AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:5 When we were living in the flesh [trapped by sin], the sinful passions, which were awakened by [that which] the Law [identifies as sin], were at work in our body to bear fruit for death [since the willingness to sin led to death and separation from God]. |
Bible Question: How is the sin nature aroused? What are the members? Why is this awareness important? |
Bible Answer: Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. [KJV] That is us. As believers, we are justified by our faith in Christ. Rom. 5:1 through Rom. 5:2 (NKJV) 1Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. What does it mean to be justified? "Just as if I never sinned" or "Just as if sin never was." That is our position through faith. Romans 7:5 is the way we WERE. Our lives were ruled by our passions, our appetites. Sin's power WAS over our flesh. Here is a key to our life IN CHRIST. BUT NOW. . . 7:6But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. We are DELIVERED from that which held us in slavery. Not that the law was evil. No no no. The law was the picture of righteousness. A thing we could not posess because it is impossible for man to follow all the law. It condemns us everytime we failed to follow any part of it. It showed us what sin was. BUT NOW . . . Rom. 3:21 through Rom. 3:26 (NASB) 21But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Rom. 6:22 through Rom. 6:23 (NASB) 22But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 7:6 (NASB) 6But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter. Rom. 11:30 through Rom. 11:32 (NASB) 30For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, 31so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. 32For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all. Gal. 3:25 through Gal. 3:29 (NASB) 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. I don't know about you, I wanna live BUT NOW. But now I'm dead to sin. But now I'm crucified with Christ. But now I'm raised with Him in newness of Life. But now not I who lives but Christ in me. BUT NOW! That is the awareness I want in my life. I want righteousness consciousness not sin consciousness. Heb. 10:1 through Heb. 10:4 (NASB) 1For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, £can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins? 3But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year. 4For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Heb. 10:19 through Heb. 10:22 (NASB) 19Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. You see I've been made a saint. I am not a sinner saved by grace. I WAS a sinner but now I am a new creation. Number 23:19 |
