61 | what does this mean to us? | 1 Cor 11:32 | mbooker | 62673
Good Afternoon SirPent You said 'Paul then says in this verse that this “sickness” is a God’s way of disciplining those people.' I do not understand what you mean. vv 29-30 explain why many are weak and sickly and why many sleep. Are you saying God punishes those that eat and drink unworthy with sickness? 62 | Saved vs. Works (John 5:24 and 5:28-29) | John 5:24 | mbooker | 60757
Good Morning Brother John! I appreciate your statement 'We are saved by faith alone, but not by a faith that is alone' Just yesterday, I was thinking about what Paul said ('For by grace are we saved thru faith... not of works' Eph 2:8-9) vs what James said in Jam 2:18-22 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And I came to the conclusion that a work is simply external evidence of our faith/what we believe. Again, I appreciate your statement. It was beautifully said and I think I'm going to remember it for a long time :). Abba Father Bless you... Meredith |

63 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | mbooker | 60568
Good Afternoon Brother John!! I am smiling as I read this post because I think I see eye-to-eye with you! :) I was under the impression that the Reformed View believed that the gospel was an invitation, not to all, but only to the elect. But from your post, I have been corrected in my impression! :) I too believe that the gospel is open to all but it will only benefit/save those that believe in Christ. I am sooo excited about this moment of unity!! :) Have a blessed day Abba Father bless... Meredith |

Good Afternoon Brother John Since 'the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God' how were we(those that are born again) able to receive/believe on Jesus? Aren't we all 'natural' men prior to being born again? Another question: The Amp version refers to the 'the natural, nonspiritual man'. Is it possible to be born again but still be 'nonspiritual' or immature ('HOWEVER, BRETHREN, I could not talk to you as to spiritual (men), but as to nonspiritual (men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates), as to mere infants (in the new life) in Christ (unable to talk yet!) 1 Cor 3:1)? Though I still don't see this issue the way you do, it has been interesting and challenging reading thru the thread. Abba Father Bless you... Meredith |

Yes, religion may do that to you but… ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’ 2 Cor 3:17 and a man named Jesus, aka ‘The Truth’ (John 14:6) , makes us free :) sorry Sir Pent :), but when I read the post, the above came up in me :). 66 | Why does God love the world (us)? | Genesis | mbooker | 59418
Hi Hank :) To be honest, I am not clear on all the ins and outs of predestination and election. In this post, I was expressing to John what I understood him to be saying. I was not saying I agreed with what I stated in the post, only that that was what I understood him to be saying. btw, I'm simple and unsophistcated too :). I'm just seeking to rightly understand scripture in my own simply way then live out scripture in my life so that I can be a living espistle. Abba Father bless you and keep you... Meredith |

Hi Brother John OK, I think I see where you are coming from but let me personalize it. 1. God predestined the Fall 2. If I sin/fall, God has predestined for me to sin/fall 3. While I sin for evil reasons, God however predestined me to sin for His end purpose Maybe I’m simplifying it, but what I seek to do is get understand of biblical principles then apply them to myself. And you may be right. Maybe we won’t fully understanding it this side of heaven but 1 Cor 2:15-16 caught my attention one day and propels me to search out and seek knowledge and understanding of my Father’s heart. “But the spiritual man tries all things [he examines, investigates, inquires into, questions, and discerns all things], yet is himself to be put on trial and judged by no one [he can read the meaning of everything, but no one can properly discern or appraise or get an insight into him]. For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart” Abba Father bless… Meredith |

Good Morning Brother John! So, my first question wasn’t hard enough huh? :) OK, I believe I understand where you are coming from so far. As for Acts 4:27-28, did God predestine Jesus’ dying (the lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world Rev 13:8) because: 1. He predestined Adam and Eve to disobey, thus the need for Jesus’ sacrifice or 2. He already knew from the beginning that Adam and Eve would disobey His commandment When you say, ‘His will will be done’, I think back to the beginning. In the Garden of Eden when God "commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die", I would say that it was God’s will that Adam eat freely, except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When "the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat", I would say they were going against what God told them i.e. going against His will. Adam and Eve had the ability to go against God’s commandment/will and they did. But they also suffered the consequences of going against Him. And in spite of their disobedience, God was ready with a plan (Jesus) to redeem man. I think of what Jesus said about Jerusalem: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me." Luke 13:34 God told Moses "Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering." Exodus 25:2 I guess the best way I can express my view is this God wills for us to come to Him with a willing heart (whosoever will, let him come). At this point, I believe if we are not willing, He won’t override our will and control us to the point that we will come. Hope I wasn't confussing in my reply... :) Abba Father Bless Meredith |

Good! :) When you say "The Reformed view sees God as exercising absolute control over all of his creation", my mind says "OK. All of God’s creation does what He wants them to do". Is my thinking incorrect? Abba Father Bless Meredith |

Hi Brother John I have been reading these posts and wondered if you wouldn't mind engaging me in a bit of dialouge. I admit up front :) that I do not have the same view as you concerning this but I want to share with you my thought process and I want to correctly understand your view. I'm also not sure if this (the forum) would be the place for us to go back and forth, but if its OK, I would appreciate your time. Abba Father Bless |

Good Morning Brother Tim! I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your posts. I have seen instances where you have disagreed with a poster, but the way you do it... it(your post) just over flows with gentleness that it takes me a moment to realize you are disagreeing!! :) 2 Tim 2:23-24 seems to describe you... And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; Thank you for providing a good example for me! Good morning Jesusfreak Boy! This is quite an interesting topic. And I will admit it... I too tend to lean more toward mercy and compassion (not that the others are unkind or unloving). Maybe because I'm a woman!! LOL Micah 6:8 says He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? This is a scripture that I meditate on and the 'love mercy' has really impacted me. A few of my friends do have the opinion that I am too 'soft'. :) And with a topic like this and with all the scriptures that have been posted, I seek to rightly divide the Word of Truth. In a conversation with a brother yesterday, Gal 6:1 was brought up then I wondered when do you 'deliver such an one unto Satan for destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus' and when do 'those that are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekenss; considering thyself, lest thous also be tempted'. Jesus is called the Lamb of God (John 1:29,36) and He's called the Lion of Judah (Rev 5:5) A lamb and a lion! Talk about a contrast! LOL Since He is our perfect example, I want to learn when to be a lamb (deal gently) and when to be a lion (arrhhhh! deal sharply) LOL! Forever learning, forever growing... May you be abundantly blessed today... :) Abba Father bless... Meredith |

77 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | mbooker | 58584
Good Afternoon Brother John! I am still not quite sure at what point a leader should be removed, especially given the scenario you gave in your post (What if he falls again, is the process then repeated). I am trying to study the passage Kalos posted earlier (I Cor 5). Your statement “Even if the fallen Pastor repents, Why should'nt he be removed from his leadership position?” is what made me think of David. And as Kalos pointed out, David repented. Now I’m not saying that this particular pastor should remain if he has repented. I was just posting my thought process and not attempting to answer your question. Abba Father bless… Meredith |

Good Morning All!! I have been reading through this thread. And after reading John's post, I asked myself 'Do we have examples in scripture where someone in leadership was removed then restored back to that position?' Then Saul and David came to mind. Saul was rejected from being king because of rebellion (I Sam 15:1-29) and was not restored. But then David, who lay with Uriah's wife, was never removed from being king. Just wanted to share my thoughts... :) Abba Father bless... |
