Sorry if I offended you about the fear thing. I was just taking your words and responding to them. Glad to know you fear no man and reverence our Father. Does scripture teach that the suffering of his children brings glory to GOD our Father? If so, I have no other choice but to believe that 'the suffering the young woman experienced was a means by which God glorified Himself'. I know the bible talks about the sufferings that Jesus went thru and it talks about the fellowship of his sufferings. I just have to find those and read them to see if they indeed support the statement that 'suffering brings GOD glory'. If you know of scriptures that support the above statement, please share. Thanks for your quick response. Oh, btw, that's Sister MBooker :) |

And another: Luke 17:11-19 'And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole' Just something to think about. Now, if you have examples in scripture where someone wanted healing, did not get it as those in the previously mentioned scriptures did, and still gave glory to GOD, please share them with me. I can only base my faith on what scripture teaches, not on the experiences of my brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks for answering. And Abba Father bless you always. |

Please don't fear, especially if you are responding to me. We have been delievered from fear and our Father did not give us a spirit of fear. As long as you speak scripture, what is there to fear? The righteous are as bold as a lion. As for who glorifies Abba Father more, Jesus said it better than I ever could: 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.' The young lady you mentioned brought scripture passages to mind: Luke 5:18-26 'And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.' When were they 'all amazed'? When did they 'glorify God'? After the man sick with palsy obeyed Jesus and arose, took up his couch, and went inside his house. After they saw this with their own eyes, then they glorified GOD. Had the man sick with palsy not gotten up, I wonder if the people still would have glorified GOD. Luke 18:35-43 'And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. In this instance, the blind man received his sight, followed Jesus and glorified God. After all the people saw it, then they gave praise unto God. Again, I can only wonder if the blind man had not received his sight, would the people still have praised GOD. Another reference showing the people glorifying GOD after healing took place: Matthew 15:29-31 'And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. And another: Luke 13:11-13 'And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. |

I'm going to read about the Canaanite woman... Scribe, thanks so much!! I have read both accounts in Matthew and Mark and my faith has been stirred. The NIV says 'Woman you have great faith! Your request is granted.' Lord, I want great faith! Thanks again for those scripture references. My mind is being renewed and I am being transformed. |

Thanks. Your chair example helped me see where you are coming from and I agree with you. Just as I have faith that the chair will hold me, I have faith the my Father will heal me. And no, the chair doesn't hold me because I believe it will and no, my Father does not heal because I believe He will. The chair holds me because thats what it does. My Father heals me because that's what he does. And as you said with the chair, I must believe, then act on that trust and sit before I can benefit from what I believe (that the chair can hold me). Likewise, I must believe my Father will heal, act on that belief, then sit (or like Hebrews 4:11 says 'labor to enter into his rest') before I can benefit from what I believe. I've had been reading Hebrews not too long ago and chapters 3 and 4 talk about the dangers of unbelief and how 'they could not enter in because of unbelief'. Heb 4:2 even said that 'but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it'. And I guess that would be an entirely different subject so I'll stop now. :) Again thanks for listening and responding. Abba Father bless you! |

I just thought of and found another scripture that apprears to connect faith and healing. 'And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked' Acts 14:8-10 |

Scribe, I think you said it so beautifully. I too believe that 'The idea that saints have become sick and even died of their sickness does not make void the Word of God.' Your words here have encouraged me too and reminded me that 'The servant of the Lord must not strive but be gentle toward all men, apt to teach'. Thanks so much for that dose of refreshing and strengthening medicine. May our Father bless and keep you and may you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. |

Hey heisthe1 A lot of what you posted sounds like what I remember reading the the book 'Messenger of Satan', a book by Charles Capps on that thorn in the flesh. Thanks for the scriptural reference. I hope to get the book soon and re-read it and post all the scripture references he list. |
