561 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 61290
John, 1 Cor 2:14 DOES NOT APPLY to choosing Jesus Christ. This scripture, in context, refers to spiritual growth AFTER salvation. After salvation we still have a natural nature that wars against the flesh. He is saying for us (believers) to walk after (strive for) spiritual things. When we allow ourselves to indulge in drinking, cursing, lusting, or other carnality, we are walking after the flesh. God has separated the choice for Jesus. This is what it means by His being THE LIGHT. This is what the old testament types and shadows refer to. This is why there is only one way to salvation. Everyone knows. Everyone. We all have the spirit of life: Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. That spirit of life is what is refered to in John 1:9That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.[NKJV] Rom 8:29For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. "whom He foreknew, He also predestined " We are only predestined because God "foreknew" we would choose Christ. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

562 | Predestination: scriptures meaningless? | John | Pastor Glenn | 61285
JR doc, You wrote: "But, even in your theology "if it is a choice" it still must be a forgiven choice, or else you make salvation a "work" and not by grace alone. And this is what you explained and is what you believe, but not what the Scripture asserts. " What the scripture asserts: John 3:18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. "...he who does not believe is condemned already..." If we make the choice to believe in the name of Christ, then we do not need to be forgiven for choosing unbelief: "He who believes in Him is not condemned..." You said:"Salvation by Arminian Free-will Choice: Impossible (John 1:13) " Put into context: John 1:12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: God bless, Pastor Glenn |

563 | Predestination: scriptures meaningless? | John | Pastor Glenn | 61275
JRdoc, You said:"If Christ dies for (1) "all sins of all men" then why are any lost? After-all is not "unbelief" a sin? And if He died for the sin of "unbelief" how could any be lost--but some are aren't they! " Unbelief is a CHOICE. By not believing in the name of the only begotten Son of God sinners choose to remain condemned: John 3:18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. God's plan of salvation by choice gives all men the same choice that Adam had: life or death This is why Jesus was able to say: John 3:14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15that whoever believes in Him should not perish but[2] have eternal life. They had the choice to either look upon the bronze snake or continue to die of the snake bites that they had recieved: Numbers 21 9 And Moses made a (1) bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived. Salvation by Choice: 1. Preaching (Always necessary) 2. Hearing (Those that are eventually saved may not respond at first.) 3. Believing (Our Choice) 4. ***Born Again*** a. Spiritual growth (now have a ear to hear deeper truths, more light given), b. Stagnation (remain baby), c. Back slide Salvation by Predestination God Chooses his Elect 1. Preaching (does not matter since God will bring the light through someone eventually.) 2. Hearing (they will respond the first time since they already have an ear to hear.) 3. Believing (Automatic since God has already chosen them.) 4. ***Born Again*** (Automatic since God has already chosen them.) a. Spiritual growth (now have a ear to hear deeper truths, more light given), b. Stagnation (not possible), c. Back slide (not possible) God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

564 | Predestination: scriptures meaningless? | John | Pastor Glenn | 61244
JRdoc, Does'nt predestination make these scriptures meaningless? Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." Rom 10:14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? Rom 10:15 How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" Rom 10:16 However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?" Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Rom 10:18 But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; "THEIR VOICE HAS GONE OUT INTO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD." Also, it is clear that all men DO have a small amount of light. No one is in total darkness: John 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. God has dealt every man the measure of faith needed for a fair choice: Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 565 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 61062
John, You wrote: "...Without the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit applied to a man’s heart, no one would ever believe in Christ and repent. Genuine repentance is the fruit of a regenerate heart...." But it is posible to taste of the Holy Spirit and still turn back: Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 566 | How can anyone be saved? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 61060
"...that God elects people conditional to their positive response to the gospel." God leaves us the choice: Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore CHOOSE life, that both thou and thy seed may live: Every man has enough "light" to make the right choice: Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. We just need to believe in Christ: Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Joh 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. Joh 12:33 This he said, signifying what death he should die. God has dealt every man the measure of faith needed for a fair choice: Rom 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. I believe that "election" is based on the fact that God knows who will make the right choice, since he sees the future. I think there is more scripture on this. God bless, Pastor Glenn |

567 | real reason it was built | Gen 11:4 | Pastor Glenn | 61057
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. There was no other reason. As the scripture says, they wanted to make a name for themselves. It is clear that they wanted to get to heaven without a relationship with God. At this time everyone truly knew of the one true God, since Noah and his sons were still living. But the problem of sin goes beyond whether or not we believe that God exists: 1John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Fisherman, This is a very exciting subject because we have an enormous amount of information. The bible is not just "a" book. It is a library collection of 66 books that were written over a period of over 1400 years, by over 40 different secretaries who were willing to give their lives rather than change their story. For they did not write with the motivation to make themselves "look good" or to profit on an amazing new story. The bible is also totally historical. There is the dead sea scrolls, as well as, the presence of "hostile" witnesses that cannot be refuted. See the following links: http://www.ibiblio.org/expo/deadsea.scrolls.exhibit/Library/library.html http://www.westarkchurchofchrist.org/library/extrabiblical.htm http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs2001/1224christmas.asp The problem is not that there is a lack of historical, scientific, or natural evidence. The problem is as stated in the scriptures: Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Ray, You quote Matthew 13:15 and John 9:40 without any comments. You also said: "Pastor Glenn, may I suggest that you use a version that capitalizes Deity in your studies. I can go with "God is a Spirit" but I could not go on and says that we "must worship him in spirit and truth." If He is a Spirit, then acknowledge Him as such." I looked up these scriptures in 3 different versions. They all fail to capitalize spirit here. I see this as a discription of His spirit nature, as opposed to a physical nature. So I see no problem here. The KJV is what I used, it said "God is a Spirit...". However, when it says that we "must worship him in spirit and truth.", it refers to "our" spirit (lower case) nature. NASB: John 4:23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." KJV: Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. NIV: 23Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." 574 | follow-up on the signs | Matt 24:29 | Pastor Glenn | 60755
The great tribulation will be so obvious that no one will fail to notice it. Yes we are to consider the famines, earthquakes and wars as fulfilling signs or the APPROACH of His coming rapture of the church. Most Christians believe that He will rapture the church just before the great Tribulation. I do not know when the Tribulation or rapture will be, but the tribulation will last 7 years. 575 | Biggest battles any Christian faces? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 60754
Yes Ray, I go with the capital "Spirit who gives life". When it comes to the "meat", we do not get more spiritual by deeper intellectual discussion or intellectual growth. A baby might eat meat, but his body will not be able to digest it. We must always humble ourselves, pray and seek God's face to continue to grow spiritually. When it came down to intellectuallism, there was none greater than the Scribes and Pharisees. But this is what Jesus said of them: Mat 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Mat 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Mat 13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. Jesus told the woman at the well: Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

577 | How do i find Peace through Suffering? | Ps 69:1 | Pastor Glenn | 60713
Psalm 27 An Exuberant Declaration of Faith A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? 2When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. 3Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. 4One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. 6And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, LORD, I will seek." 9Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. 10When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. 12Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. 13I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. 14Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! |

578 | Is it wrong to preach against sin? | Matt 7:2 | Pastor Glenn | 60698
Thank you Hank, Your answer concerning condemning sin brings to mind John 3: "17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." Also: Matthew 10:22 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. God bless, Pastor Glenn |

579 | Biggest battles any Christian faces? | 1 Cor 2:14 | Pastor Glenn | 60683
Ray, Isn't this one of the biggest battles that any Christian faces? We all need to strive to become more spiritually minded. Look into the following scriptures that relate to this: Heb 5 Spiritual Immaturity 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. 1Cor 3 1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal? John 6 63It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Gal 5 Walking in the Spirit 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[3] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21envy, murders,[4] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. The point is that brute force study is not enough. There is no substitute for prayer and fasting in learning the deep things of God. The Apostles realized this before they anointed the first 7 deacons. Daniel realized this also before he fasted 21 days until Gabriel arrived. God bless, Pastor Glenn |
