62 | What are all of His benefits? | Ps 103:2 | wordoer | 189920
Hello BradK, Well, it was not exactly what I was looking for. I am trying to compile a list of all of His benefits, to be able bring them to rememberance. Psalm 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;... As Spurgeon says; "Observe that he calls all that is within him to remember all the Lord's benefits." But fails to tell His benefits. What are they? Such as; He preserves the souls of His godly ones, and delivers us from the hand of the wicked, "Ps 97:10 Hate evil, you who love the LORD, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked." I will hopefully be back shortly with a compilation of all of His benefits. I do believe that these are guidelines to follow to make us wise. 1 Cor 10:11 Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. Thank Jesus, we have His Word. Hey, there's another benefit. I think this compilation would make a handy little booklet or flyer for His people to reflect upon. Thank you for your effort, wordoer |

63 | What do we know about Satan? | Ps 109:6 | wordoer | 40248
Hello Hank, The following comes from page 8 of a booklet entitled, "expose' of a pagan doctrine THE BIBLE DEVIL AND SATAN DEFINED". The booklet is keyed to the KJV but does an excellent scripturally based job of exposing corruption. "satan", is a Hebrew word transliterated into the English language and means "adversary". The word is often properly translated in that way, in certain Bible passages, but belief in a supernatural devil caused biased translators to render it as Satan in other parts of the Bible. An example of this bias is found in Psalms 109:6 which reads: "Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand." The bias even extended to turning Satan into a proper noun with a capital initial. Yet the same Hebrew word is rendered "adversaries" in verses 4, 20, 29, of the same chapter! It should be so rendered in verse 6. In fact, in the RSV the verse reads: "Appoint a wicked man against him; let an accuser bring him to trial." Another gem I found in this book is this, "The Hebrew word Satan should be rendered consistently as adversary wherever it occurs; in no instance does it relate to a fallen angel." (inside the front cover) SATAN is a Hebrew word, signifying "to oppose", "to be an adversary." The word is translated "adversary," "resist","withstand",... I will add that our Lord called Peter, "satan" Matt. 16:23 and Mark 8:33 and holds true to my repentant view that it is our or man's own fleshly and earthly desires and not the will of the Father which makes any of us an adversary to God, meaning those who desire anything but His will or in opposition to it. I pray this is the information you desired, wordoer |

Hank, The copy I have says Reprinted from "Herald of the Coming Age", by Lord's Covenant Church America's Promise. No authorship is claimed, it is simply a thorough Bible study on the subject. It is kind of hard to find in the booklet form, but I did find a source, I also did a web search and found the study posted online. Matt.7:7. wordoer |

Hello kalos, I agree, and long for your response. Is 33:22 For the LORD is our judge, The LORD is our lawgiver, The LORD is our king; He will save us-- James 4:12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? wordoer |

66 | how to treat these people? | Prov 20:19 | wordoer | 99833
Hello BNBRIONES, Prov 20:19 He who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, Therefore do not associate with a gossip. That is very clear, I know sometimes it is hard to get away from these people, you may have to work with them or they may be around you in your daily activities, I have developed an answer for them when they bring gossip to me. When I have someone come to me to gossip about someone, rather than saying, "Really" and having them continue, I usually ask them if they have said anything to the person of whom they are speaking about the issue they are bringing up, or I tell them how I have had a problem with something similar and what they think of MY shortcomings or If they are being double-minded, I ask them about their own similar or related problem, usually it is whatever comes to me at that moment. You would be suprised how this repels these people. A change has to start somewhere and where would be better than with Christians being a light unto others, showing others by example how gossipers ought to be treated, I mean rejected. This really doesn't stop them from gossiping, But you separate yourself from them (not associating with them). When others see you around these people they associate you with them, I believe that is why the Lord would have us separate from them, It makes "Him" look bad. Prov 11:13 He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter. Jer 6:28 All of them are stubbornly rebellious, Going about as a talebearer. They are bronze and iron; They, all of them, are corrupt. I have noticed that a large majority of people I know and others I've observed are gossips. The scripture also describes these people as malicious gossips, You even stated how you had been hurt by them. There are plenty of things to talk about, that would be good and edifiying to others, rather than to tell disgusting stories about what your neighbor is doing, has done, or outright lying. 2 Tim 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good,.. Two things I can't figure out one is why you have respect for malicious gossips? The other is calling them your "friends", you have heard "with friends like this who needs enemies". One of the definitions I found for "associate" means to connect in the mind. You don't want to be of the same mind as these people. It also means to join together with, To unite in company; to keep company, implying intimacy; as, congenial minds are disposed to associate. I think you are on the right track by not seeking to join their company. In my job, I have to work with these people, so if they need my help in doing a job related task I am there to help them, beyond that I do not congregate or associate with them. I hope this helps you, wordoer |

67 | Where do we go after death | Eccl 12:7 | wordoer | 157334
Hello iwatercc, If you have never been to a funeral, you can see first hand where people go when they die. It seems to be a prominent happening in scripture, that dead people go to the grave. Gen 50:5 'My father made me swear, saying, "Behold, I am about to die; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me." Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.'" 1 Kin 13:31 After he had buried him, he spoke to his sons, saying, "When I die, bury me in the grave in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. Here are a couple of scriptures concerning the spirit or breath that God has given, as He breathed the life into Adam. Ps 146:4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. Eccl 12:7 then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. Then those who die in Christ have the resurrection to look forward to. John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,... 68 | When Is Enough Enough? | Is 6:5 | wordoer | 103779
Hello Michael, I don't think it is a rumor. I just happened to be monitoring the toilet this past Friday evening, It was on PBS, when one of the major news personalities ( I don't watch it that often , But I recognized the man) used the "f" word, in an interview concerning war coverage. So much for the idea of a rumor, "they" have put it to use without delay. wordoer |

Could it be, "Jesus Christ", Ps 135:13 Your name, O LORD, is everlasting, Your remembrance, O LORD, throughout all generations. 5 Is 56:5 To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, And a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off. 70 | SHOULD CHRISTIANS EAT PORK AND SEAFOOD? | Ezek 22:26 | wordoer | 92613
Hello LORRAINBOW, It is argued against ( by lovers of swines flesh and broth of abominable beasts), that God somehow changed His Law. But, we really should not be eating what the Lord has told Israel is unclean for His people. He is holy so shall we be holy, His representatives here on earth. If you go back and look at Lev. 11 and Duet. 14, it does not call those unclean things food. They shall however be detestable and abhorrent to you. This is the mind of God, what God thinks of these things, and He is instructing His people very clearly. Lev. 11:24 starts out saying "By these, moreover you will be made unclean:..", speaking of the unclean animals. This was also an accusation God had against the priests, that they did not teach the difference between the holy and the profane. Ezek 22:26"Her priests have done violence to My law and have profaned My holy things; they have made no distinction between the holy and the profane, and they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they hide their eyes from My sabbaths, and I am profaned among them. Have you heard anything from the church pulpits about the difference between the clean and unclean? Is 66:17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the gardens, Following one in the center, Who eat swine's flesh, detestable things and mice, Will come to an end altogether," declares the LORD. also see, Is 65:4. He says these will come to an end , not that He will change the law and do away with clean and unclean. Is 9:16 For those who guide this people are leading them astray; And those who are guided by them are brought to confusion. It is violence to the Law to say and teach the Law is done away with. In the New Testament, it seems as if Jesus Himself speaks this Law out of existence , remember to harmonize the scriptures, God is not the author of confusion. To do away with the Law was not Jesus’ purpose, He says in Matt 5:17 Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. If you study out these scriptures in the New Testament (that many use to give hearty approval to eat unclean animals) you will find they are being used out of context. In the case of Matthew 15 in verse 2 the Pharisees were complaining because His disciples were not following the tradition of washing of hands, and all that is discussed down to verse 20 of that chapter was in reference to this washing of hands subject, and having nothing to do with eating unclean animals. Matt 15:20 "These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man." The Pharisees were saying they were being defiled by not washing their hands, Not because they were eating pork, had there been any confusion about that He would have directed them to the Law as He did in other instances. wordoer |

71 | Would God separate a marriage? | Mal 2:16 | wordoer | 223731
Here is the scriptural account that God divorced His wife Israel, But He didn't divorce Judah. Jer 3:8 "And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a writ of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and was a harlot also. I believe divorce separates a marriage, so I answer, "Yes". God hates divorce, but He did it. wordoer |

72 | Why did John the Baptist baptize Jesus? | Matt 3:15 | wordoer | 29200
I just want to point out that it was an example to us who desire to do the Lord's will, because Jesus would not ask us to do anything that He was not willing to do himself. Baptism is an act of submissiveness and humility. Are we not to be imitators of Christ? This would also bring us under this fulfillment of all righteousness (no longer sporting our worthless rags of righteousness, But being covered in the atoning blood), if we were baptized FOR the remission of sins, clothing ourselves with Christ, Gal 3:27 (even His righteousness). Righteousness would be acting in accord with divine or moral law to be justifiable, or in simple terms- doing the right thing to be free from guilt and sin. If you have forgiveness of sins you would also be free from the guilt of such. This is also the time that the spirit descended upon Him, Just like in Acts 2:38, "...and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit." Looks like a pretty good example to me. What other way is there in the scripture to recieve the Holy Spirit? wordoer |

73 | Divorce or Putting Away ? | Matt 5:32 | wordoer | 39245
Hello farout, Yes, He is talking about a woman who has been "put away", The act of "putting away", I basically see as kicking the wife out the door. This was the problem of old, that the men would "put away" their wives without giving them a writ of divorce, Which did not free the woman from law of the marriage covenant, causing her to commit adultery if she was joined to another man.Duet 24:4. The translation is lacking in this and should have been translated, "whoever marries a put away woman commits adultery". NASB update has side note that reads "sent away, and sends away" respectively for the words "divorce" as given in this verse. When the woman is given the written certificate of divorce she is freed from the law of the marriage, subsequently commiting no sin if she marries another man, however she cannot go back to her former husband after she has been joined to another man. The King James has Mal 2:16 as "putting away" I would say God doesn't hate "divorce" ,But , He does hate "putting away". God Himself was/is a divorcee, I guess He didn't like it much,But it was necessary and worked into His greater plan. If you are "put away"- still under law of marriage. If you are "divorced"- you have written documentation fulfilling the law of the divorcement. wordoer |

75 | why did jesus speak in parables | Matt 13:13 | wordoer | 124476
Hello LSmith, Jesus spoke in parables because there were some people that He did not want to understand. Mark 4:34 and He did not speak to them without a parable; but He was explaining everything privately to His own disciples. Matt 13:13 "Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. Matt 13:34 All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable. Matt 13:35 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: "I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES; I WILL UTTER THINGS HIDDEN SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD." Things are revealed in the parables that had previously been hidden. Mark 4:10 As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve, began asking Him about the parables. He explained them to His disciples. Mark 4:11 And He was saying to them, "To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, The outsiders got everything in parables. Here is one case where those who He did not want to understand, perceived that He was speaking of them. Matt 21:45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them. Mark 4:13 And He *said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables? Mark 4:33 With many such parables He was speaking the word to them, so far as they were able to hear it; He was speaking the Word to them, at that time the Word consisted of what we now know as the Old Testament. Mark 4:9 And He was saying, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Jesus had many other things to tell His disciples but they could not bear to hear them yet. John 16:12 "I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. I hope this helps your understanding, wordoer |

76 | how do i fast and pray? | Matt 17:21 | wordoer | 94655
Hello bttr007, What you would do is to not eat any food, and only drink pure water, and plenty of it. If you have never done this before you can start out easy by just not eating one or two meals on a given day. Then on your next try you can work your way up to a whole day. I actually believe that fasting intensifies your prayers. That may be why Jesus said that these come out only with fasting and prayer, Matthew 17:21. I believe fasting also has a healing effect on the body, If you are interested in the healing aspect, you should read, "Fasting and eating for Health" It really helped me in my understanding of fasting, ISBN # 0-312-13071-6. As far as prayer goes, the scripture is full of references and examples of prayer, like David's entreating of the Lord in the Psalms. Matt 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." John 15:7 "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. For those of you with health issues, I would suggest you take them to the Great Physician. I hope this helps, wordoer |

77 | jesus said , iwas hungry and you fedme , | Matt 25:35 | wordoer | 221943
Hello m123, Brad is correct, it is the sheep, and allowing the Bible to explain itself: Matthew 25:33 shows the ones on the right as - the sheep. Jer 50:6 "My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. They have made them turn aside on the mountains; They have gone along from mountain to hill And have forgotten their resting place. 4 Matt 10:6 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 5 Matt 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." His people Israel are what is refered to in scripture as "lost sheep". All people are not sheep, the Bible also shows that the goats, birds, snakes, etc... Are not his people. hope this helps, wordoer |

78 | Unleavened Bread Prior to Passover? | Matt 26:17 | wordoer | 32096
Luke 22:7 confirms the statement in Matthew 26:17 as both accounts match. Exodus and Leviticus both confirm that the Passover started on the 14th day of Abib and was also the first day of unleavened bread. Exodus 12:17-18. You may be getting confused because it says "following with 7 days" - while the first day is included with Passover. Hope this clears it up. wordoer |

79 | Is the word 'twilight' confusing? | Matt 26:17 | wordoer | 32220
Hello , I apologize, it appears that I was confused,(please excuse my ignorance) and I was also unaware of the passage in Leviticus concerning the fifteenth day being the "Feast of Unleavened Bread", I believe I have it straight now. The instuctions say in Exodus 12:8 that they are to eat the Passover with unleavened bread. The following day (15th of Abib) is the "Feast of Unleavened Bread" and following the Passover, the days of unleavened bread was to last seven days beginning on the 15th, Leviticus 23:6. So, I believe it would not be incorrect for those observing "Passover", and the "Feast of Unleavened Bread" to call all days where they were using unleavened bread, "the days of Unleavened bread". It appears that it is eight consecutive days and would not be incorrect to call Passover the first of Unleavened Bread, I believe I have scripture in agreement,(If not let me know). Exodus 12:18, says from 14th at evening until 21st at evening you shall eat unleavened bread, That is 8 consecutive days. It is also interesting how God divides the days, Genesis 1:5 "...And there was evening and there was morning , one day", And "twilight" simply means "evening, sunset", which according to God is the beginning of the day. So my simple answer to your first question is that they were calling a day of unleavened bread (Passover), a day of unleavened bread, That's my take on it. wordoer |

80 | Thief on Cross discrepancy Mt vs Lk | Matt 27:44 | wordoer | 107868
Hello Xenoid, I wanted to answer you sooner but I could not remember where I had come across the information relating to your question, It happens this evening, I open “Bullinger's Companion Bible”, and there it is in the Appendixes (page 187), Appendix number “164”. In my opinion, (for whatever that is worth), it gives a very detailed account of the discrepancies and possible solution, along with word studies and history, concerning the “others” crucified with our Lord. I hope you find the information helpful, wordoer |
