61 | Admonish law-breakers or not? | Matt 22:17 | iktoose | 146204
How/what a church (leadership) should approach (or admonish) its members for not paying the government tax? I know some of my church members work for employers who pay cash wages to avoid paying insurance and FICA. What about members who are illegal immigrants? This issue has been bothering me for sometime but I don't know what to do. iktoose

64 | Physically Correct Communion? | 1 Cor 11:26 | iktoose | 145626
I concur with srbaegon. I also understand Garathom's encounter with his congregation opposing to change the tradition. One time my pastor proposed to use real wine (actually it was wine diluted with juice) and it made some jump. So he withdrew the idea. Since we are on the subject... I know some churches allow only ordained ministers to preside the Communion. Would anyone oppose if non-ordained Christian preside the Communion? If you oppose, pls explain your biblical reason. Thanks. iktoose |

65 | Healing through prayer? | James 5:14 | iktoose | 145619
I have seen some folks taking this verse too literally (possibly because they have greater faith than me). For example, having headache or contracted with common cold, instead of taking asprin or cold medicine, this person would call his pastor for healing prayer. What is wrong with this picture? iktoose |

66 | A Fear of the Lord encompasses what? | Prov 22:4 | iktoose | 145563
I have been a Christian since 1991 and the greatest Godly wisdom I got is fearing the Lord, I think. Whenever I am tempted to commit a sin, I think about the consequences (fearing the Lord). iktoose |

67 | Do you think there are modern day prophe | Acts 2:17 | iktoose | 145380
Prayon, Could you please name few modern day prophets that you consider legit? Obviously it is not so hard to pick out false prophets. iktoose |

68 | Noah, a bad evangelist? | Gen 6:18 | iktoose | 145305
All this time, I thought Noah was pretty bad evangelist, unable to save any souls other than his immediate family of 8 for 120 yrs. This verse (Gen 6:18) just revealed me God's plan; rescuing only 8 souls. God did not mention any others except of course the animals. God decided to wipe out all and He surely did it.
69 | Should we model after Jacob? | Gen 28:22 | iktoose | 145295
Searcher, Contrary to your note, if you read the verses 20, 21 and 22 carefully, you may be able to catch what I am trying to preach here. Jacob is vowing to God that he would surely give a tenth to Him "If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey that I take, and will give me food to eat and garments to wear, and I return to my father's house in safety, then the LORD will be my God." I thought Jacob had a pretty good deal here. Did he not? Was he not blessed aftward? Do you blame his attitude? |

70 | why do we worship? | Josh 1:8 | iktoose | 145248
Amen to that. Also worship should include Holy Communion (bread and wine).
71 | why do we worship? | Josh 1:8 | iktoose | 145243
Amen to all Prayon stated herein. I'd like add this to that: Worship is our (believers) response to God for His grace and mercy. It could be in the form of praise, listening to sermon, and offering.
72 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145231
Prayon, here we go again... What you said here "When you are ask Christ to come into your life and you are 'saved' you receive the Holy Spirit." is the moment of salvation, correct? Earlier post, you said "Yes the baptism of the Holy Spirit is different from receiving salvation." Are you saying "receiving the Spirit" and "being baptized by the Spirit" are two differnt things? |

73 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145214
Prayon, thank you for answering to my original questions. You said that baptism of the Spirit is when you truly become filled with the Spirit. That means you can experience this Spirit baptism over and over, correct?
74 | Why the Holy Spirit came after baptism? | Acts 8:15 | iktoose | 145212
Hi Mohandass, Now I am bit confused/muddled with different terms. I have been believed that at the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit comes into me and dwells in me. Having said that I have no problem understanding the terms like "quenching the Spirit, grieving the Spirit, to be filled with the Spirit, and the fruits of the Spirit." You said "annointing by the Spirit is a separate incident." Can you explain how "annointing by the Spirit" with respect to terms above?
75 | Should we model after Jacob? | Gen 28:22 | iktoose | 145211
Hi Doc, In Genesis 28:21,22 Jacob (pre-Mosaic bible character) is swearing that he would offer a tenth to God if and only if God blesses him abundantly. What is wrong with that? I can be like Jacob anyday. |

76 | Why did Jesus encourage to betray? | John 13:27 | iktoose | 145209
Thank you Angel for more than I can handle insights, I am force-feeding myself to digest what you said here. You said " I have no right to exclude Judas from gaining salvation, neither does anyone else... " I think Jesus said that Judas would have been better off if he was not born. Based on that, I can assume he went to hell for doing a part of the Devine plan. If you believe in Jesus, you are saved. If you don't, you go to hell, correct?
77 | Should we model after Jacob? | Gen 28:22 | iktoose | 145206
Hi Steve, Don't you think Jacob is pretty good model to follow after all he was blessed greatly by God? Presumably Jacob offered ten percent of whatever God increased. I am wondering about where/to whom the offering was given. I don't see a priest or anything about helping out widows/orphans... Anyone out there have good explanation for this. |

79 | Why did Jesus encourage to betray? | John 13:27 | iktoose | 145055
Thanks Angel for great insights. Just a quick note to what you stated, "It was also appointed, in Scripture, that one of His own would betray Him (John 6:64, 70-71; 13:2, 10-11, 21-30; 17:12; 13:18; Acts 1:16-17, 20; Psalm 41:10, 55:12-14)... Judas, though one of the twelve, was chosen for the purpose of betraying His Master... just as Jesus did not reject His task (John 12:27; 3:14-15; Isaiah 52:13 thru 53:12), it was required that Judas betray Him in order for the fulfillment of the Scripture!" If this statement is valid, I think Judas had no choice but to play the role of betrayer. Some responded that Judas was given ample opportunity to reverse the course. If he did, that would have jeopardized His Devine plan, not? |

80 | Spirit Baptism | Acts 8:12 | iktoose | 145030
Steve, If it occurs at the same time, how do you explain Acts 8:15? It seems that the Samaritans waited for Peter and John to lay hand on them in order to receive the Holy Spirit (after water baptism by Phillip). |
