully I think you may see that they relate directly the covenants given to them. I do not think they would actually appreciate Christians observing their holy days along with our Christian days since they view us as worshipping a sorcerer and a blasphemer. I am not too sure they would see it as love, hypocrisy maybe, but not love. The reason we observe our holidays is because we worship Christ as the new covenant. We become one man with Jews when they become Christians. The OT saints are part of the same household we are in, but those who reject Christ are not true Jews in their hearts as Paul said in Romans 2. We demonstrate the Love we are told to have for the Jews by being a living witness to them of the forgiveness of the savior they reject and rejected. God Bless Tamara |

89 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | Tamara Brewington | 204924
Dear ChildofGod, II Samuel 12 In this passage David repents of what he did kiling Uriah and the Lord says that He will visit evil on the house of David and kill David's child. David got ver sick when the Lord struck his child and would not eat and he fasted and lay on the ground all night. On the seventh day the child died and the servants went to tell David and were afraid that David would do himself harm because he had been so distraught. But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; so David said to his servants, "is the child dead?" And they answered, "he is dead". So David arose from the ground anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he came into the house of the Lord and worshipped. Then he came to his own house, and when he requested, they set food before him and he ate. Then his servants said to him, "what is this thing that you have done?" "While the child was alive, you fasted and wept; but when the child died, you arose and ate food." He said, "while the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, who knows, the Lord may be gracious to me, that the child may live. But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him and he will return to me." Do you see that last verse? I will go to him and he will return to me? David is referring to seeing this child in the in heaven after David dies, as this is the only way he could see the child again, and receiving back his child in the life here after. We know this is so becasue we know David went to heaven when he died, so then the child would also have to be in heaven. Think about it a while, it will sink in. This is an allusion in scripture to what will happen to children, babies, unborn, anyone who has not reached the age of accountability would fall under the scope of this scripture. God does not hold a person responsibile to anything but the light He has given them to see His two Revelations of Himself by. Children are not able to grasp and be responsible for the two Revelations God has given because they don't have a concsiousness of having sinned before a certain age that varries from child to child. more to come |

90 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | Tamara Brewington | 204925
continuation Adults and children who are old enough to know they have sinned are another matter altogether. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, becasue that which is known about God is evident within them; for God has made ir evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not honor Him or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and theri foolish heart was darkened. This is called General Revelation. God made His power, His divine nature known to all men who have never even heard the gospel through what He has created. The entire universe, the stars the moon, the earth, the creatures are so wonderfully and awesomely made that man is able to see what God has made an internally know that there is a God who deserves worship. Man can look inside himself at how intelligently and wonderfully he has been made and functions and understand that there is a God who made him because God has made it envident. But men have decided to ignore the truth that they know there is a God and refuse to worship Him or give Him thanks. Every single culture that ever was worships soemthing because they know that there is a God. But because they are full of sin, they pervert that knowledge and worship gods, idols, self, things, creatures in every single culture, from the bush to civilizations to the jungle they all end up worshipping a false god and refuse to simply look into the sky and the jungle and the bush to see that there is one Holy God who made it all and worship Him instead. We are not talking about Jesus now we are talking about creation itself pointing to God. Where the light of General Revelation is, all men get to see God. And by that light God judges them by their response to that light. In every culture that failed miserably which is why the Bible says non may come to the Father but through Jesus. Special Revelation was first given to men before the fall and Adam and Eve rejected it. Special Revelation is all of the particular manifestations of God to particular men at particular times in the history of man. Adam first had miraculous experiences with God, they walked in the gardedn together and talked out lout together. Adam fell and that was no more between them. Then came all the patriarchs who had special miracles happen proving to them that God was there. Then the times of the Law and the Prophets and God kept on showing up doing miraculous wonders shwoing He was there. Then comes the most Special Revelation; Jesus Christ the Revelation of God, then comes the last Special Revelation - the God breathed word of the living God. It is only by this light that men will be able to come to God and be reconciled. God has justice - he requires payment in death and blood for sin, nobody deserves to live or go to heaven, no one at all. God has mercy - He chooses some out of every person who ever lived, who all run away from Him and head long towards hell - to be saved. This is predestination. God has perfect knowledge, and power and is every where, in the past present and future, He knows how His plan to save some will come to pass - this is foreknowledge. God has perfect justice, He chooses some to save by turning them around from their desire to remain sinners, and leaves the rest to freely choose to follow the road to hell because they rejected Him by whatever light they were given- this is election. Romans 8:28-30 Psalm 107:35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth and let the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord oh my soul. Praise the Lord! The Bible teaches that there is no such thing as people who do not know that God exist whether ever hear the gospel or not. They are held responsible by God according to the light they have been given. God is not obligated to save even one person and His justice in condemning all men is Holy. God chooses to save some out of every one as all have already rejected Him and are going to hell because God is merciful and His mercy is Holy. God saves the babies, the unborn, the young children all those who are not aware that they are sinning because they are not capable of understanding any light that He could give them, God is just and mercifull and Holy. God Bless Tamara |

91 | Does God make Himself known to all men | Rom 1:19 | Tamara Brewington | 203744
There is General Revelation which is given to all men that God exists; Romans 1:18-32 and man is responsible to know that God exists becuase the very creation is man's witness that God exists, so if you are an Aborigine you are responsible to God for believing in Him and worshipping Him even if you never hear the gospel. Only problem is man is so depraved that every tribe that has only received General Revelation go worshipping false gods as described in Romans 1. Then there is Special Revelation, the manifestations of God recorded through out the whole Bible and the scriptures which everybody else did receive, but which most will reject too. No one is exempt from having been given a revelation of God. So He has come to every man and woman before they die, they just deny that He is.

94 | total prosperity | Rom 10:9 | Tamara Brewington | 203746
The Bible does not teach total prosperity, it teaches to remian unstained by the things of the world and not to love the things of the world... I John 2:15-18. Don't be fooled by the teachings of the Anti-Christ. See Luke 18:18-27 for a parable about a man and his money. Jesus and the Apostles taught that money is seen as evil and not good. Be careful of wolves in sheeps clothing trying to tell you to find scriptures to stand on and to "name and claim" the promises of God. The Bible is to be stood on, but the Bible is not something we access and then go tell God I have come to appropriate my promises, because if I say them it will move you to act. Beware of people who preach that God has no power to act until you speak His word into your life, your tongue does not have more power than His will, or He is not God. |

97 | the power of our words | 1 Cor 4:20 | Tamara Brewington | 205073
Dear Kiarafuentes, I want you to consider this verse; I Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power. The revelation of Christ to man is given to us in words and the word of God is as powerful as a two edged sword dividing the joints and marrow. The word has the power to save and bring you into the kingdom of God, but that is done by the working of the Holy Spirit. But the kingdom itself consits not of words, but of power. The power of God Himself, the Holy Spirit power to enact God's word, the words do not hold the power by themselves. The words hold the power by the Spirit of the Almighty God who enacts them by His Holy and miraculous power. Contrary to popular Word of Faith teachers who abound on radio and tv, the Bible does not teach that the power of God resides in your tongue. This is a false doctrine that states that when you speak out loud the word of God, you are empowering God to act according to the measure of your faith. What you are asking falls into this camp of Word of Faith teachings. This teaching you are asking about states that scripture supposedly states that whoever we bless will be blessed and whoever we curse they will be cursed. This is based on a twisting of the scriptures. I am going to ask you, which scripture do you have that actaully says that you are to be careful because who ever you bless will be blessed, and whoever you curse will be cursed? I couldn't find it, perhaps you could enlighten me? None of the scriptures you gave come any where near saying what you claim you have read in scripture... The power of God is to curse and to bless, not man's power, God's. Speaking God's truth out of your mouth does not unleash the power of God into your life, or anyone elses life. God is not kept from acting until you speak of His power and unleash it, that is a false Word of Faith doctrine. The idea that you could bless or curse is to usurp the power of God and is a false doctrine. The idea that we need to be careful of what we say because of unbelievers is correct, there are plenty of scriptures to uphold that! Genesis 12:3a And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. God has the power to curse and to bless, not man. God's day to you, Tamara |

98 | Divorced Do Christians Get Married? | 1 Cor 6:9 | Tamara Brewington | 205401
Dear kwame adu, Note for john forgive me John, this deserves an answer... According to what you are saying she was not married at all when she had a child? You are both believers who repented of past sins? Am I understanding this correctly? You are free to be married! Is it not so my dear brother in Christ! We have been dialoguing and studying back and forth about what would happen if you were married before, got divorced and then married... Yours is not the case! Happy life for you! Be blessed my brother! Enjoy being head of your family and raising her child as you would your own! Here is for you; 1)Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (have a sacrificial love for your wife and put her every need first). 2)so that He (Christ) might sanctify her (your wife), having cleansed her by the washing of the word (teach your wife the Bible, study with her). 3)That He (Christ) might present to Himself the church in all her glory , having no spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that she would be blameless (you are preparing your wife for Christ by leading her, taking care of her, teaching her how to walk with you and God). 4)So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; (what ever you would do to ensure your own well being; feed her, clothe her, house her, send her to the doctor and the dentist; take care of her). 5)for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes it and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, (you cannot neglect your wife, she is one flesh as part of you, you have to take care of her with the same type of care Christ gives the church, in order to do this you will have to study Christ Himself and how He handled Himself in the Bible). 6)because we are members of His body (you are belivers together, each one of you needs the gifts of the other as husband and wife as part of the body of Christ). 7)For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh (you must not involve your parents, or her parents in your private marriage affairs of every day living decisions, do not go running to mom for advice on your marriage or your dad, go running to the Bible and the elders of your church when necessary for wise counsel, you are one person with her, not with your parents). 8)This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church (marriage is the closest relationship that a human can have after their relationship with God, you are one with Christ, second, you are one with your wife, treat the relationship as what it is, not a love relationship first and foremost, but as a covenant between God, you, and your wife in that order - all of God's covenants must be ratified and no covenant is ratified (made valid) until one is dead, all of God's covenants were ratified in blood by the death of the mortal participants -that is why Jesus had to die to bring in a new covenant and why He had to do it by blood - that is also why you will see that the Bible says a wife is bound to her husband until he is dead - the marriage covenant with God is not ratified until death and the shedding of blood (everyone's blood does sink to the ground at death) occurs, then the covenant with God has been validated, this is why it so very serious to break the covenant before death, it has not been ratified, made valid). 9)Nevertheless, each individual among you is to love his wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband (you are told again to love your wife). See Ephesians 5:21 as well - you are co-heirs of Christ, equal in inheritance of the things of God and you should give way to one another in all things. See Ephesians 5:22-24 you wife only has three things to be doing compared to your 9, the whole responsibility of how the marriage turns out rest on you, don't complain about your wife, get on your knees and go above your own authority over her and seek God's authority over yourself, get yourself in line with God first before bringing her in line to you and to God. Trust me, it will work, headship is a God concept, adhere to it and God will honor that and He will work on you and then, your wife for you and through you. Notice God tells your wife to respect you three times in different ways, and He tells you to love her in 9 different ways - God knows what He is doing; your wife needs love, you need respect. Of course you are to love and respect one another, but notice God's guidelines that He has in mind for you; it fits His plan for you to be one person who will worship Him together and it fits your personal needs as man and woman. God is wise, trust His counsel from this word of Ephesians. God's Day To You, Tamara |

A widow is allowed to marry any free Christian, but not a divorced person... She is free to remarry, but he isn't.. Refer to Mathew 19:9 where it says that whoever marries a divorced person commits adultery. And see Mark 10:11 where it says that whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. The issue is not whether a widow can remarry, of course you could, the issue is whether or not a divorced person could remarry and no they can't.
