61 | intelligent design or darwin? | Eph 6:12 | Tim3:16 | 164438
One reason, is due to activist judges, who mis-interpret the constitution and make laws from the bench of the supreme court, instead of passing it through congress the way the law is supposed to be made. as a result, there are actually teachers saying that the phrase, "wall of seperation between church and state" is in the Constitution, when actually it was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson. And, it was in defense of the free exercise of religion, -not prohibiting it. Another reason, and likely connected to those judges, is the verse above, and it is, the prince of this world, our enemy satan. There recently was a public school in northern Wisconsin that I heard of that was going to be succesful in offering a class on creationism, or intelligent design as an alternative theory to evolution. It was after several failed attemts by other schools around the nation, but I do not know how it turned out. For your information, I have included the following from Liberty Council, who gives free legal advise and court appearances in order to defend our rights as Christians in this country: "Teachers have a lot more liberty than you think to teach creation and to teach religious and Christian influences. 62 | Any Version | Col 1:24 | Tim3:16 | 184213
Yes, I agree with Doc, So to explain more deeply, I am sending you an excerpt from a sermon by Pastor Chuck Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel in Cosa Mesa, CA. to wit: Now, this is a very difficult scripture to understand. Then I will frankly confess to you, I am not certain that I do understand the full implications of it. Does seem that Paul is saying that, in some way, he is completing the afflictions of Christ in his own body, for Christ's body sake, the church. Now, it can only be understood if we understand the relationship of Jesus to His church or the relationship of Jesus to you. Whatever reproach you bear for your faith in Jesus Christ is really reproach that is being directed at Jesus. Whatever suffering you bear for Jesus Christ's sake, that suffering is being directed at Jesus. And so, Paul recognized that these beatings that he received, the stonings that he received, the suffering that he was subject to, and the imprisonment and all, were because of man's animosities against Jesus Christ. So that he was suffering for Christ's sake; he was in prison for Christ's sake. He was actually taking the sufferings of Jesus Christ, or the reproaches of Christ, the feelings that man had in his natural heart against Jesus. The hatred that man had against Jesus, Paul was privileged to bear it. "I rejoice that I can bear these things that are directed at Jesus, that I have this privilege of filling up the afflictions of Jesus. That is, that the feelings that man have of antagonism towards Jesus are directed at me, and I'm able to take them for Him." And Jesus so identifies with us, that He shares with us in this suffering. He said, "Count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations, trials" (James 1:2). "Don't count it a strange thing concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing has happened to you. Rejoice!" (1 Peter 4:12) "Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake and for the gospel's, for great is your reward in heaven, for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you" (Matthew 5:10-12). So, filling up of the sufferings of Christ. Man, the natural man, still hates Jesus, and as you stand there before Him as His representative, you receive his abuse that he is really directing in his heart towards Jesus. Now, they counted it a privilege that they were able to do that. They rejoiced that they were able to take that suffering for Christ's sake. Don't take it personally. A lot of times we are so sensitive. Someone says something and we take it personally, as though they're directing it at us. No, it's being directed at Christ. And it's because that I'm Christ's representative that I'm standing there and receiving it. And if I look at it that way, then I can rejoice, Lord, that you've counted me worthy to suffer for Your sake as did the apostles in Acts, chapter four. Lord, oh my, You counted us worthy to suffer for You. So, I . . . now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of [in that I am receiving the afflictions that are directed at] Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church: whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God (Col 1:24-25); So, Paul is been made a minister, according to God's plan to fulfill the word of God. Blessings to you and yours, |

63 | in what way did Abraham, Isaac and Jacob | Col 3:19 | Tim3:16 | 170073
According to Judaism 101 , which is an online encyclopedia of Judaism, Women have held positions of respect in Judaism since biblical times. Miriam is considered one of the liberators of the Children of Israel, along with her brothers Moses and Aaron. One of the Judges (Deborah) was a woman. Seven of the 55 prophets of the Bible were women According to traditional Judaism, women are endowed with a greater degree of "binah" (intuition, understanding, intelligence) than men. The rabbis inferred this from the fact that woman was "built" (Gen. 2:22) rather than "formed" (Gen. 2:7), and the Hebrew root of "build" has the same consonants as the word "binah." Men and women were both created by God, for His purpose. They were created seperate, but equal. One has strengths where the other has weaknesses and vice-versa, so thatneither could be complete without the other. It is my belief that men and women made the same mistakes in the OT that they do in the NT, proving that the players only change, -the game remains the same. Respectfully yours, Tim |

64 | Living together without sex | 1 Thess 5:22 | Tim3:16 | 163593
Funny you should ask that, Doctor. The same thing happened to me 3 months ago. My fiancee was in a predicament and needed to get out of her apartment. we were to be married within 1.5 months, so we asked our very knowledgable pastor, during one of our pre-marital counseling sessions, what he thought of our idea. He said that it was not his place to judge, we should take it to the Lord in prayer, and he said he was confident that we would remain pure. So we went ahead, took turns sleeping on the couch, and was care ful not to let our families or church members find out, of course without actually lying about anything. During the co-habitation, we went out to dinner one night and she had a little too much to drink. That caused us to fall into the very act of immorality that we were trying so hard to avoid, and were yet so confident that we would not fail. Well, one night before dinner, I upset her and she had a hard time forgiving me. we went to the next session and our pastor said he saw some danger signals, and that he suggested we wait 6 more months for the marriage. We have since broke up. Before the fateful night, it was my belief that it was such a great testimony to how much respect we had for God's laws. To live together and still avoid sinning. After that night, however, even though we both repented with a contrite heart, it was my belief that our Lord squashed our marriage plans as His way of telling me to keep his whole law, and if I thought I could bend it without failing, well then, as the spiritual head of the household I better be certain that I do not fail, or cause anyone else (future wife) to fail. I now regret the decision, and am living with dire consequences in my life. May God shine His light of truth and love upon your relationship and help you both to make the right decision. Tim PS the KJV translation of the above verse is, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." |

65 | Women teachers in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | Tim3:16 | 181169
Hello and welcome to this forum. You are right in feeling the conflicts with teachers such as J. Meyers and others. I believe the Holy Spirit is giving you some discretion and exposing the departures from God's Inspired Word as it pertains to His Will. If it seems to be in conflict with the Bible, it usually is. The Holy Spirit has been promised by Jesus to lead us to the truth. For comparison, may I ask you to take a look at Nancy Lee DeMoss, who knows how to teach from a womans role, and does not try to teach to men the way she would like them to learn. DeMoss has men guests on her show, and she plays a submissive role to them, as instruction to all women. If a woman is to submit to a man who correctly handles God's Word, it is in no way degrading to the woman and she never feels belittled. Meyers is very popular because she tells people the word, with her own interpretations mixed in and adds to God's Word instead of teaching in purity and only bringing out the existing truths. (you can not add to the truth, and still have truth.) Meyers has a place in the world by teaching what I call "spiritual candy" along with James Kennedy, they tell people much of what they want to hear, so the people keep coming back. I pray that the people who are drawn in have a good seed planted in their heart, so the Holy Spirit can nourish it and they will grow out of their craving for candy and dig into the meat of the Gospel. God Bless you Tim |

66 | Study members bored with Bible geneology | 2 Tim 3:16 | Tim3:16 | 169430
One very good reason for studying the geneologies is to ascertain the chronological order of biblical history. Another is to prove the blood line of the promised Messiah. Notice that after the birth of our Savior, there is no longer a reason to record geneology. God Bless, Tim |

67 | why do certain tragedies occur | James 1:2 | Tim3:16 | 170071
Hi ibtrue2u Here is an answer from James 1:2-4. This is from the New Living Translation. Lord Bless, Tim 2 Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. 3 For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything. |

68 | Is sex-drive/beauty bad? | 1 John | Tim3:16 | 184272
Is it wrong to then find pleasure in things that are 'physically beautiful'? Not according to Psalm 19. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. It is hard to sin when we are enjoying God's beauty in a godly manner, man-made beauty is another thing, as is distorting the reason for which the beauty was intended, such as a human figure. Remember, God had created everything good in the beginning, and it was the choice of man that introduced sin and death into the world. So, God created a sex drive for a good purpose, to multiply on the earth, and through our own distortions of God's will, we turn away from the goodness of the design and turn towards our own outlets such as (pornography). It is therefore not the sex drive that is bad, but how we as fallen humans react to it. To answer your third query, a craving is not bad in and of itself. God understands, because He created us this way. It is only bad when it comes to covetousness and idolatry. It is through our own choices that we must turn to God for direction and strength in these matters, and He promises to sustain us. Tim |

69 | What is the role of sex-drive/beauty? | 1 John 2:16 | Tim3:16 | 184274
This passage, taken in context tells us of the dangers when we replace our love for God with worldly desires, for if we become crucified to the world, and put to death the affairs and enticements of it, our devotion to God would come more readily. Christians should unite in this, in being dead to the world. If we were united as such, we would soon be united in most other topics. Our love should be reserved for God; not thrown uselessly away upon the world. Tim |

70 | Who are the Nicolaitanes in Revelations | Rev 2:6 | Tim3:16 | 169381
According to one gifted preacher I know of, the root words Nico means priest in Greek, and the word lait had to do with the laity, or common man. His conclusion was that in Revelations where Christ speaks of the things which he hates, He is talking about churches that exalt priests in a postion higher than the people, enabling them to lord their authority over the people. The Bible states that all believers are priests, as well as saints. God bless, and bless God. Tim |

71 | Where to live durring posttribulation? | Rev 3:10 | Tim3:16 | 169762
Hi fox21, The safest place I know of to spend this time is with Jesus, that is where I hope to be during the tribulation. I will state my reasons why here. Since the word rapture is not found in any translations that I know of, it can be an extremely controversial subject. I try to keep an open mind on the subject. My primary passage concerning the timing of the Rapture is Revelation 3:10. This is where Christ promises to deliver believers from the “hour of trial” that is going to come upon the earth. To me, this either means that Christ will protect believers in the midst of the trials, or that He will deliver believers out of the trials. Christ is promising to keep believers from not the trial, but the hour, or span of time that contains the trials, or the onset of trials, or wrath as some say, namely the Tribulation. The purpose of the Tribulation, the purpose of the Rapture, the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 5:9, and the interpretation of Revelation 3:10 all are supportive of the Pretribulational position. If you have found some convincing evidence of post-tribulation rapture, I invite you to attempt to convince me. God's Blessings to you and yours, Tim |
