Hi shadow thorn, God by his very nature, or attribute, isn’t able to die so that’s why he had to become a man. God became a man (Jesus) to pay a debt that he didn’t owe because mankind owed a debt that he couldn’t pay. The wages of sin is separation from God forever. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What a fantastic gift!!!!!!!! 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Now there’s a real trade, Jesus got our sin and when we trust in him for eternal life He gives us His righteousness. Is that real love in action or what? Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hi shadow thorn, Wecome to the forum. I think that a believer should be an exquisite dresser; we are ambassadors for Christ and should be the best representatives possible. 2 Cor. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. Col. 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. If one ties this together with the following it’s hard to miss the way I see it. Romans 14:23 (B) for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Dress as unto the Lord and you are on the right track, CDBJ |

684 | Daniel 9 End Times?? | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 118491
Yes you are correct, the later part of verse 26 and all of verse 27 are yet future events for all in this day and age. Note the comparisons in the following verses. Isaiah 28:15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: Isaiah 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. Matthew 24:6-13 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 2 Thes. 2:3-4 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Have a nice day, CDBJ |

Hi FytRobert, For crying out loud get off of the pity party and relax a little bit; I didn’t present the post with the idea that you would go outside and chop your head off. I have been a Christian about 40 years now and you wouldn’t believe some of the hundreds of stories I have heard with regards to being a Christian. I could present my gentle little loving stories, which wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans, or I can give you the truth of the word of God, chapter and verse, which you can either accept or reject. Sugar coating something might make it more palatable but experience has taught me that the only one who profits is the one who goes directly to God’s word and check out the verses in context for them selves. Every thing that people do or say that adds to Scripture, to make it taste better, take that part with a grain of salt; do a lot of studying to make sure what the say is factual. I guess I am getting to old to be a gushy maudlin sentimentalist! God’s word does it’s work in spite of my short comings. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Relax a little and don’t let me bend you out of shape, CDBJ |

Well, in what I will call a forum nutshell here is you answer, and I probably won’t regret it until you respond back to me, maybe! The reason that I commented on your salutation was because it was the only part of your question that wasn’t contrary to Scripture. If possibly your method of being in Christ happened to follow the same lines as your question then there would be another issue that should be addressed which would take precedence over answering your question directly. Reason, 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. I don’t ever remember posting with you on the forum and I was trying to feel you out, as it were. Your statement was, and I quote, “As a christian, which of the following will earn more points?” The direct answer to your question, without selecting either of the limited choices that you suggest, 1 or 2 would be in, Koine English, as follows. God is only impressed with the work that His Son, Jesus Christ, did for us on the cross. Anything that we try to do to impress the Holiness of God is a slap in the face to His righteousness. Be it a Christian or anyone else for that matter we are under the grace provision of God and can’t really earn points as it were with God. The first taste of this would be when one puts all of his hope for eternal life in the person of Jesus, God’s Son. Col. 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Those in Christ, who have received Him by grace through faith, are to continue this same pattern through out their Christian life, or walk, knowing that they can’t earn or deserve anything from God on the basis of what they do. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. That kind of puts the kibosh on the point system if you get my drift. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. With a point system the only one that is impressed is the one cranking out the points not a Holy God!!!!!!! Have a great day, CDBJ |

687 | A question of logic in timing | Matt 24:15 | CDBJ | 117898
Hi Emmy, The logic you are asking for is imposable since your question is too confusing. You suggested as your question. “The rapture happens after the first resurrection.” The rapture and the resurrection are the exact same thing; your question is rather nebulous and abstruse! For starters the word rapture is a word that believers have coined for the resurrection and it isn’t found in any modern accepted translation of the Bible. The wording in Paul’s letter is where we draw the idea of the rapture or catching away. 1 Thes. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. The word caught up together come to us from the Koine Greek; it is the word HARPAGESMETHA, in means a quick amputation, or snatching away. There are only two resurrections mentioned in Scripture; Christ is the first fruit of the first resurrection. 1 Cor. 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. The word order in the preceding verse is from the Greek word TAGMA, and it carries the connotation of a division of troops with A company B company and so on, Christ being A company and we are to follow. The second resurrection is for the unbelievers and it mentioned in Rev. 20:5-6 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Every one involved from Christ up until Rev 20:6 is in the first resurrection. Please rephrase your question in smaller sections and maybe we could provide you with a better more precise answer. Have a great day CDBJ |

I think you can answer you own question. First, do you consider it a sin? Secondly, there is only one sin that Christ couldn’t die for, the sin of unbelief. John 16:7-8 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: John 16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Who knows what might make a person flip out and do something dumb like that to themselves, it’s still a sin that Christ paid for. The strange part is God knew in eternity past how their life would end and He still paid the price for their salvation and if they have trusted in the finished work of Jesus, their saved Either people believe it or they don’t, CDBJ |

A group of us from our Sunday school class went to see the Passion and I put an article together for the following Sunday’s class; I will share it with you. After the Passion then What? Believe in Jesus Christ for Eternal Life The Bible is very adamant with regards to some very popular New Testament verses speaking of Jesus, who died on a cross over 2000 years ago, and how it should affect us. What should my reaction be after knowing such a fantastic truth as portrayed in The Passion? These are but a few of the verses that speak of believing in Jesus Christ for eternal life. John 3:18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. John 6:29 Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." John 11:26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" Acts 16:31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." The Question? What exactly does it mean to believe in the Lord Jesus? The word “believe”, as we have it in the English language, doesn’t fully convey the meaning of the word, “PISTEUO”, that was penned in the Greek of the original New Testament. Example I can look at perfectly good chair that looks very strong and sufficient to hold me up and say that I believe it’s a chair, and that would be true as far as the English language is concerned, I believe it’s a chair but it really isn’t doing me any good until I act upon what I believe. To believe in a chair, with the meaning the Bible speaks of, I must realize that the new found chair will totally support me, and get up from where I am resting now and go over and turn around and plop down on it with my feet coming off of the ground; I am entrusting. I must depend on the chair 100 percent to support me and hold me up. I must put all my faith or trust in the chair, not holding onto anything else for support but the chair, i.e. totally rely on the chair to support me completely without added assistance. Faith or believe, as mentioned in the Bible, isn’t a little bit of this, and a little bit of that and the other thing. The object of believe, in the Bible, with regard eternal life, must be an undivided total reliance on the person of Jesus Christ and what he did for us on the cross! This is what the Bible means when it says believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. It’s like the “reverse” of the old saying don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. With Jesus it must be a total faith in him alone, or it will be none at all. God has a gift for the human race and this gift is eternal life, as with any gift someone must pay for it, there is no free lunch; all we can do is accept God’s gift or receive it and thank the giver. Ephes. 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- 9not by works, so that no one can boast. Jesus paid the price for our gift and God the Father was satisfied with the price that Jesus paid, it cost Jesus his life on a cross when he was separated form God. God the Father judged our sins in the person of his Son; that was the total reason for the passion of Christ. Have you thanked God yet for what he did for you through the person of his Son? Tell God, in prayer, in your own words that you are trusting 100 percent in what Jesus did for you on the cross; that you would like him to personally reveal himself to you and come into your life, and receive Jesus as your personal Savior. Trust in God’s Word the Bible and believe the promises that God has given us. 1 John 5:10-13 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Speaking of Jesus, John 1:11-12 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- The passion of Jesus was for us. 2 Cor. 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Have a great new life in the Lord by putting your confidence in Jesus. CDBJ |

695 | Does Jesus heal or does ones faith heal? | Hab 2:4 | CDBJ | 114404
Hello dweaver, I think EdB gave you the right answer so I will just deal with the word faith. Faith, or PISTIS in the Greek, is a transitive verb, which has a subject and an object; the benefit goes to the subject from the object but the object gets all of the credit. One can have the greatest faith in the world but if the object is faulty it will fail the subject. Example; ones faith is no better then the object that the put their faith in. If I cross a bridge, that I have great faith in, and the bridge is faulty, even though I have great faith in it, it could collapse and be my demise; great faith bad object. That’s why the Bible says, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved; Jesus is and infallible object that won’t let us down. God brought him back from the dead to justify our faith in him and has seated him at his right side and has given him all power and authority in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Ephes. 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum, It sounds like your cousin could be hung up on the big five, don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t dance, don’t go to movies, and don’t go to the beaches where the girls hang out. I am not say that any of these are right or wrong I am just saying that many believers get these hang-ups and as a result they appear to be so heavenly holy that they are no earthly good. Their Christian walk could be nothing more then a series of don’t. They want their women to walk around looking like a zombie, down in the mouth and thus showing their humility, which they are very proud of. They try to emulate the saddest thing that has ever walked the face of earth. I guess that’s so everyone will want the joy that they have in the Lord? There has to be something drastically wrong with this way of thinking. I live in Amish country in Ohio and I see it all the time. It doesn’t sound anything like Paul conveyed. 1 Cor. 9:19-23 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. The verses that you are looking for are as follows. 1 Tim. 2:8-12 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. 9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. 11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence Please don’t pull this out of context, CDBJ |

Hi Uncle Dave, I would suggest that you start on your knees along someplace and tell the Father exactly what you want and where you have been. He is faithful but the problem is, we aren’t. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Then I would start reading the New Testament very slowly asking God to show you what He has said. Make Reading your Bible your #1 priority even if it’s only a half hour a day and pray constantly for guidance. Have a new experience with the Lord, CDBJ |

700 | what can I do to recieve salvation | John | CDBJ | 113777
Hi Mellow, The best answer that I could ever give anyone that want salvation and would like God to hand walk them through it, is to read the gospel of John, the forth book in the New Testament. Pray before you read it and ask God to show you the key figure that is contained within its pages. The whole purpose for writing the book of John was to reveal exactly what you are asking. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
