61 | What does Genesis 3:24 mean? | Gen 3:24 | Country Girl | 126538
This verse 24 seems pretty clear. It is a result of God's attitude made plain in verse 22. Gen 3:22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"-- Apparently, God didn't intend for man to live forever in his sinful state. He might have done so if he wasn't guilty of sin but we all know now that sin introduced death, pain and suffering into the world. Everything truly good in the world is a result from God, everything else is because of sin or the Devil. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

63 | Do you believe in being chosen? | Gen 2:9 | Country Girl | 126082
I can only assume you're directing this question to me. Since I believe so strongly in our complete and total freedom as mentioned in my previous post, I really DO NOT believe that God or any One of the Godhead really seeks out any particular person. I do believe, however, that They are most willing and axious to be invited into our lives and They will assist us in living our christian lives if we'll pray that They do. In my opinion, God see us and our world in a very simple way; it's pretty much black and white for Him. Either we believe in Him or we don't. Either we believe in the Bible or we don't. Let's take this logic to its ultimate conclusion: If a person accepts the idea that God chooses those whom He determines can be or qualify to become a christian (or any variation thereof), then what's left for us to do but simply go to Heaven? Why the need for the rest of the Bible? If that was God's plan to select certain ones to come to Him in Heaven, then why so much emphasis from the Apostles on living a Godly life? God's already chosen and made up His mind. No, I'm afraid I see a lot more into our portion of this relationship. We must be found faithful, at least at the end of our lives, Rev 2:10. And it's not a good idea to "tempt fate" and try to live an ungodly life only to make it up to God in our last few months of life. Godliness or Christianity must become our lifestyle our attitude about life, our total submission of everything we are and everything we hope to be. I know and realize this begins to sounds like "works so we can earn our way to Heaven." But don't you see, although we must work out our salvation in fear and trembling, we must also recongnize our EXTREME need for the Grace and Mercy of God. That's paramount in this relationship. We can't take God's Love or His Grace and Mercy for granted. God paid too much with His own Son's blood to just give it away. But again it's just my opinion. What do you think? Blessings to you. 64 | Where does the Bible SAY that? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 126014
I noticed you forgot to quote the whole post or at least the most important portion (in caps below for emphasis). Now, would you please reword your question to this statement? Thanks. Subject: Which one are we not going to keep? Note: I just remembered one more tidbit of explanation. Quoted from your post: Matthew 5:17-19 (ESV) "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. [18] For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, WILL PASS FROM THE LAW UNTIL ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED. Here I would key in on the phrase "until all is accomplished." I've been taught to believe that this was Christ's mission: to come to the earth, live the Perfect Sinless Life and offer His body as a Sacrifice for our sins and take the OT with Him to His Grave. Thus upon accomplishing that great and noble deed, the OT no longer existed as far as God was concerned but Christ's Law of Liberty was executed in accordance with His Last Will and Testament on that day at Pentacost, Acts Chapter 2. So there's another question for you to reconcile with your position. If this is not what Christ meant with that phrase; what WAS to be accomplished and do away with the Law and the Prophets? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

65 | Which one are we not going to keep? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125875
I thinking we should comply or obey with all the commands of the NT, including those nine commandments carried over from the OT. Which portion of the NT do you see as disposable? Then again, which portion of the OT do you see that is essential or required of us modern christians? I thought Christ took the old law and its requirements to the cross with him in accordance with Col 2:14. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

66 | What Is The Meaning Of Life? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125853
About the best I can do is refer you to the Books of Job and Ecclesiates. There, you'll find some similarly tough questions. The answers are also not easy to dig out or to understand. They both get pretty deep. Good luck or rather God's blessings to you. Country Girl
67 | Key verse of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 125645
I'd have to say Jesus provided the correct answer to this question. Mark 12:29 Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; Mark 12:30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.' Mark 12:31 "The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these." The best part of this scripture is that Jesus gives us the second KEY verse of the Bible, all in the same paragraph and setting. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

68 | What is the meaning of John 4:5-42? | John 4:42 | Country Girl | 125428
To me this seems to be a straight forward story of an encounter with the Lord and Savior of the world. He made such an impression on her that she went to her fellow villagers and the testimony she gave compelled them to come out and verify for themselves as made plain in verse 42. What a wonderful priviledge for this forever unnamed woman, who in spite of her sin, like the rest of the world, she was still good enough to be selected as a vessel to carry the Good News for God and His Son. Is there something more important that I'm missing? Did you have a specific question about a particular verse? Please share with us. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

69 | Can ANYONE believe? | Acts 10:34 | Country Girl | 125145
We're all free to hear (or understand) His Word from several sources through many different mediums, i.e. radio, written correspondence or now the internet. The bottom line is that God wants to get His Good News to every living human that's lived since His Son was ressurected, and all those in the future. But undoubtedly, there will be some that live and die a whole lifetime and never understand a single word of that good news so they will be judged without the Word of God as He has said. Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." Blessings to you. Country Girl |

70 | will we be forgiven? | Mark 11:25 | Country Girl | 125144
I think Jesus parable answers your question very thoroughly. Notice in particular how this parable got started with verses 21 and 22 and then notice how He wrapped it up in verse 35. Yes, seems very conclusive to me. Matt 18:21 Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Matt 18:22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Matt 18:23 "For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. Matt 18:24 "When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. Matt 18:25 "But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. Matt 18:26 "So the slave fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you everything.' Matt 18:27 "And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. Matt 18:28 "But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, 'Pay back what you owe.' Matt 18:29 "So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you.' Matt 18:30 "But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. Matt 18:31 "So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. Matt 18:32 "Then summoning him, his lord *said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. Matt 18:33 'Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?' Matt 18:34 "And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. Matt 18:35 "My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart." What do you think? How would you answer your question? Blessings to you. 71 | King Davids mother was whom? | OT general | Country Girl | 125087
Upon inserting words, David and mother into the Word Search, this is all I get 1 Sam 22:3 And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, "Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me." But I suppose you've already done that. It appears the Bible does not identify the mother of King David, like so many other questions left for us to ponder. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

72 | Bibical mean for LOVE, WISDOM AND LIGHT | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124875
Generally speaking, I would recommend 1 Cor 13 for the subject of love. For wisdom, go to Ecclesiastes and for light I would go to 1 John. After reading these and studying them together, a person should gain a good Biblical position on God and how He feels about the subject. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

75 | Question about nations of the world | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 124542
I'm wondering why this is so important to you. It shouldn't be important to christians at all, as we're all able to be children of God. To me, this kind of discussion just breeds disrepect and sometimes even prejudice. Hopefully you've got good motives for generating this question. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

77 | woman and Jesus in Matthew 15 | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 124502
Matt 15:22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." Matt 15:23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us." Matt 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Matt 15:25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" Matt 15:26 And He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." Matt 15:27 But she said, "Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." Matt 15:28 Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once. I can only assume you're contrasting this rather interesting attitude from Jesus when most of the time, he was far more compassionate and merciful, especially to His fellow Jews. I can only say that Jesus knew the hearts of all people and He knew exactly what they needed most. In this case, apparently the woman needed to know her place in the world and she acknowledged that AND got what she was looking for. In contrast to this story is the rich young ruler who came to Jesus boasting of his devotion to God and following His guidance all his life. But when Jesus said "sell your possessions, come and follow me," once again Jesus knew exactly what this man needed but in this case, he didn't get what he was looking for...AND he was a Jew. What do you think of this interesting and rather challenging attitude of Jesus? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

79 | follow up on a new convert | Acts | Country Girl | 124496
Acts 15:36 After some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us return and visit the brethren in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are." This is about the best scripture I can think of to show it's a good idea for christians to check up on their new converts to the Family of God. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

80 | How did Peter become hypocritical? | Acts 10:1 | Country Girl | 124454
I too am not sure exactly what you referring to. Are you referring to the story from Paul in Gal 2:11? I found some discussion on that subject from Rowdy and EdB. The initial question is on Post No 118158, which you insert into the Quick Search. If this isn't what you're looking, please explain and we can take a peak. Blessings to you. Country Girl. |
