581 | Difficulty with a Brother in the Church? | 1 Cor 16:14 | justme | 187860
Jamey: Your Scriptual answer is found in Matthew 18:15-20. Notice there are specfic steps, and to reconcile is the goal. I would pray before each step you take. Agood starting point is always to ask if you have done something to offend this brother. Perhaps telling the brother some points about him you admire at first might aim the conversation in a better direction. A prayer I read went something like this " Lord, help my words to be soft and tender...as tommrow I may have to eat them." Once you say something you can't ever take it back. I hope this Scripture guides your path. justme |

582 | What were, are, they filled with? | 2 Corinthians | justme | 83644
Hi Ray! Justme here. Wow you have put some thought provoking questions up! Here goes, I will give you my best. In Matthew 28:19 we are told to Baptize in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. In John 16:7 Jesus is saying that He will send the "Helper" in GK. Paracletos, one called alongside to help; or Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor. John 14:16 agains refers to the "Helper" and in John 14:26 Jesus calls the "Helper" the "Holy Spirit". In Acts 2:33,38 refer to receiving the "gift of the Holy Spirit." and in Romans 15:13 there Paul describes in specfic ways the Holy Spirit in His power, works in the believer. In 1 Corthians 13, Paul tells us the greatest gift is "love". Then in Chapter 14 Paul goes into the "spiritual gifts", which if you notice the "Gift of the Holy Spirit" is given to all believers! The "spiritual gifts" are the results of maturing in our Faith and relationship and Lordship with Jesus Christ, these "spiritual gifts" are given as a gift, to use for the benefit of the Church to use in evangelism, worship, leadership, and reconcilation, of the lost and carnal Christian. We receive the Holy Spirit upon confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and our Savior. I can add that some believe the Holy Spirit enters our life at that point, and others believe the Holy Spirit enters our life only after you have followed the Lord in water Baptism. (I see both sides and I believe if you refuse to be baptized you proberly are not genuinely saved.) The Holy Spirit resides in us and is the Seal of our Salvation from the Father. If I so want the Holy Spirit to "fill" me and direct my way he will. I can also make the choice to ignore His Leading. That is sin. I don't discount that all the gifts are in use today. I do think there is an abundance of pressure, wrongly put, on new believers, to show proof of their salvation by the speaking in tongues. My personal belief is there is more to suggest that the gifts of "helps" is more evidence of the fruits of the Holy Spirit" than tongues or "utterances". I believe the Word says the "gifts" are just that. I doubt we should demand any one gift. I am willing to accept any "spiritual gift" the Lord wants me to use for His use. I sincerely hopes theis helps. I remember you often in my prayers, may God bless you Brother Ray. Justme |

583 | What is "Hope"? | 2 Corinthians | justme | 85103
InHisService: Welcome to the Forum! You ask a very fine question. I wonder how many of us "hope" in prayer, missing what we are to hope for. I think hope may have many definations for many people. In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, I am positive Paul hoped for the thorn in his flesh to be removed. The Lord knew what His will for Paul was. Often we pray for what we hope for rather than for Gods direct will in a situation or something we need or want. I believe in praying for the direct will of God, and in that I am sure to get the correct answer. There is no way to manipulate God. Faith and hope are often the two sides of the same coin. Paul hoped for removal of his thorn in the flesh, but by faith he was able to overcome his weakness by Gods powerful Grace. Paul learned contentment with his weakness so that for Christ's sake he became strong. I believe this is a lesson that takes a lifetime of walking close with the Master, Jesus Christ, to learn and to apply in our daily lives. As for specfics I encourage you to ask in hope of being in line with the Lords will. There are few in the forum that have serious health problems. We Hope for healing, we pray in faith that the Lords will is done in their lives, and it shall be. I have hope all my grown children will live a close walk with the Lord Jesus. I am very specfic with this prayer. In Faith I give their lives over to the Lord. The key is each of my adult children have freedom of choice. They can follow the Lords leading or not. I pray in faith they do. I can say I see God work in ways I never dreame possible. I have prayed about transpertation needs, material wants, and physical comforts. I have many times asked amiss. Many times the answer was far better than I had hoped for. I have faith that the Lord knows His will for me. Psalm 139 goes into very clear detail as to how well the Lord know me, and knows what is the very best for me, and you as well. I hope this is helpful, and blessings to you. Enjoy the Forum! justme |

584 | Who rules the world? | 2 Corinthians | justme | 238496

585 | how do you explain to someone that does | 2 Cor 4:6 | justme | 224285
ddhome: Beja and Lionheart have given excellent responses. I would add just a little more, if I may. Be a witness for Christ so those who do not believe may see Christ in you and ask why you are different. Share what Christ has done in your life, and pray for those you have a burden for. Perhaps most important is don't assume to do the Holy Spirits work. The Holy Spirit convicts, and tugs at the soul of man. If someone rejects the pulling of the Holy Spirit and rejects the Holy Spirit pleading to surrender to Jesus Christ, then that becomes the unforgiveble sin when they die. Sharring Christ is our responsibility, the conviction of sin and pleading is the work of the Holy Spirit. The rest is up to the person. I hope this helps. justme |

586 | Define 'spiritual death' | 2 Cor 5:21 | justme | 83112
gracefull: The misnomer that Jesus went to hell is taught is some groups that usually do not believe in the trinity. Scripture says Jesus bore our sins, and by His blood shed on the cross we are saved. Dis not Jesu say to the repentant thief today you will be withe ME IN PARADISE? Not hell. Many early church fathers believed Jesus was refering to Psalm 22, whenJesus was repeating "My God......" Can God who is present every where and is all seeing turn his back on anyone? God may Judge us, punish us, but Christ was God! Can God turn against Himself? To come close to a Hank Hanegraagg words. the lie that Jesus went to hell is a lie from hell itself. I pretty much agree. Just some thoughts... Justme |

587 | Divorce based on lack of support? | 2 Cor 6:14 | justme | 69733
SgtMac: Greeting and Merry Christmass. Your note reads like you are close to the husband in this situation. What you have seen or heard is just the tip of the ice burg! This couple has far more problems than this job situation, let me assure you of that. I would say they are equally yoked in one area, and that's they both have hardness hearts. When a man makes a job change and takes the time to work with his wife and to pray together seeking the Lords will, and they both are in step with God and each other good comes from being united as they should be. Only then transitions are possible. God has not given her the assurance this is His direction for them. Women have a very keen intutive sence of problems ahead. This I think is part the of God need for their need for proterction and security. This man is foolish to be so insensitive. He is willing to destroy his family to follow what he thinks God is leading him into. God never works like that. God proberly is YELLING to him to rethink this. This is one area many of us husbands just demand our wives to pack up our families and move because we feel it is God's will. The damage it does lasts forever in our children and our wives. Being a true husband and one that is an example of Eph.6 would make sure everyone is on board before making a move. So he gets the job and looses his family. Tell me what good comes from that? If a divorce results that is most assuredly NOT God's will! I am positive by Biblical Christian standards there is no grounds for divorce. Except as Moses permitted, for hardness of hearts. You can be assured there are much deeper wounds in this mans wife heart than just the job or the move. Be a true friend tell him he is making a very serious error, perhaps you will save broken people from braking up. I kwow of what I speak. I moved my family more than 22 times! My wife and children suffered and endured so much. I am fortunate and highly blessed to have my wife and family! My adult children have openly told me how so many moves cause them so many painful hurts and problems. Not many wives would have stayed with a demanding, stupid, insensitive man that I once was. My wife is an unusually strong Christian, she trusted in the Lord not me. We had some very serious problems that took us to the very brink of divorce. Thank the Lord He disciplined me with the most loving, excruciating painfull eperience I have ever endured. My Lord Jesus resucued me and helped me become the husband and dad I needed to become. To this day I am still being taught to be a better husband and dad, and grandpa. justme |

589 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | justme | 50081
Dear sufficient grace: please read Galations 3:28 and 5:6. Also use the Quick Search in the upper right of your screen than type in women church, or women pastors. This has been a regular topic for a long time. Perhaps from Adams time. I can use scripture to support both sides of this issue. Let me say women have been in ministry for over 200 years in this country. There have been women pastors, and there are many serving Christ today. For me it is a matter of culture, and bias, and how we understand scripture. I personally perfer to attend a church with a man as pastor. I would not feel unconfortable otherwise. However I can accept a woman as assistant pastor, youth pastor and women as Deacons. I was raised a Baptist, and they typically have a trustee, and deacon board. The church was run like a denocracy, where the members voted on everything! Now We attend a church that has an Pastor, Elder system. When they totally agree on an issue they bring it to the people and the people believe that these leaders have Gods leading, and we follow. This has been the very best I have ever seen a church work. Our church is growing, and so am I! So you see there are many ways to serve the Lord. You must serve with faith expressing itself in love, or it is not of the Lord. Should anyone doubt God uses women just read the gospels again and see how often women were there serving and caring. The Disciples cound not even stay awake to pray with Jesus. Who came to the tomb? I point out that God may be refered to as Father, but God is neither male or female. Us men would best be served to see that women are the more sensitive, and tender hearted. We can complement one another in the body of Christ if we do not lord it over and make a fellow child of the King feel less than we are. Remember scripture says to consider others more than our selver. Amen! End of sermon. agape, justme |

590 | The Primacy of Gods' word | Galatians | justme | 50173
Dear BradK: I must admit I do have a serious problem with women being alone in the mission field. I think if there is no man christian enough then maybe the mission should be halted from the first. It is high time men who feel that praeching and pastoring is for men only, to close the churches down! Perhaps, some of these wimpy pansey christian men will see people are going to hell because of there view women are second class christians! Culture has much to do with how we understand scripture! Lets turn arround and ask should we return to the culture ways of Paul? Please consider God does refer to him as a hen wwho would gather her chicks, and other references that show that God is tender atributes of a female as well. Why was Adam incomplete? What made him complete? a woman, female EVE, not Steve. God is neither male or female! As God moved on men to pen His perfect without error word He used words that we could understand. I doubt he was ever saying man is so much better, or woman is much less. We are co-workers with different abilities and responsibilities, different but both are equal in Gods sight. That's what Gal.3:28 is about. I gladly seek understanding of Scriptual truth, to up lift all children of God. Hope this helps also. agape, justme |

591 | Women be Silent in church? submission | Galatians | justme | 52927
New to Boble: Paul was refering to a time when very few women had even a basic education. Paul said ther were to ware ahair covering too. This was the culture at that time. so no you are freeto do as your church allows in these matters. I should mention this varies from church to church.Ephesians, Philippians, and Galations give a lot of insight into the culture at that time as well. agape, justme |

592 | Should women be allow to be a Minister? | Galatians | justme | 61217
neal: Welcome to the forum! Gal 3:28 Is a good stan firm verse. Many use this vers as a core theology in allowing women to serve anywhere in the church. This has been a widely debated issue for many centuries. So I doubt we can settle it here in the forum at any time in the distant furture either. Lets be fair and honest women do most of the work, be it at home, church, or the work place. For most women of our modern world they still have it a lot harder then most men. Now the ministry of the Nursery here is where you very seldom hear of men wanting to take over! Why not you may ask? No one dislike changing nasty diapers more than me! I think most of us strong manly hunks think that that is not ministry, right? Doing anything with snall kids is womans work in most churches I would say, from my observation. I am of the opinion that some of what we read, Paul was addressing the culture he was living in. We see simular cultures today in themiddle east. I can not think of the care given to jesus was more often than not done by women. Surely we have grown beyond the times of considering women as second class and below man. The sad thing is I know that in many churches today men make most of the choices, and far less than their share of the work. This is not as Christ would have it I am sure. Rarely, but on occasion there is a bossy woman who disrespects men, anf oversteps boundries. Then their problem with all men shows up with hardness and a mean attitude. No matter male or female this type of person needs a sign saying DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS. Men have it hard in ministry! Women have it even harder! I will ask you, are you ready to assume the Ministry of the Nursery? If not then you have answered your question. justme |

593 | What if you visualize your wife? | Galatians | justme | 71232
Steve V: I have taken the time to read all your notes, and the one question you have asked. I wanted to get as much of an understanding of you that you have said about yourself before responding to you. So my desire is to give you some advice that might be of use, perhaps. Your divorce and the situation of divorce happens to more than half of all Christian marriages. That is proberly no suprise to you. I am sure you and you ex wife are attempting to "putting God first this time". I seriously doubt you can do this on a continued basis with out professional Christian Counseling. Yes, it cost real money! Yes, it will take more time! Most couples say "we can't afford it." If you or her had a life threatening illness that demanded an opperation, no cost would be to much to save their life, right? Well think of saving your marriage, in the same light as that is exactally the same, that's what it amounts to. I do not mean a clergy trained in pastoral counseling. I mean a Degreed PHd in Psychology, who has a srtong Biblical back ground. I believe your wife having an affair is just a tip of the iceburg! I can assure you that neither of you were meeting each other's emotional and spiritual needs. This would not have gone this far if BOTH of you had not failed each other! Cheating sexually, on you marriage partner is always due to hardness of heart! I can say with complete certianty, without correcting and dealing with her and your past you are bound to repeat the same mistakes! After reading about your addictive patterns, of abusing durgs you have some very serious issues to deal with, just in your self. Repenting, changing your direction and renewing your ninds will take more hard work than most couples are willing to endure. You have a rough road ahead if you really want to "putGod first this time." I sincerely hope you do, but the odds are not in your favor! Many couples say they want to have God love them, but refuse to repent and learn to worship and adore our Lord Jesus Christ as marriage partners. I pray you follow this to completion, so God may bless you beyond what ever pain and suffering it will take you to rebuild your marriage. I can assure there are those of who know of where I speak, and would say AMEN! May God direct your steps. justme |

595 | Assurance of salvation | Eph 1:7 | justme | 219145
Mathaytes: There is a problem with giving the "Left Behind" books. The books are filled with fiction. That's why they are sold in the fiction department. These books were made to make a profit, and they sure did for both of the authors. For what you paid for these books you could have bought a nice set of Bible Commentaries, that are pure factual. I do not believe scaring people into making Jesus Lord, it seldom lasts. May I suggest the NIV Student Bible for your son. At twelve he is ready and this Bible is just what he will use for a long time. The NIV Student Bible answeres questions, just like the question he is dealing with now. I have given out many of these Bibles to yound people in the churches I have pastored in. All og our children got these Bibles, and our 35 year old sone still uses his even with his other Bibles. I really encourage you to do this. One of the authors of the books you mention has some very serious theological issues that cause me deep concern. When we mis fiction with such important Biblical Doctrines as the coming of the Lord Jesus, that is a HUGE problem for me. The same issue you are facing I have heard before when other have read these mixed truth with fiction books. How is you son to know what is fiction? I hope you see my point. God guide you in you special relationship with your son. justme |

Rowdy: May I be nitpicky? None of the items "help us go to Heaven." The items you listed are things we use in worshiping and renewing, and growing in maturity in Christ Jesus. What I like about the "church is the worshiping of our Lord Jesus as a group of Christians we call the "church" or "Body" Nothing depends as much as my attitude in Worshiping the LORD. 600 | denominations. | Eph 4:3 | justme | 148729
EdB(:- The thing that comes to my mind is the illustration about the cords of three abing stronger. It pains me deeply when I see a couple go to the mission field on just people sending them individule support. Often their funding drops below 50 percent, and they must return to their supporters and beg for more support so they can return to the mission field. This is not so with denominations. Most always thes missionaries are fully supported, and money is not the big foccus, but rather they can devote more of their to the ministry God has called them to. Having been a part of the American Baptist and Southern Baptist, these denominations do what I feel is a better way to support missions, and other ministries. Ed, I do not think this is the only way, but for me I feel it is the most effective way. Blessings. justme |
