61 | how can we minister to homosexuals | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 209650
Doc, I don't believe Jeff ever said in his post that a homosexual could remain in his sins (lifestyle) if he got saved. I think that is why this thread is so confusing. I took from his point and I quote him "Recognizing false teaching (and that by the fruit) and judging the eternal state of another is two very different things." I agree with him on this point because as the scriptures say man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. Thus, God is the only judge who can give a right judgment. When we take that upon ourselves we do an injustice to God putting ourselves on His level. Only God can judge the eternal state of a person. We do not have that divine power and insight. We can think we know where a specific person will go but we are told to witness and warn not give a final judgment which we cannot do anyway because we are looking at the outward appearance not at the heart. Dear Keliy: Thank you for your answer. At Preceptaustin.org it gives the interrepative approaches to scripture. Knowing someone's interpretive approach helps to understand how they view passages. Usually how someone interprets Revelation 20 determines their interpretive approach. Happy New Year - Val

Psalms 51: 1 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. 4 Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight, So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge. 5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. 6 Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. 7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. 9 Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. 15 O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. 16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. 18 By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. 19 Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar. Dear Azure, Adding to the discussion of worship, I see from David’s prayer the relationship he had with the Lord. In looking for what the Lord desires of us I see from verse 6 the Lord desires truth. I believe from this we can say that we can hide nothing from God. If we are not truthful with God and ourselves, facing our sins, bringing them to the Lord to cleanse us there is no worship for us. Only when we deal with our sins does true worship begin. We can go through the motions giving an outward appearance of worship; example, praying, singing, preaching, but if the heart is not right with God, He is not pleased, see verse 16. When the heart is right, verse 17, then the outward worship; i.e., praying, singing, preaching is pleasing to Him, verse 19. In regards to the worship in heaven, we know that we will be in our glorified bodies. There is no sin in heaven. Worship is something we do everyday of our lives. Every hour, every minute we are either pleasing to God and honoring Him with the sacrifice of our lives or we are displeasing to Him and need to bring those sins to Him to cleanse us. True believers are led by the Holy Spirit who brings these things to mind as we walk in the Spirit. Those who have yet to surrender their lives to Christ, the Holy Spirit convicts them of sin. They have an opportunity to surrender their lives to Him. If they continue in their unbelief there is no worship for them. They may go through the externals but the internal, the heart, that part which God desires, if it is not pleasing to God, all externals will not be pleasing. These are my thoughts. Thank you for your warm blessing, Azure. May our Lord richly bless you today and in the coming year. – Sister Val |

Dear 4191: The church at Antioch sent Paul and Silas on their first missionary journey. This church was believed to have more gentile christians. The home church at Jerusalem was mostly made up of jewish converts to chrisitanity. It was lead by James, Jesus brother. It was harder for them to accept this "new thing" of the gospel being available to gentiles because before they had always been told to stay away from gentiles. Jesus spoke to Peter in a vision and told him to preach to Cornelius, the first gentile convert. And so Peter explained it to the people that he was not to call anything unclean that God had made clean and that the gospel was to be proclaimed to them. Another point was that later Peter would when he was in Jerusalem would not eat with gentile believers perhaps because he wanted the people's approval. Paul called him out on this and said it wasn't right so to speak. Some of the jewish converts wanted the gentile converts to add their jewish traditions to their christianity; the leaders met for a church council and the results of that were that the gentiles would not have to do that but they were to abstain from immorality, things sacrificed to idols and one more I don't remember right now. The other Jew-Gentile controversy was that there were Jews who were not really converts and they hated the fact that Paul was offering salvation to the gentiles; they would follow him around the cities and cause him trouble, stirring people up and the like; they were called jewdaisers, that is the wrong spelling. If you have any reference books on the life of Paul, skim through them quickly before Sunday. They will give you a lot of information. Sincerely, Val

Hi Doc, it is good to see you again. Hope you are well. I am so sorry for the lost of our brother Hank. I know ya'll were good friends. He helped me a lot in my christian walk. Regarding the question of Pharoah, let me ask you, why do people ask questions that seems to put God in an inappropriate light. Is it that if they can prove the bible shows that God is unfair in their thinking that they prove somehow it is not to be trusted. I find this question is asked over and over and over again. What do you think the motive behind it is? Do you think that people are confused as to who God is, what the bible is or both? Just a few thoughts. Your research was very good and I enjoyed reading. Let me bring the following to the table. I don't have a lot of time so you will have to look up the scriptures for yourself by searching these characters of the bible. Abraham - God told Abraham in you all the nations of the earth will be blessed. By looking at this one statement we have drawn our conclusion that He was speaking about Christ Jesus. We know there is only one name that was given through which men may be saved according to Peter and that was Jesus. Salvation therefore came through Abraham's righteous line because of the promise God made to Abraham. What is this blessing? We draw this conclusion; that men may be saved, have eternal life through Jesus. Now the question is; is He talking to just the 12 tribes of Israel or is He including all people of the earth? From Revelation 7:9 we draw the conclusion that he was speaking of all mankind as we see it was all tribes, peoples, and tongues in verse 9 before the throne. Abraham had a miracle son at an old age with his elderly wife. The son's name was Isaac, the son of promise. Follow Isaac's line down and it takes you to David. In the book of Ruth we see Ruth was a gentile so this would enable Jesus to be the kinsman redeemer for the gentiles as well as the jews. I believe Mary's line also came through Abraham. So we come full circle. Now what does the verse mean to Abraham; in you all the nations of the earth will be blessed mean? Is this promise only to the 12 tribes of Israel? First the blessing means life for those who believe (have saving faith) in Christ Jesus. Second, the blessing is for every tribe, nation and tongue of the earth. So Abraham and his descendants looked forward to the cross. I believe my friend gave you the Isaiah passage of the suffering servant which is a picture of the cross. Maybe some of the others can elaborate on any questions you may have. Merry Christmas! |

No need to apologize. I have not had time to be on the computer these past few days. If you want to ask me the two questions again I will compile an answer for you. If not that is fine too. It would help if you would fill out your profile so we can know a little bit about your background. When a person does not fill out their profile it is hard to measure how detailed an answer needs to be. There are all types of people who come here from all sorts of backgrounds. Filling out the profile is appropriate. One of the forum members asked you to do this. I hope you will consider it.

To answer question number one the source for my answer which was given in the original post was Genesis Chapter 3 and 6 and the book of Acts. More answers and scriptures were given by stjohn, BradK, DocTrinsograce, CDBJ and BMyers which apply to questions one and two. As to your profile it is your discretion to place there whatever you please and is not mandatory just requested by other forum members. Again no offense was taken and none was meant.
77 | Psalm 20:1-4 | Bible general Archive 3 | Val | 192124
Ps 20:1 May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! (Notice in Psalms 19:14 he asks that his thoughts be acceptable to the Lord his Redeemer-he seems to be repenting of his own sins) then in 20:1 he begins to pray for others that they will call on the Lord and receive help from Him when troubles comes their way) May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! (He is speaking of the God of Israel who was called Jacob before God changed his name) Ps 20:2 May He send you help from the sanctuary And support you from Zion! (He seems to be speaking of heaven - see verse 6) Ps 20:3 May He remember all your meal offerings And find your burnt offering acceptable!(He seems to be speaking to Israel because they received the covenants and the laws) Selah. Ps 20:4 May He grant you your heart's desire And fulfill all your counsel! (He seems to be saying he hopes they get what they deeply desire) I hope this helps. |
