41 | Is any type of contraception allowed? | Bible general Archive 1 | iktoose | 154897
JMR, I read all the postings on this thread and general consesus is that Bible is silent about this subject. Let me offer you a passage from the Old Testament how God sees this issue. I think your belief is right and God is NOT silent on this matter. I think He is deadly serious. Take a look at the following verses: Gen 38:8-10. Onan practiced a type of contraceptive and God saw that wicked and killed him. 8 Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." 9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also. (Gen 38:8-10 NIV) iktoose |

Folks studying dinos have not said (yet) that dino can breathe fire. So I have to stick with my first guess, dragon. iktoose |

43 | is it animal? | Job | iktoose | 154893
Description is much like a dragon (that I saw in children's cartoon), not? iktoose |

44 | Why Esau not got his blessing back? | Gen 27:35 | iktoose | 154890
Why Esau could not get his blessing back? Why Issac could not reverse what he did? iktoose |

45 | Circumcision for believers, justified!? | Acts 16:3 | iktoose | 152394
In Acts 16:3, Paul circumcised Timothy possibly to avoid accusation from the Jews. Although I fully understand the reason behind the operation, I feel that Paul went somewhat over board with his action here that is contrary to other occasions where he strongly preached against circumcision for believers. iktoose |

46 | SHould christians get S.S. disability | Bible general Archive 2 | iktoose | 151335
I sure don't want to make anyone feel guilty but since favorwithGod was looking for a bible reference. I know this verse does not exactly address Social Security disability benefit but I thought it is somewhat relevent (in case someone is abusing the system). Thess 3:10 For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. iktoose |

47 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150120
I partially agree with John MacArthur's statement ('Grace does not permit what the law prohibits. "Grace" never signifies the lowering of God's moral demands.'). The statement, I think, is based on how God carried out the salvation work through Jesus Christ, of course, by obeying His own sacrificial old testament law. Contrary to MacArthur's statement, I have seen statements like, "Grace has no bound." "Our God is omnipotent and omniscient." I do understand why MacArthur said that and I have no intention of ignoring our God's characters (holy, righteous, just). However, I do not want to put our God in a box. He is capable of anything, is He not? iktoose |

48 | What do we do with the OT? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150075
Yep, you're right that we strayed from the main issue. However, it is very important issue in my journey of Christian faith. As soon as I read your post, this verse came to my head, "By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace." I DO NOT want to break any laws. But sometimes I have to. iktoose |

49 | What do we do with the OT? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150069
So in your mind the right thing to do is turn these people in to authority and kick them out of the country? Just look around your church pews, you will see them. Do you want to report them to INS? Is this what Jesus want us to do? iktoose |

50 | What do we do with the OT? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150062
Whatever happened to the heart of Jesus in this situation? Why all of sudden you talk like Pharisees? |

51 | What do we do with the OT? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 150048
When I first put the question up I was hoping to see some discussion on real life applications... Based on the last two posts by BornTwice and lionheart, is it safe to infer that if my intention is good I can break the law? Let me ask a hypothetical question for you to consider. Let's say I see a poor illegal immigrant family and my heart desires to help them. What if I hire them to work in my company? Here I am breaking the law by hiring illegal immigrants but my heart desires to help out strangers in our land. Is this right thing to do? If not, what is wrong? iktoose |

52 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149990
BornTwice, Yes, I do agree that Jesus said "judgement, mercy, and faith" are weightier than other. However, remember how He completed the sentence, "... these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone." He did not say we can disregard those but He said "these ought ye to have done." Correct? In light of that, how can we say that the law that addresses farming/clothing and doing yard work on Sabath day are not important or has no application to us? iktoose! |

54 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149977
Here BornTwice is saying we don't care about some laws such as dietary, cleanliness, and some other standards(??). This tells me that we are free from certain laws but not all of the law, correct? It seems that we can break some laws but not the ones WE think they are more important. That to me is interpreting the Law? iktoose |

55 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149921
Searcher, I was merely reiterating what Born twice stated in his response, "conscience." I believe everyone's moral standard is different(even though we use the same OT/NT). One could be sensitive about a subject while others care not. Examples: Drinking alcohol, speeding on highway, lying to your kids for their own good. If my conscience says it is okay to drive few miles over the speed limit but the law says that you're guilty and someone might object to it. iktoose |

56 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149913
Thanks to Born Twice for the insight. If my conscience says it is okay to cheat a little here and a little there. And that is the clear black and white line as you put it. That may be a stumbling block for some other believers. How would you reconcile that problem? iktoose |

57 | Are we free from the Law? | Rom 7:6 | iktoose | 149905
We (believers) are free from the Law (Romans 7:6) but Paul stated in Romans 3:31 that we should uphold the Law. Can someone tell me what part of the Mosaic Law (Pentateuch) we should still comply? I wish there was a clear black and white line drawn. iktoose |

58 | Why take UNCLEAN animals onto The Ark | Acts 10:11 | iktoose | 148910
Merv, I do admire your faithfulness/attitude about the laws. It reminds the psalmist of Psalm 119. If you can compare yourself to the psalmist, please continue striving to keep the laws and be content. However, I know I cannot fulfill the laws and always end up feeling guilty. iktoose. |

59 | Why take UNCLEAN animals onto The Ark | Acts 10:11 | iktoose | 147780
Leviticus 11 (old testament laws) defines what clean and unclean animals are for human consumption. Again this is the laws. You cannot satisfy the laws though you can try. If you are absolutely sure that we are not eat unclean animals, can you say the same for the rest of the laws? Just read Leviticus and see if you can abide by the laws. iktoose |

Sad thing is that these cheaters are church officers and bring tithe. And churches don't care how they earn the money as long as money is flowing in. iktoose |
