Disciplerami, I like the way you explain/share. It is very accomodating and brotherly/sisterly but strict when necessary. I learned a lot on your answer regarding " Is Baptism necessary for salvation". Thanks. NGOP |

62 | Can you be a Pastor if you are divorced? | 1 Tim 3:5 | Ngop | 77043
The scripture is very clear when it comes to divorce, Mark 10:5-9. Regarding "husband of one wife" in 1 Tim 3:2, if the reason for divorce is not marital unfaithfulness ( Matt 5:31-32 ), and the person marries another, then that person has two wives. The first marriage remains in God's eyes. But just a reminder, serving God is not just being a pastor. One can serve in other ways. One of the reasons for the restriction as mentioned above ( husband of one wife ) is Romans 9:32-33, "a stumbling stone". God's Grace, NGOP PS: Sorry, Mommapbs. wrong address. |

63 | Why are movies like Harry Potter bad? | Bible general Archive 1 | Ngop | 77041
Mommapbs, I do not judge which is evil or good as I am afraid that the standard I use will be used in judging me. And I do not add Harry Potter stories to the mix as whether I like it or not, Harry Potter stories do now exist. And all I can do is to deal with it and not run away. God gave me a talent. There is no way, I am going to bury it. I am going to use it to develop so that when my Master comes back, He will be happy. NGOP |

64 | Why are movies like Harry Potter bad? | Bible general Archive 1 | Ngop | 76897
All I can say is all of us grew up in stories like Harry Potter. Cinderella, Snow White, Pinocchio and Peter Pan to name a few. These stories are made up to show in entertaining way the difference between good and evil. They DO NOT teach witchcraft nor sorceries or faith in fairies. Otherwise, most of us are now witches, wizards or a fairy believers because we've read, heard or watched at least one of these fairy tales during our time. We cannot protect our children 24 hours a day. Only God can do that. We cannot hide them either from the world. So we expose them in balance and with guidance. And we do Deutronomy 6: 4-9. NGOP |

66 | Is "Willful Ignorance" in the Scripture? | Matt 18:22 | Ngop | 76563
The context of 2 Peter 3:5, I believe, is the knowledge of sin and yet committing it still. But the question " falling again and again " to sin by Jeannie should not be construed as " Willfull Ignorance". All sins can be identified and counted. Meaning it is finite. Thus, man will commit the same sins again and again. Being in evil flesh, we will always commit sin, the same sin which we have done before. So will it be forgiven? YES, it will. Then where is real repentance. It is in our hearts where only God can access. Peter who has been with Jesus Himself, committed this "willful ignorance" by denying Him three times. Now, he holds the key to heaven. Judas Iscariot, made only one. But his heart, God knew, now he burns in hell. To Jeannie, To be born again is NOT to be perfect. It is STRIVING to be perfect. Keep on praying and learning more about the Word of God and soon you will realize your repetitive sins are diminishing. In Jesus' name, Ngop |

67 | Jesus, "a god"--John 1:18 | John 1:18 | Ngop | 76556
Why Jesus being God differs from translation to translation? Because the scripture never "directly" said that Jesus is God. That is why. Even Jesus Himself never said He is God. When I was still "searching", I have the same question. Is Jesus really God. And I found these: 1. God is spirit. Angels and demons are spirit. These latter two ( Good and Evil ) recognized Jesus during their encounters in the scripture. So they must have known Jesus long before He became man. ( Matt 8: 29 )( Luke 1:32 ) 2. People who have lived during Jesus time, recognized Him as Son of God. Mary Lazarus' sister ( A friend ) declared that in John 11: 27 and the Centurion ( An enemy )who guarded Jesus during Crucifixion declared the same in Mark 15:39. 3. And lastly God the Father declared Jesus as His Son in Matthew 17:5. But is Jesus really God? Based on above, by deductive analysis "Yes". But how come He did not "directly " declare Himself as God? Actually He did. It is just that some are still blinded by unbelief. If one confesses his faith in Him, acknowledge Him (Jesus) as the One and True God, then soon one will see, feel and experience His declaration of His Deity. Remember what God the Father said in John 3:16? "... whoever BELIEVES in Him...." are the only ones who receive eternal life. It is never said, "whoever can prove or authenticate"? 69 | TV Show "Crossing Over" - Dead Speaks? | Deut 18:11 | Ngop | 72115
All I can tell you my friend is that the devil deceives. If you are saying the man brings a lot of mental healing to the people he talks with, then he is doing the devil's job. Nothing brings healing ( for losing a loved one )other than faith to Jesus Christ. Any healing that does not come from Him is superficial and surely temporary.
70 | how were the sisters | Luke 10:42 | Ngop | 72113
The two sisters are different in their way of acknowledging God. Jesus said Mary did better because of the first commandment, "Love God above all". In rev 2:4 says :" Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love". The first love is Love of God. Not few of God's servants these days fall into this trap. They become too busy doing good things. Too occupied in working for the kingdom of God. Concentrating too much of their time in helping God do His job that they fall in love with the work itself thereby forgetting the first true love which is Love of God. |

71 | virgin birth | Is 7:14 | Ngop | 72108
Without the virgin birth, Jesus is not the Immanuel.( Isaiah 7:14 ) Jesus fullfilled all the prophecies proving He is the Son of God. And that includes to be born to a virgin. A woman's virginity is best known by the woman herself. And Mary declared it in Luke 1:34 when she said "How will this be,"Mary asked the angel,"since I am a virgin?" |

72 | Did Christ Descend into hell/ | Bible general Archive 1 | Ngop | 68360
Dear brothers Emmaus and Robert, I was born a Catholic and during all those years, I can't understand why a Protestant thinks that a Catholic is a lost soul. Then when I became a Protestant, I can't understand why Catholics can't understand what is written in the Holy Scriptures. As I went deeper in relationship with God and be born again, the Holy Spirit told me He is One and the same. As John 14:6 said there is only one way,one truth and one life in Jesus Christ our living God, obviously it is you and me who make things different. There are ducks raised to lay eggs while others are raised for their meat or as pets. But when a flood comes, all will float and be together as one for after all the differences, they are all ducks. Aren't we all His bride? |
