61 | how do you define faith? | Rom 3:3 | Jensen | 20966
Dear Mensa..Welcome to the Forum :-)... Faith has a twofold meaning in the Bible. (1) "trust," "reliance" (Rom 3:3), and (2) "fidelity," "trustworthiness." Unbelief, or the lack of faith in the Christian gospel appears everywhere in the New Testament as the supreme evil. Not to make a decisice response to God's offer in Christ means that the individual remains in sin and is eternally lost. Faith alone can save him. God Bless....Jensen |

62 | What does satan want? | Eph 6:11 | Jensen | 20964
Dear Casiv... Satan lives in heavenly places. Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. These verses also speak of the powers of this dark world. Plural. Satan was the model of perfection (Ezek 28:12) but is now fallen (Isa 14:12) and has limited access to God (Job 1:6). Satan's purpose and work is to oppose God (John 14:30, Acts 13:10, Acts 26:17,Rom 16:20, 2Cor 6:15, 1 John 3:7) and Satan"s intends to ruin believers (Luke 22:13, Rev 12:17, 1 John 5:18) and to establish his own kingdom (Isa 14:13, Matt 12:25, Luke 4:5, Luke 11:18). He does all this by accusing (Job 1:60), by afflictions (Luke 13:16), by deception (Gen 3:1, John 8:44), by hindering (1 Thess 2:18) and by perverting (Acts 13:10). He also schemes( 1 Tim 3:7) and stalks (1 Pet 5:8). He steals (Luke 8:12), tempts (Matt 6:13, Mark 1:12, Luke 4:1) and now Satan stands condemned (John 16:11). I hope this helps you. Just some straightforward Scripture, no smoke and mirrors :-) God Bless....Jensen |

63 | Per 2Thes 2:3 isn't the rapture postrib? | 2 Thess 2:3 | Jensen | 20637
Dear Glen..Welcome to the Forum :)..... Here is a translation from the NIV that may help... 2TH 2:1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. ....I do not take any position on the tribulation debate. I have not studied the issue at all, but the passage does seem to refer to the same event. God Bless....Jensen |

65 | What was the lords instructions | Exodus | Jensen | 20582
"EX 12:1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire--head, legs and inner parts. 10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover." Are you in need of a Bible. Please let me know for I will send you one. |

66 | What did moses say and Pharaoh's answer? | Exodus | Jensen | 20580
EX 5:1 Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: "Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.' " EX 5:2 Pharaoh said, "Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go." Are you misleading anyone to think that you have studied this Book, and did your homework. Sounds like it but I hope that I am wrong :) |

Dear Ruth30..Welcome to the Forum:-) You wrote, "which apostle did jesus say was an israekite without god???", but the word "israekite" is not found in the Bible. Second, are you certain that Jesus was speaking of an Apostle being "with out god"? If you will provide a little better information the Forum will be better able to answer your question. 71 | age of accountablity | Rom 10:1 | Jensen | 20511
Dear ABeliever2...Welcome to the Forum...:)... While there is no "age of accountability" discussion in the NT, Rom 10:1 is a prayer of intercession for the unsaved that may apply. Also, other prayers of intercession are 1Tim 2:1-6 "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time." I realize that prayers of intercession have little to do with the age of accountability. I had the thought that your main concern was for the very young, or unborn, child. Will they go to heaven if they die before they are old enough to be "born again."? Perhaps we should look to God's Mercy. Here is a comforting verse from Nehemiah (9:31)that may apply,"But in your great mercy you did not put an end to them or abandon them, for you are a gracious and merciful God." Also Titus 3:5 " he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,." I confess that, if not for the Mercy of our Lord, I do not see how any child who has not reached the age of accountability, who has not confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, will ever enter heaven. God Bless....Jensen |

72 | Going to stars | Ps 8:3 | Jensen | 20507
I am so sorry... I am going to answer your questions in the order that you wrote them and hope that I can be more clear. You wrote... "Do you think, it is better to go stars, to study God's creation?" Answer--It is always best to look as close as you can at anything worth the effort to study. We do that with Bible study daily. It was better for men to go to the moon, collect rocks, and return to study the rocks than it would be for them to sit in their backyards and guess what the moon was made of. But that assumes that the moon is worth the effort to study. The study of "outer space" has led to tremendous advances in science that have been very beneficial to mankind. Your computer is one of the benefits :-) You wrote... "could u please give any passages to study God's creation we should go in to it so we can study it better?" Answer.. I am sorry. I do not understand this question. Will you please try again. Sometimes I am just thickheaded :) You wrote... "You include stars as God creation, and you said it is better to study stars if we go there? " Answer...Yes. It is better to study the stars up close rather than from far away. Just like everything else. Otherwise we might believe that the moon is made of Green Cheese :-) You wrote... "How about the Sun? it is also a God creation, if u mentioned that it is better to study the stars if we go there, then it is better to go to Sun also to study it better, and we know going to the sun is crazy things. Sun included in God creations." Answer...We are already very close to the Sun and know quite a lot about it. The only reason we know about the Sun is because we are close enough to study it. Someday, we may even send a probe into the Sun itself and learn even more. There are many different kinds of stars as you may know. Our Sun is only one star among many. Stars are not all alike. Stars must be studied if we want to know more about them. It would be better to be as close as we can get. Maybe even as close to them as we are to our own Sun. You wrote... "and we know going to the sun is crazy things" Answer, Comment...No, we do not know that. Scientists do not consider the possibility of going to the Sun, or any other star, to be "crazy things." "Crazy things" at one time in our history included sailing far out into the ocean where we would fall off the Earth since the Earth was considered to be flat. You wrote... "I think it is wrong that you can study better the God's creation by going to it, otherwise we have to go Sun also to study it better. What do you think?" Answer...We study the Grand Canyon up close and have more proof of Noah's Flood. We study the cells of our own bodies up close and see more proof of God's intelligent Design. We do not have to land on a star with a spaceship. We can land on one of the planets that are near the star to gain more knowledge. But you must believe that the effort of going is worth the knowledge that may be gained. We spray our squeeky hinges with a product called WD-40. WD-40 is a bi-product of our effort to go into space. Many other things also. You wrote... "For me it is not important to study the stars and other God's creation by going to them. Just believed that they are God's creation." Answer...Christians like us already believe that God created everything. We are saved. But remember what Peter said: "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15) The study, and the knowledge of God's creation will help us be prepared to give answers to the unbelievers when they say things like " We all evolved from monkeys." We must be prepared to prove that we are created in His image. We can do that better by studying creation up close. Including the Stars :-) God Bless You Johnny...Jensen |

73 | New Covenantals and Covenantals | Gal 3:15 | Jensen | 20444
Dear Ronnie...Welcome to the Forum:).... Here may be a start. These few verses kind of sum up the different beliefs I think you mean. Of couse there is a lot more said in the Bible, but I hope this helps. GAL 3:15 "Brothers, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.(Paul here is talking about a contract between two people. If you do this I will do that) 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. The Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise." The older covenant depends on the Law. The newer covenant depends on Grace. One is the Law while the other is a promise. Paul is addressing his opponents who were not ready to admit that Abraham was justified by faith in God's promise. Paul has just said earlier.... Gal 3:2 "I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?" We are free from the Law and it serves only to show us we are hopeless sinners in need of a Savior. Our new covenant promise of salvation is because of our faith in Jesus. God Bless....Jensen |

74 | dose it say we can fly other planets | Ps 8:3 | Jensen | 20437
Dear Jessie*46...Welcome to the Forum....:-).... According to the verses below, we are to have rule over the works of God's hands. His works include the stars. He has given us the curiosty also:-) He invites us to study His creation of the stars, and we can best do that by going there. PS 8:3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, PS 8:4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? PS 8:5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. PS 8:6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: God Bless....Jensen |

75 | Enter the Dragon! | Gen 3:1 | Jensen | 20268
Dear Lionstrong...You are correct and I apologize for not doing better. You do not ask one question. You ask five. I only see one that is important for a study ( maybe two) but I understand that sometimes the best debates must begin with non-essentials to make a point. If we only ask rhetorical questions we will never address substance. Here are the five questions you asked. 1. How would it be contrary to the goodness of God for God to have created Satan evil? ...Good Question...I will try to answer later. 2. Is it not the right of the Potter to make a vessel as he sees fit, to "prepare some for destruction? .....It is not the right of the potter to make a vessel that will result in harm to others. He may make something that looks like a vessel and save it for destruction but it is not a good vessel and is, therefore, no vessel at all since we expect vessels to be a certain way. He does not have the right to put a defect in the vessel that would defeat the purpose of the vessel. Making a vessel with a defect, and offering for use, is dishonest. That does not mean that the potter does not have the power to do so, only that it would be dishonest. "God don't make no junk." In everyday life we expect to get what we are paying for. If we were to buy a vessel from this potter and it had a hole in the bottom so that the vessel carried no water, we would return to the potter and expect that he make good on it. The potter could not argue that he had a right to make this vessel the way he did, eventhough it harmed others or did not perform the way we were led to believe. That would be an argument away from the standard of good. (Which is written on our hearts) 3. Was Agatha Christy evil for writing murder mysteries? ....No.... 4. And weren't they "good" stories? ....Some were, some were not....it is a matter of taste. I do not like mystery stories. I like science fiction and biographies. 5. If he (Satan) were created good how did he fall so quickly? .... I addressed this question in an earlier post that tried to explain how "time" is relative. I still offer that post as a scientific proof/theory that Satan is "timeless" for the purpose of our discussion. He had a start and he will have a stop. But his time is not like our time. Now to the first question. Evil by definition is sin. All sin is evil. Anything evil is already sin, or a result of sin. Anyone who brings about evil is said to have sinned, or "missing the mark", so that for God to have brought about evil in the form of Satan, or anything else, would be missing the mark. Further, we agreed that Lucifer was created in the first six days of Earths existence. GE 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day. At one point...., at some point within the first six days Lucifer was also "very good" if we are to believe what God said. I want to thank you, Lionstrong, for putting me on this study. You really know how to ask a pointed question that cuts to the heart of issues. Since I have read some of your other posts I know that you are familiar with the Scriptures that support my position in general. I try to avoid "dualing scriptures" if I can :-) Now if I have answered as you instructed will you please answer my question. Do you, or do you not, believe that God created evil? God Bless....Jensen |

76 | how do you become saved | Romans | Jensen | 20169
Hi Rochelle...Welcome to the Forum:).. " Let's Go Soul Winning" was written back in 1962 by Dr. Jack Hyles. I will sumerize the book in a way that may help. Let's assume that the person believes in God. If not let me know and there are other question sets we could look at. But your question seems to indicate that the person recognizes God in some way or other. Q1. Do you know that if you died today you would go to heaven? Q2. Would you like to know? Q3. If I could show you how you could know, would you do it? You know what the person needs to do to be saved. Now here is a Bible map that will take you where you want to go with the person. First go to Romans 3:10 and underline the verse. Right beside it write the next verse 3:23. Go to 3:23 and underline it. Write the next verse beside it. Write 5:12 and then 5:8, and then 10:9-13 in the same manner. 1) Show her that she is a sinner. Use Romans 3:10 and 3:23. 2) Show her the price of sin. Use Romans 5:12 and 6:23. 3) Show her that Jesus paid the price. Use Romans 5:8. 4) Review the main points to be sure she understands. There are only four things you must know to be saved. First you must know that you are a sinner(3:10). Second, you must know the price of sin (5:12) and (6:23). Third, you must know the Jesus paid the price. Fourth, if we will receive that price as our hope for heaven and recieve Him as our Savior from sin, He will make us His children and take us to Heaven when we die. That's the review. Ask if you may pray. Ask her to pray. Always pray a simple prayer. "Miss Judy would you just say these words and mean them in your heart...'Lord, be merciful to me a sinner...forgive my sins and save my soul...I now receive Jesus as my Savior'?'." Now read 10:9-13. Now ask " If you were to die today do you know that you would go to Heaven." I hope this helps:-) God Bless....Jensen |

77 | Enter the Dragon! | Gen 3:1 | Jensen | 19905
Dear Lionstrong... You asked concerning Satan, "If he were created good how did he fall and so quickly?" He was a murderer from the beginning, the beginning of time of course. But God and his angels are outside of time as man percieves time to be. I think that ISA 14:12-15 "How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn!...." is how he fell. And I think that LK 10:18 "He replied, 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.'" is falling very fast :) But there is plenty of "time" that is outside of our time. And plenty of time to exercise free will. After all it did not take Adam very long either. God Bless....Jensen |

79 | lent..biblical or doctrinal? | Bible general Archive 1 | Jensen | 19893
Lent is one of the Liturgical Seasons. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). "1168 Beginning with the Easter Triduum as its source of light, the new age of the Resurrection fills the whole liturgical year..." Scriptual support LK 4:19 "to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Which is from, ISA 61:2 "to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn," The liturgy of any particular period of time depends on the circumstances. That is, either leading to, or following Easter. "...celebrating this annual cycle of the mysteries of Christ,..." as the CCC puts it. So here it is. LENT, which is this period of time leading to the Risen Christ Jesus is biblical. It is based on Scripture. It is also a church doctrine. The Catholic Church, among others, observe it. Here are the verses that contain "Salmon"; There does not seem to be any reference to two babies. At least directly. They all seem to be geneologies. There may be a secondary connection perhaps thru the mother or the father but I have not studied further. RU 4:20 Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, RU 4:21 Salmon the father of Boaz, Boaz the father of Obed, 1 Ch 2:11 Nahshon was the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, 12 Boaz the father of Obed and Obed the father of Jesse.
