61 | self control / spirit control | 1 Cor 9:25 | bubbatate | 54525
Dear John: You quoted, “Col 2:16,17 "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." What exactly were you trying to convey to me……keeping in mind that the topic at hand was “hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ”. (v8). Thanks………Bub |

Dear Indiana, Please see Lev 26 for the good news, the bad news and the grace of the LORD. Notice that the "good news" bottom line is "I will set my tabernacle among you....and I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people." (Lev 26:11-12). This promise of the "good news" of Lev 26 is fullfilled in Rev 21:3 practically verbatim. There's a lot of "Jewishness" going on in the Revelation. 64 | Self control, and Spirit control? | Ephesians | bubbatate | 52890
Dear 4me, I would like to expand further on the “answer you like”, which was excellent. What is the “truth and wisdom” we need? What is “His way” and “His authority” to which we must submit? First of all….what does the LORD say about His Spirit? That would be the first thing one would search out in contemplating a “Holy Spirit” dilemma. The LORD tells us exactly how His Spirit operates in Eze 36:26-27. I have always found it odd that I never heard a preacher quote Eze 36:26-27 when expounding on the Holy Spirit. I did see it quoted on the Forum but the quoter stopped with “follow my decrees” and omitted the last part, “and be careful to keep my laws”. My guess is that the offensive word “laws” must be avoided at all cost….just a guess. Eze 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27: And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. (Affirmed in Rev 14:2.) Eze 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20: Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. (Affirmed in Rev 21:3.) This the very essence of being “born again”? (See Jn 3:8 below). “Born again” is synonymous with “Born of the Spirit”. Jn 3:3 In reply Y’shua declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again……7: You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. 8: The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." What can one see if he’s born of the Spirit? The Kingdom of God (Jn 3:3 above). Can there be a kingdom without a king or a king who does not “rule”, i.e. make rules, or “laws”…..to explain what is expected of his subjects, or servants? Look at Isa 2:2-3 (below) concerning “the last days”…..”the Torah (law or teachings) will go out from Zion……Jerusalem”, the capital of the Kingdom to which “all nations” will go to learn the King’s “ways…..his paths”. To be submissive to the King is to learn His ways “so that we may walk in His paths”. The Holy Spirit makes it easy……He moves us to do this if we choose to submit. Isa 2:2-3 “In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3: Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law (Torah, teachings) will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD (Torah, teachings) from Jerusalem. Peter says in 1Pe 1:22, “…you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth….. 23: For you have been born again….through the living and enduring word of God (Torah, teachings).” Remember, there was no “New Testament” for the first generation believers to refer to. The original question to which I am responding asks….”How is it then, that we are to be both self controlled, and be filled (controlled) by the Holy Spirit?” As Peter says above, purify yourself by obeying the truth, this is the self control. What is the truth according to Peter? “The living and enduring word of God.” Where did the first generation believers find the living and enduring word of God? In the Law and the Prophets…..every “Thus saith the LORD” is His word as affirmed by Y’shua in Mt 4:4 “Y’shua answered (Satan), "It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Right there Y’shua says to live in accordance with “thus saith the LORD”……why would He quote Dt 8:3, especially to Satan? What is the “sword of the Spirit” according to Paul (below)? “The word of God” (Torah, teachings); again remembering there was no “New Testament”…..Paul wasn’t writing “the word of God”….he was writing about “the word of God”. Eph 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes…….17: Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” What was revealed to John in the Revelation concerning getting victory over “the beast”? Rev 15:2 “And I saw…..those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name…..3: They….sang the song of Moses (see Dt 31:19, 24, and 30…the song is the Torah) the servant of God and the song of the Lamb (see Rev 19:30…”His name is “the Word of God”; Torah). This agrees with Y’shua’s victory over Satan in Mt 4:4 (above). There’s more………continued below: |

Dear Joe….. As for, “Oh, here it comes! The old "Constantine corrupted that olde tyme religion" line of thinking.” God forbid that the history of your religion be explored! I’d be embarrassed to look at it too. As for my having “an allergic reaction to the epistle to the Hebrews”, I beg to differ, I think it’s a great epistle…..check out Steve’s “allergic reaction” to the word “gospel” in Hebrews 4:2 and 6……why don’t you check it out for yourself, I’m sure you allergies will kick up as well. As for, “Please be honest and forthright enough to tell us the name of the body in which you "Sing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb." ………if you need a “label” I can’t help you out……but I’ll work on one…….maybe the “nikao crew”. Still singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb………Bub |

Dear Hank, In response to your comments: You said, “I don't know precisely what you are trying to teach on this forum.” Mt 5:19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and TEACHES others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and TEACHES these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. MT 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and TEACHING THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING COMMANDED YOU. “ Since Y’shua was addressing Jewish guys……what was commanded of them was within the context of Judaism……that’s what they were to teach. Ever notice that when Christians quote the “great commission” they totally ignore v 20? Many don’t even know that it’s there. Re: “but it (what I am attempting to teach) gives every appearance to my mind to be something other than orthodoxy”. Define “orthodoxy”? Do you mean man made tradition? If so, you’d better believe I’m not trying to teach orthodoxy! As for: “And I don't know what your definition of Christianty (sic) is” Briefly put, it is the culmination of the attempt to remove all things Jewish from the belief system that characterized the first generation congregation. When things got hot for the Jews circa 66AD…….a certain faction of this heretofore strictly Jewish sect (see Acts 24:5; 24:14; 28:22) sought to remove all associations with anything that might have pegged them as “Jewish”, thereby saving their chicken necks……voila……christianity……”hey, we’re just a bunch of Greeks……look, even our lord is Greek, he’s “iesous”…….he used to be Jewish but he repented.” You continue: “mine (definition of Christianity) is based on the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the inspired writers of the New Testament”. Are you sure you don’t mean on the “selected” teachings…….or “inferred” teachings? And then, “And to say that the Christianity of the Bible contains paganism is pernicious heresy and blasphemy, regardless of who says it, whether you or an angel from heaven.” I don’t believe I said that the Bible promotes paganism; in fact it is vehemently opposed to any taint of paganism………Christianity, however, has no problem with it……what are the holiest days of the Christian calendar? From whence cometh they? Respectfully submitted……….Bub |

Hi Kalos.... In flipping channels one day I stopped at the Catholic channel briefly to see what they were up to, Mother so and so was quoting John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us." She was directing the verse to Protestants....as to how they got so far afield.....AMAZING! Singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.....Bub |

Hi Kalos, I have aired exactly the same sentiments and have been railed against as a liar, heretic, judaizer and legalist and my forum membership has been threatened. I just happen to love the word of the LORD above doctrine and this is seen as heresy. Singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb.......Bub |

71 | What commandments to keep? | 1 John 2:4 | bubbatate | 54575
Dear Brad, I have been asked by others the same questions, albeit from a position of hostility…..as you request is calm and reasonable I would be more than happy to give you my “testimony”……a blurb on the members’ profile page would not present a clear picture. On my first Sunday on earth I was in church. I was raised in Evangelical and Reformed…..now UCC. “Church” was an absolute every Sunday and for every other church function, but there was no “God-talk” in the home throughout the week. In college I attended a Lutheran church as there was no UCC……the pastor died and his replacement was boring….my friend invited me to her Catholic Church. I was impressed with the solemnity……there wasn’t a lot of socializing going on. I went to classes to see what it was all about…..I became a Catholic. I first read the Bible cover to cover when in college. I truly loved God and was seeking Him. I became a Catholic and married a Catholic…..after seven years and two wonderful children, and every Sunday in church, my husband divorced me to pursue his philandering on a full time basis……he paid the “church” thousands of dollars for an annulment in lieu of child support. I knew this was not in the Bible…….exit Catholicism. I tried other churches and was left cold……I started doing cable church……I was exposed to yet another facet of Christianity. I learned a lot and became a big Charles Stanley fan as well as all the other big boys (Kennedy etc.). I was reading the Bible again. During a one year stint in Nevada, I felt the need to get real serious with the LORD….I acknowledged that any problem I had in my life was of my own making and it was because I was not following the LORD, this was in my living room, not in a church…….I poured out my heart to the LORD and received an incredible peace…..there was not enough tension in my body to keep me on the chair…I slithered to the floor. I professed my love for the LORD and, He said to my spirit (I don’t know how else to put it)…..you can’t love what you do not know…..I went back to Genesis and began a voracious study…..and I’ve been studying with a passion ever since. I began attending a Church of God and then Calvary Chapel. I listened to Christian radio from rising to retiring…..I heard a mind blowing message from Irwin Lutzer as to how the “Holy Roman Church” brought paganism into Christianity to make it more palatable to the pagans they conscripted….I sent for his tape series and became adamantly against anything that hinted at paganism…..goodbye Christmas……goodbye Easter…..I kept them as my personal sentiments not wanting to offend my Christian brothers and sisters because, after all, they were sincere believers, and much more spiritual than I.....I wasn't comfortable making waves. Upon returning home from Nevada, my niece invited me to her church….Assemblies of God. Great music, dynamic pastor etc. I was baptized and became an enthusiastic member. The Toronto revival and later the Brownsville revival kicked in…..there was a lot of revival enthusiasm. I thought it was exciting yet on another level disturbing……I was searching the scriptures for verification of what was going on and finding none…..of course the take was that I was just not on the same Holy Spirit level as everyone else which is why I wasn’t totally getting it. continued next…….. |

72 | What commandments to keep? | 1 John 2:4 | bubbatate | 54576
continued from previous…………… I got a flyer for a two week prophecy conference at a nearby church…..I was extremely interested in prophecy and decided to go….if it was junk I just wouldn’t go back. When I got to the church I found, to my chagrin, that it was an SDA church. The first night of the conference was really interesting and I decided to stick it out….however, I went right home to get my “Sunday is the Sabbath” ducks in a row because I was sure that 7th day issue would come up. I went to my trusty Nave’s Topical Bible to get my ammo. All the “Sabbath” passages were listed, followed by a “Christians and the Sabbath” segment. There were a few resurrection passages cited plus a statement that went more or less, “Sunday is called the Lord’s Day in the Revelation.” I about flew off my chair……that was an out and out lie! I was in total despair……is there such flimsy evidence for Sunday that they actually had to lie? How could I go back to the SDA’s with this? I did a massive search of the scriptures and the world as I knew it totally collapsed……can Charles Stanley be wrong? Can Billy Graham be wrong? Why didn’t D. L. Moody get it? I called my assistant pastor (my nephew-in-law), I was sure he would have the missing piece. I explained my dilemma……he gave me the usual song and dance about resurrection day is now the Sabbath……I said, “I know…..but I have to prove it.” After an hour on the phone he could not scripturally verify anything……and his bottom line was, “It’s not important, it’s not worth my time.” That statement hit me like a sucker punch. Nave’s lied…..and now this. I ran my dilemma past many of the “Spirit filled” pillars of the church……all I got was nonsense……I never felt so alone in all my life. There was no doubt in my mind now that the 7th day is the Sabbath and that main stream Christianity was wrong and had no interest correcting it……I had been duped. I was no longer confused….I was hopping mad! I finished the conference at SDA and continued there….they taught that the 7th day was changed to the 1st day by the “Holy Roman Church” who did so to accommodate the pagans whose big day was Sunday (I’ve since learned that the practice began long before as a “delete all things Jewish” movement…..the Romans merely codified it.) SDA was adamantly against mixing paganism with Christianity, I was already on that page, so it looked like I found a home of like minded believers………until two months later when they announced that they were getting their Christmas choir together. Another smack upside the head. You say paganism has to go and you do Christmas? Goodbye SDA, you also speak with a forked tongue (and as for the Ellen White thing………). Now I’m the lone ranger again……I cried out to the LORD……..I know your word is true and I know Your Sabbath is the true one and I know that Christianity has been tainted, but I can’t find anyone else willing to throw out all the garbage. I asked for conformation that I was not the only one in the world who had so concluded. This was a Saturday….my last day at SDA…..I had nowhere to go the next Sabbath. That Monday I ran into a Christian friend……I explained my plight……within five minutes he concurred that the 7th day is the Sabbath…….he then said, “Ya know, I just heard that a “messianic” group is organizing and will begin meeting next Saturday.” Halleluyah!! Confirmation! I was there on the first Shabbat five years ago and have been there ever since. I’ve been challenged to name the name of the group with whom I associate……..we have no label……”Messianic” has already been taken and has certain connotations we chose not to identify with. My “will the real Sabbath please stand up” experience has led me to challenge everything….main line Christianity is wrong on the Sabbath and Christmas…..now you’ve got to prove EVERYTHING to have any credibility with me…….I’m not buying pat statements, doctrines and sacred cows that cannot be proven with a “thus saith the LORD”. Unscriptural tap dancing is disgusting, sometimes laughable, and I will challenge it at every turn……in turn, I welcome challenges………and will give chapter and verse in defense of my position......mere opinions will be stated as such. As for inerrancy of scripture….my position is this. Y’shua said (to Satan, in fact), "It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD. " (Mt 4:4). He didn’t say Paul’s word, or anybody elses’. If anything contradicts a “thus saith the LORD” I’m not including it in my theology. I do not have to give an account to Paul, Christianity or any man or I would be in big trouble……which many on the forum have already concluded that I am. I hope I was able to communicate with lucidity……thanks Brad. Singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb…..Bub |
