61 | What benefit does Paul afford the Jews? | Rom 3:1 | Asis | 82280
The Jew brought forth the word of God. Everything we call the Bible came from the Jew. Yeah yeah Luke was a Greek but he wrote down what he knew from the Jews. Yes some of Acts was personal expirience but the rest came from those who were Jews. Paul, Peter, James, Jude, Barnabas, John, Mark, all were Jews. And we have become Jews. For it is not a circumcision outwardly (physically) that makes one a Jew but it is one whose heart is circumcised who is a Jew. Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. If this is true then it is a great benefit to be a Jew. Welcome to the family u all. |

62 | Are all interpretations equal? | Rom 3:4 | Asis | 81705
Every man including you and I place a slant or bias on everything we say or write. There is only one absolute truth. We may try to explain what the Holy Spirit has revealed to us but as soon as we add commentary we introduce bias. I believe that the mark of a good teacher a teacher who is a gift from Christ does not add commentary, but teaches what God has revealed to Him. They do not teach what they have "figured" out. Their rule is Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. They live Romans 3:4. in fact we are not to be thinkers of the word but rather doers of the word. Our lives are to become the word. We are to be the word made flesh. not the commentary, not the website made flesh. We are to do what Jesus, God has said in His word. opr else we may hear Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. or Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? I want to hear Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. |

63 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | Rom 3:22 | Asis | 87920
If you repent of your actions and believe God you will be His righteousness (Romans 3:21-22 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; [22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ UNTO ALL AND UPON ALL THEM THAT BELIEVE:(emphasis mine) for there is no difference: [KJV]) If we confess our sins He is quick to forgive and forget them. This does not give us free reign to commit sins. If we believe God, we do our utmost to do what He tells us to do. Sin not. John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. [KJV] It is a matter of the heart. You cannot hide what you truly think from God. If you have repented of your actions then He knows it. If your just going through the actions He knows this also. If I have stolen does this make me a thief for all eternity. Maybe in the eyes of man, but not in the eyes of God if I believe Him. |

64 | still unpunished? | Rom 3:25 | Asis | 84058
I have to assume that the "their sins" in your question are non-beleivers. They will face the wrath of God because of their sin nature. As Paul says in Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [KJV] This is because we have a sinful nature inherited through the seed of Adam. When Adam sinned we were all contained in him. We are his seed or were his seed until we believe in Jesus. There is no one born who does not have inherited sin. For this reason God in His love for His creation offers His righteousness to any who will beleive on His Son Jesus Christ. Romans 3:21-23 21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. All have sinned and the gift of God is offered to all who beleive. No one can escape God's judgement of their sin EXCEPT by believing God through faith in Jesus. Believing that Jesus died for our sins and paid the penalty God had for us. We were Children of disobedience our father was the devil and we were enslaved to him through sin. BUT NOW Jesus, the Son of God has restored us to our position as sons and daughters of God and joint heirs with Jesus. So here is our conundrum. When a man works his reward it is not a gift but wages for a debt. However, to us who have not done the work but believe that Jesus justified us, the ungodly, our faith is counted as RIGHTEOUSNESS. Without works, we have obtained it. When we did not deserve it God chose to get involved in our lives with His power and His might. God’s righteousness is available to all that believe. There is no one who is special, not even a Jew. No one has this right because he is somebody. When God looked upon Abraham and counted him as righteous he had not observed the ritual of circumcision, the ritual that Abraham performed to seal God’s covenant with him. Abraham became the father of all who believe God. Even those who are not descendants of Abraham. If you believe as Abraham did, you are his heir and are counted as righteous. |

65 | Who are we in Chris? | Rom 6:23 | Asis | 84447
Does this help you? “IN CHRIST”, WHAT DOES IT MEAN It is a relationship between us and Jesus. It is our position in relation to the world. We are not of the world (John 15:19 19If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on account of this the world hates you.,) in the world, we are in Christ Jesus. I am in Him as I can be in the ocean, in bed, in the car, in good health. I am enveloped with Him. He wraps around me as my skin wraps around my muscles. He is the ANOINTING. The oil of the LORD is all around us. The unction is the Anointing. And we have it! As we walk in and through the atmosphere so we walk in and through the anointing which strengthens us. Being in CHRIST is being emersed in HIS being. We are HIM. HE is the head and we are the body. He is the Lord of our life and all our moves are governed by HIM just like all our moves are governed by our head. He directs our steps 37 Thou enlargedst my steps under me; And mine ankles did not slip. (2 SAM 22:37) 36Thou didst enlarge my steps under me, and mine ankles have not wavered. 66 | Does the Law still stir up sin? | Rom 7:5 | Asis | 84205
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. [KJV] That is us. As believers, we are justified by our faith in Christ. Rom. 5:1 through Rom. 5:2 (NKJV) 1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. What does it mean to be justified? "Just as if I never sinned" or "Just as if sin never was." That is our position through faith. Romans 7:5 is the way we WERE. Our lives were ruled by our passions, our appetites. Sin's power WAS over our flesh. Here is a key to our life IN CHRIST. BUT NOW. . . 7:6But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. We are DELIVERED from that which held us in slavery. Not that the law was evil. No no no. The law was the picture of righteousness. A thing we could not posess because it is impossible for man to follow all the law. It condemns us everytime we failed to follow any part of it. It showed us what sin was. BUT NOW . . . Rom. 3:21 through Rom. 3:26 (NASB) 21But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Rom. 6:22 through Rom. 6:23 (NASB) 22But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 7:6 (NASB) 6But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. Rom. 11:30 through Rom. 11:32 (NASB) 30For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, 31so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. 32For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all. Gal. 3:25 through Gal. 3:29 (NASB) 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. I don't know about you, I wanna live BUT NOW. But now I'm dead to sin. But now I'm crucified with Christ. But now I'm raised with Him in newness of Life. But now not I who lives but Christ in me. BUT NOW! That is the awareness I want in my life. I want righteousness consciousness not sin consciousness. Heb. 10:1 through Heb. 10:4 (NASB) 1For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, £can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Heb. 10:19 through Heb. 10:22 (NASB) 19Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. You see I've been made a saint. I am not a sinner saved by grace. I WAS a sinner but now I am a new creation. Number 23:19 |

67 | Legalism? | Rom 7:6 | Asis | 86067
Leagalism is: strict, literal, or excessive conformity to the law or to a religious or moral code (the institutionalized legalism that restricts free choice) (Merriam-Webster). Legalism is when we say if you do it this way it is right, but only this way. It is, "Here are the rules. Do it like this because this is the only way." The Law bound us to the rules. Jesus freed us from the bondage of the Law. Yet we can bring people into bondage by making the law of liberty a set of rules. For instance, we could say if you are not baptized you are not saved. If you don't speak in tongues you are not saved. God will not answer you prayers unless you are on your knees and end it with "In the name of Jesus." If your arms are not strtched to the limit then you have not raised your hands. Et certra, et cetera, etcetera. Rom. 7:6 (NASB) 6But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. 2 Cor. 3:5 through 2 Cor. 3:6 (NASB) 5Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, 6who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. Following the letter of scripture and leaving out the spirit of scripture is legalism. examples are aany of the objections raised by the Pharasees about Jesus doing anything on the sabbath. Matt 12:1-14; Mark 2:23-28; Mark 3:1-6; just to name a few. |

68 | Sanctified or not | Rom 12:2 | Asis | 83776
Correction: In the Quaker church I was taught that santification is a process. The process I see in scripture seems to be the renewing of my mind with the outcome that I show what God's Good Acceptable Perfect will is. In other words believe God in every way, His mind becomes my mind. Can I get an Amen or some correction.
69 | Why glorify satan? | 1 Cor 10:31 | Asis | 87554
I ahven't read anyone GLORIFYING satan. The answer to you question is :Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. [KJV] We must know our enemy. I do agree that our focus must be on our relationship with our Lord. The best way to fight the enemy is by being closer to Jesus. How can the enemy get to me when I am in Christ? |

70 | Emmaus, Are hope and charity gifts? | 1 Cor 12:31 | Asis | 79846
Hope is the result of trusting God. Rom. 5:2 through Rom. 5:6 (KJV) 2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. So what is hope? We in today's terms look at hope as a wish, "I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow, or I hope I get an A on the test." Biblical "hope" is the greek word elpis- a confident expectation with a sure basis. If we look at the scriptures above we see that hope is a result of truwstin God to see us through the trials and tribulations that come our way. and based on that experience we develop hope. God saw me through the last trial when I leqaned on Him totally to see me through, and God will see me through this time when I lean on Him completely so it is my expectaion on a sure basis HOPE that He will see me through now. Hope is a development in our having our minds renewed by God to His way of thinking and living. Charity as used in the King James version of the Bible is the word love. The way I am to love others as directed in the Bible is an impossibility for me to accomplish in my own ability. 1 Cor. 13:1 through 1 Cor. 13:8 (KJV) 1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. I cannot bring about that kind of love on my own. When God gives instruction He always provide a means to carry out that instruction, and He has in His instruction to love as indicated in the scripture above. It is by the fruit of the Spirit thast we are able to love with the God Kind of love. Live by the Spirit and the Spirit's fruit will show in your live. It is through submission that we allow the Spirit to live through us that His fruit come forth. Not a gift but a result of our surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. |

71 | who should speak in tounges? | 1 Cor 14:22 | Asis | 96418
rhy The tongues referred to in this verse is the tongue given with the expectation of an interpretation (1 Cor 12:10). In the church that I attend, an Assemblies of God church, when a message in tongues in given the whole church stops what it is doing and becomes silent. The non believer in the congregation is listening to the voice speaking in a language that cannot be understood and observing the actions of the congregation. The congregation is praying for an interpretation of the message in tongues and waiting expectantly for that message. The interpretation of the message is given in the language of the congregation. The non believer sees the unknown tongue and the interpretation as a sign from God. The believer sees the interpretation as a message from the lips of God. It is akin to prophecy. "This is supernatural utterance in the native tongue (1 Cor. 14:3). It is a miracle of divine utterance, not conceived by human thought or reasoning (Acts 3:21; Acts 11:28; Acts 21:11; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Cor. 14:23-32). It includes speaking to people to edification, and exhortation and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3).(Dakes Annotated Bible)" The whole experience is a sign to the non believer that GOD IS. To the believer the understandable message is one of edification. The gift of "tongues with interpretation" is a gift of the Holy Spirit. I THINK that a nonbeliever would not be willing to be used by the Holy Spirit in susch a way. The person whose mouth is speaking the words is not comprising the message. The Spirit of God is using the mouth, of a willing participant, to speak His Words. First in a language we don't understand and second in one we do. On the other hand, My God can do anything. This gift is for believers. I hope this answers your question. Asis |

72 | What were, are, they filled with? | 2 Corinthians | Asis | 83647
What you have asked is the basis of the "Pentecostal experience." We believe that all believers can receive a second experience of the Holy Spirit which we call Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The evidence of this baptism is the speaking in an unknown tongue by the believer. We believe that the Spirit of God gives us the utterance. We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in us at the time of conversion, acceptance of Jesus as Lord of our life. At a later time or at the same time, we give ourselves over completely to the Holy Spirit and Jesus baptises us with the evidence of speaking in an other tongue. We can quench that utterance the Holy Spirit gives us, so there are some Pentecostal or not who have the baptism but do not speak in tongues. Unfortunately we Pentecostals can become too rigid in our beliefs and say such things as "If you don't speak in tongues then you haven't received the "baptism". Poppycock. Here are some scriptures that we base our beliefs upon. Matthew 3:11 11“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. Acts 2:4 Acts 19:4-7 ( 4Paul said, "John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7There were about twelve men in all.), the Holy Spirit came upon them and they spoke in tongues. Acts 11:16 16And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John baptised with water, but ye shall be baptised with (the) Holy Spirit. 17If then God has given them the same gift as also to us when we had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who indeed was I to be able to forbid God? 18And when they heard these things they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then indeed God has to the nations also granted repentance to life. There are more references but these will do as a short list. Ckeck out my profile if you have more questions. I have more information. By the way, read Luke 4, paying particular attention to verse 1 and verse 14. Verrrry interesting. In most bibles if the word "spirit" has a capital "S", it denotes the Holy Spirit. If it has a little "s" it is some other spirit, man's spirit of fear, stuff like that. Although it has been my experience that sometimes a translator can make a mistake. |

73 | Who will inhabit the earth? | 2 Cor 5:8 | Asis | 84132
I'll probably be called bizarre and wierd for this answer, but I don't care the Father still loves me. Any how Gal. 1:10 (NIV) Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. God created us for one purpose, to rule the earth. At the end of the first five days of creation God saw that it was good. At the end of the sixth day . . . The Holy Bible, New International Version Gen. 1:26 through Gen. 1:29 (NIV) 26Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them RULE OVER (emph mine) the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. RULE OVER (emph. mine)the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. Gen. 1:31 (NIV) 31God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day. It was VERY GOOD after man was created. We can see very plainly that man was created for rulership of the earth. In fact we can see by reading Genesis 1 and 2 that there is no strife and no sin in the earth. From chapter 3 on the purpose of God's plan is to get us back into Genesis chapter 1 and 2. Jesus is the last Adam. He restored our relationship with God to that of the first Adam only better. Man is supposed to rule the earth and God has sent His Son to restore His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Col. 1:13 through Col. 1:14 (NIV) 13For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Jesus will return as the triumphal King and rule the earth with us at His side. Rev. 21:1 through Rev. 21:4 (NIV) 1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” The city where we will dwell will come down from heaven. We will live on the new earth in our new bodies. Rom. 8:22 through Rom. 8:25 (NIV) 22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. The earth waits as we wait for that glorious day when we will spend eternity with Jesus in the new Jerusalem. It was corrupted when we were corrupted (Genesis 3). If I die before Jesus returns I will go to heaven. But when Jesus returns and I still live I will meet him in the clouds as He returns and I will return with Him. . . to earth. |

The man Jesus was in the tomb. More to follow.
75 | Where did the Holy Spirit go? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Asis | 83206
Here is the rest. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. [KJV] Acts 2:24 through Acts 2:32 (DNT) . . .31he, seeing [it] before, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither has he been left in hades nor his flesh seen corruption. 32This Jesus has God raised up, whereof all we are witnesses. Jesus was born of the Spirit and man. He was the only man living who had His spirit born again. He also was the only man whose soul (His mind will and emotions) was in subjection to His spirit. He was a man filled with the Spirit and so able to perform the works of the Father. He was sinless because His body was in subjection to His soul which was in subjection to His spirit which was in subjection to the Holy spirit. This is the postion God wants us to be in. He wants us to follow or be led of our spirit which is led by His spirit. Jesus is the picture of the Kingdom Man, something we cannot attain in entirety until we are free of our bodies influence. What does this have to do with what happened when Jesus died? This: Jesus gave His life his body for us. He gave up the spirit and died. The same death that we will die if Jesus’ return is after our bodies wear out. James 2:26 says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. [KJV]” Jesus hung on the cross as a natural man our substitute. He died as we die. His inner man was separated from His outer man. His outer man was placed in the tomb and His inner man went to Hades… Hell. Alfred Barnes says of the word hell, “In hell—. The word “hell,” in English, now commonly denotes “the place of the future eternal punishment of the wicked.” This sense it has acquired by long usage. It is a Saxon word, derived from helan, “to cover,” and denotes literally “a covered or deep place” (Webster); then “the dark and dismal abode of departed spirits”; and then “the place of torment.” As the word is used now by us, it by no means expresses the force of the original; and if with this idea we read a passage like the one before us, it would convey an erroneous meaning altogether, although formerly the English word perhaps expressed no more than the original. The Greek word “Hades” means literally “a place devoid of light; a dark, obscure abode”; and in Greek writers was applied to the dark and obscure regions where disembodied spirits were supposed to dwell. It occurs only eleven times in the New Testament. In this place it is the translation of the Hebrew. “I have the keys of hell and death.” In 1 Cor. 15:55 it means the grave: “O grave (Hades), where is thy victory?” In Matt. 11:23 it means a deep, profound place, opposed to an exalted one; a condition of calamity and degradation, opposed to former great prosperity: “Thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell” (Hades). In Luke 16:23 it is applied to the place where the rich man was after death, in a state of punishment: “In hell (Hades) he lifted up his eyes, being in torments.” In this place it is connected with the idea of suffering, and undoubtedly denotes a place of punishment. The Septuagint has used this word commonly to translate the word.” (Think like a Hebrew when trying to understand thinks spoken by Hebrews) We have established which part of Jesus went to the grave and where His soul and spirit went. All this is very interesting, but the question was “Where was the Holy Spirit during all this?” It is obvious that Holy Spirit was in the bleachers supporting the work of Jesus. Goooooo Jesus! Jesus preached the good news, Holy Spirit yelled 'PREACH IT'. Jesus led the captives captive, Holy Spirit yelle Amen, Jesus then defeated death so we no longer have to be concerned about the second death. And all of Heaven erupted in PRAISE. All the while God’s Spirit was encouraging Jesus and propbably doing the wave while satan and death cringed and groveled on the ground. The when the devil was made powerless, Christ was united with His body, His resurrected body, the one that is flesh and bone. The One whose life (force[used so you know what I’m talking about]) is the Holy Spirit (this will get a response). We who live in the earth now are flesh and blood. Our blood brings life to the members of our body. Ressurrected Jesus said He was flesh and bone. Only the Spirit of God could be giving life to His members. (Doesn’t He do that now with believers?). So the question of Where did the Holy Spirit Go is answered. Now we know the truth and are finally free. If this has offended anyone, I ask your forgiveness it is not my intent to offend. It is just the way I is. You'll just have to accept me Asis |

PART 1 A.T. PIERSON In Christ The Epistle to the Ephesians The very first verse contains the expression, "faithful in Christ Jesus," and the third verse furnishes the key to this epistle in one short sentence, comprising the sum of all its exalted teaching: "Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ." This letter to the Ephesians lifts us to the very summit, the third heaven of privilege, and is especially rich in that phrase which we are now devoutly tracing throughout the New Testament. We find here at least ten separate uses or combinations of the words in Christ or in Him, as applied to the present estate of the believer, and as exhibiting His possible heavenly life even while on earth; and there is one besides which refers to coming blessing. These features of this epistle we shall find singularly true also of the companion Epistle to the Colossians. In this epistle we are declared to be, in Christ, ["Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 1:1).] chosen, ["According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love" (Ephesians 1:4).] predestinated to the adoption of children, ["Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will" (Ephesians 1:5.] accepted; ["To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:6).] to have redemption and forgiveness, ["In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace" (Ephesians 1:7).] to be quickened or made alive, ["And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2:1).] raised, ["And hath raised us up together" (Ephesians 2:6).] seated in the heavenlies; ["And made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:6).] to have been sealed and to have obtained an inheritance: ["13 In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory" (Ephesians 1:13-14).] these are the ten present blessings, and the one, yet future, is that in Him we are to be gathered together in one, with all saints, at His coming. The peculiar truth thus introduced to our view in this epistle is, therefore, the heavenly nature and divine fulness of this sphere of the new life. When by faith we enter into Christ, the life we are introduced into, is not earthly, but essentially heavenly. It is not to be confounded with joys and privileges which are of this world, however pure and lawful. In Christ we are lifted above the level even of saintly communion as such. Our human ties and relations with God's own people are very precious, but that of which the Spirit here treats is something higher than the human relation which disciples sustain here to each other. We ascend in thought above the Church on earth, with its assemblies of saints, its sacraments, ordinances, and fellowship; here we are viewed as one with Christ and one in Christ. He, indeed, in heaven, and we on earth; yet our life in Him a heavenly life because it is in Him who is in heaven. Hence the word "places," supplied by the translators, may mislead, for we are not as yet in heavenly places but in earthly places, though we may and ought to be in heavenly states of mind, heart, and experience. The difference is not a mere verbal distinction. A devout woman whom I once visited, to condole with her on the recent departure of an aged and most saintly mother, said to me with a smile: "For forty years, my dear mother's mind has been in heaven." And I could not but recall those exquisite lines of Goldsmith: Like some tall cliff that lifts its awful form, Swells from the vale but midway leaves the storm, Though round its breast the rolling clouds are spread, Eternal sunshine settles on its head. While yet in the body and on earth, the mind and heart may be in heaven; we ought to be essentially living on a higher, celestial level. This is the grand possibility and privilege to which the Holy Spirit turns our eyes. And, as all saints are, alike, in Christ Jesus, they are all in Him one. This thought of our unity in Christ runs side by side with the other, of our high privilege in Him, throughout these chapters. In fact, this unity is itself one of the most exalted forms of this heavenly life, and is more emphasized here than perhaps anywhere else, more figures being here employed to give it expression than in the whole New Testament besides. |

Part 2 AT Pierson In Christ Let us first of all glance at the teachings here contained as to this unity of saints in Christ Jesus. To begin with, the conception of Christ, as the sphere of all holy living, implies this unity. This sphere is invisible, however real, and our entrance into it and our abiding in it are not therefore matters of sense. Our place in it has to be obtained or received through the Spirit's working, and recognized or perceived through the Spirit's teaching. We must also recognize the place of other saints in the same sphere, by the same spiritual discernment. As we come into contact with true fellow believers and perceive in them the Christ image -- as we see that they breathe the same air and live the same life, that they also belong to Christ and partake also of His Spirit, our conception of the unity of all believers in Him grows continually in vividness of impression. We cannot help our love going out to them; to whatever different sphere they may belong, in family, social, or national life, they belong with us to that supreme sphere which is celestial and eternal. And here is the only real hope of unity in the Church: it is found in the recognition of our mutual relation to Christ, and in Him to each other -- as our Lord prayed, "that they also may be one in us" (John 17:21). The spheres of family life, social life, church life, and national life are all visible, and they impress us with a vivid sense of our unity, as brothers, neighbors, fellow church members, fellow citizens. But, to a true child of God, the invisible bond that unites all believers to Christ is far more tender, and lasting, and precious; and, as we come to recognize and realize that we are all dwelling in one sphere of life in Him, we learn to look on every believer as our brother, in a sense that is infinitely higher than all human relationships. This is the one and only way to bring disciples permanently together. All other plans for promoting the unity of the Church have failed. Let us live more and more in Christ, and then we shall and must live more and more in the bonds of a holy love and peace. It must be first of all the unity of the Spirit. This unity in Christ is so prominent in this epistle that we must not lightly pass it by. Besides the general conception of Christ as the sphere of holy life, common to all these epistles, we shall find the following other figures used here to express the same thought: 1. The body of which He is the Head and we the members (1:22-23; 2:16; 4:12-16). ["22 And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the church, 23 which is His Body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all" (Ephesians 1:22-23). "And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the Cross, having slain the enmity thereby" (Ephesians 2:16). "12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 but speaking the Truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the Head, even Christ: 16 from Whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love" (Ephesians 4:12-16).] 2. God's workmanship (2:10). ["For we are His workmanship (Greek, poiema), created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10).] Poiema -- same word as in Romans 1:20, ["For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made (Greek, poiema), even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20).] a creation with a definite purpose, or object, and we, all, parts of that sphere of creation -- "God's poem". 3. A commonwealth (2:12). ["That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth (Greek, politeia) of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of Promise, having no hope, and without God in the world" (Ephesians 2:12).] Politeia -- a community in which we are citizens, introduced into it by the blood (2:19). ["Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God" (Ephesians 2:19).] |

Part 3 AT Pierson In Christ For the complete In Christ go to http://www.whatsaiththescripture.com/ Then choose Voices from Philadelphia choose AT Pierson 4. A temple, with the middle wall of partition broken down (2:14). "He is our peace." Two courts -- one. ["For He is our Peace, Who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us" (Ephesians 2:14).] 5. One new man (2:15). ["Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the Law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain One New Man, so making peace" (Ephesians 2:15).] A very remarkable expression, nowhere else used. 6. One household of God (2: 19). ["Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household (Greek, oikeios) of God" (Ephesians 2:19).] Oikeios, members of one household. 7. One building or temple (2:20, 22). ["20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Corner Stone; 22 in Whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit" (Ephesians 2:20, 22).] In this case with reference to the one foundation, etc., and one habitation of God through the Spirit. 8. Fellow heirs (3:6). ["That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His Promise in Christ by the Gospel" (Ephesians 3:6).] Co-heirs, participators of one inheritance. 9. Family (3:15). ["Of whom the whole family (Greek, patria) in Heaven and Earth is named" (Ephesians 3:15).] Patria, tribe or race from one father -- an amplification and expansion of the idea of one household. 10. One body and one Spirit (4:4). ["There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling" (Ephesians 4:4).] The septi-form of unity is contained in chapter 4, one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father. ["4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One LORD, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, Who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Ephesians 4:4-6).] 11. The bride, or wife (5:22-23). 12. The panoply (6:10 and the following verses). All true believers are wearing the same armor, and panoplied in the same divine power. This unity with Christ and in Him is in this epistle made to depend on our partaking of His Spirit, and hence the prominence of the Holy Spirit, to whom the references are very frequent and varied: 1:13. That Holy Spirit of promise whereby we are sealed ["In Whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in Whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise" (Ephesians 1:13).] 1:17. The Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him ["That the God of our LORD Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give unto you the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the Knowledge of Him" (Ephesians 1:17).] 1:19-20. The Spirit of power who wrought in Christ and raised Him from the dead ["19 And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, 20 which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the Heavenly Places" (Ephesians 1:19-20).] 2:18. The Spirit of access, by whom we have access to the Father ["For through Him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father" (Ephesians 2:18).] 2:22. The Spirit of inhabitation whereby God dwells in us ["In Whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit" (Ephesians 2:22).] 3:5. The Spirit of revelation of the mystery of Christ ["Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit" (Ephesians 3:5).] 3:16. The Spirit of strength and might in the inner man ["That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man" (Ephesians 3:16).] 4:4. The Spirit of unity in the body ["There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling" (Ephesians 4:4).] 5:9. The Spirit of fruitfulness in all goodness ["(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" (Ephesians 5:9).] |

79 | Why is (was) it good to be a Jew? | Eph 2:12 | Asis | 82903
Dan58 How ya doin Paul is talking to gentiles (those who do not believe in Jehovah) in this verse. Of course since he is writing them they now believe in Jehovah but they didn't before they met Paul. Confused? Let me put it this way. God sent His Son to redeem (pay the price) for the world. To the Jew first then to the non Jew (this you know). Paul is talking to non Jews who have embraced Jesus, the Messiah, and Jehovah, His Father. Barnes makes this clear in the begining of his commentary on Eph. 2:12. Title: Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament Author: Barnes, Albert "Ye were without Christ—You were without the knowledge of the Messiah. You had not heard of him; of course you had not embraced him. You were living without any of the hopes and consolations which you now have, from having embraced him. The object of the apostle is to remind them of the deplorable condition in which they were by nature; and nothing would better express it than to say they were “without Christ,” or that they had no knowledge of a Saviour. They knew of no atonement for sin. They had no assurance of pardon. They had no well-founded hope of eternal life. They were in a state of darkness and condemnation, from which nothing but a knowledge of Christ could deliver them." Remember "Christ" is Greek for the Hebrew "Messiah". Jesus was born a Jew. I count it of great worth (things look a bit different to me than they do to you) to be a member of those whose lineage Jesus came from, a direct decendent of Abraham. Is there something special about being a Jew? Not in the eyes of God. There is neither Jew nor gentile . . .Holy Bible, New Living Translation Gal. 3:28 (NLT) 28There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all Christians—you are one in Christ Jesus. Yet it through the Jew that the scriptures were given to us. Holy Bible, New Living Translation Rom. 3:1 through Rom. 3:2 (NLT) 1Then what’s the advantage of being a Jew? Is there any value in the Jewish ceremony of circumcision? 2Yes, being a Jew has many advantages. First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God. The Jew who is one inwardly is one who believes in the Messiah. Because He believes God. Holy Bible, New Living Translation Rom. 2:28 through Rom. 2:29 (NLT) 28For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the Jewish ceremony of circumcision. 29No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not a cutting of the body but a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. Whoever has that kind of change seeks praise from God, not from people. In the days if the first church all the believers in the Way were Jewish. God is bringing His people, all the people, back to Him through His Son, Jesus. That is what is really important. We are all the same Jew, non-Jew, Greek, Barbarian, male, female, slave, free everybody the same to God. We should look at each other the same way God looks at us. The same. His sons and daughters all of us. |
