541 | Who's talking? | John 5:37 | retxar | 3734
Does this mean that all previous hearings of God's voice and His O.T. appearings were accually from God the Son? What about God's voice at Jesus's baptism, and at the transfiguration?
542 | unlimited atonement? | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 3719
I’m are not one (Arminians), never will be, but hears the way I see it. Jesus prayed for the Peter to not falter, even though He knew he would deny Him anyway. (Luke 22:32). Jesus prayed for the ones who crucified Him would be forgiven, even though He knew they would not repent (Luke 23:34). Jesus offered the rich man salvation, even though He knew he would reject it (Mark 10:21). If I offered you a gift I had no intention of giving you, or was not even available, even if I knew you would not accept it, I would be a lying. Isa 55:1, Luk3:6, Joh3:16, Acts2:21, Rom5:18, Rom10:13, 1Tim2:4, Titus2:11, 2Pe3:9, Rev22:7, Lie2 (lº) n. 1. A false statement presented as being true; a falsehood. 2. Something that deceives or give a wrong impression. God: 1. Perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship. 2. DOES NOT LIE!!!! |

543 | Is Interracial marriage Bible supported? | Num 12:1 | retxar | 3707
Num 12 answers this question for me. Aaron and Miriam spoke out against the marriage of Moses and a black lady from Ethiopia. This made God very angry. Look at verse 12 "Miriam became leprous, as WHITE AS SNOW." By the way, I don't think this was Zipporah because her father was Jethro, the priest of Midian. I suppose she could have been adopted though.
544 | Bible study software suggestions, please | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 3698
I have used Logos, Bible Explorer, and e-Sword. I know nothing about Step. My ranking. 1. e-Sword 2. Bible Explorer 3. Logos e-Sword is a free download by the way (really no strings attached). It is written by a computer programer named Rick Meyers, who feels he should give the software away. He quotes "(Mat 10:8 ISV) "Without payment you have received; without payment you are to give.” Jesus told us that since we've been blessed we should bless others. For years I have been on the receiving end of His glorious riches, and I am happy to provide this blessing to others in the form of Bible software." of course he will accept a donation which I think anyone should give if they can afford. Check it out e-sword.net |

546 | Baptism of the Holy Spirit after reborn? | 1 Cor 12:13 | retxar | 3632
You are correct in the fact that the disciples already had the Holy Spirit living in them before Pentecost (John 20:22), but they were not baptized with the Holy Spirit. This first occurred at Pentecost, just as Jesus promised (Acts 1:5). This could not have been a one time occurrence with the disciples as the only recipients, as you suggest. Did the disciples go “to the end of the Earth?” (Acts 1:8) The account of tongues at Pentecost is the only time I recall where tongues were actually understood by someone other than God, so this could have been a miracle of hearing, as well as evidence of the Baptism of Holy Spirit as promised. Note: vs6 "everyone HEARD them speak in his own language" Note: vs8 "we HEAR, each in our own language" Note: vs11 "we HEAR them speaking in our own tongues.” The utterances of praise that were given at Pentecost were real languages? Maybe, maybe not. A mistake to equate this with any specific gift? I don’t think it’s a mistake. Neither does the Word. (Acts11:17) No mention whatsoever (here or elsewhere) of anyone speaking in some kind of "heavenly" language being connected with the Holy Spirit? Huh, I don’t know about that. (1Cor14:2) 1Cor13:1 “tongues of men and of angels” an exaggeration used for emphasis? I guess you might could read that into this scripture. I have read JM commentary also. Baptism of Holy Spirit to be “spontaneous event initiated by the Spirit” yes -- “not led, encouraged or brought on by any action of man?” Certainly not forbidden. (Acts 8:14-15) I will end on this note: This is not meant as an attack on my part, just as you have said it was not an attack on your part. I accept that, PLEASE do the same. You admit that a separate experience of being filled with the Spirit is possible, so I assume you cannot deny with any Biblical bases, only personal experience or observation. There is not much talk on this forum of personal experiences or even personal relationships with Jesus. I assure you, I have both. (Not to imply AT ALL that others do not have). Most of the talk is on theological issues, which will only take someone so far. Acts 15:8 says "So God, who knows the heart, acknowledged them by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He did to us. Notice the Holy Spirit was not given because of knowledge, but the HEART. I will make this deal with you. I won’t try to prove the Bible with any of my experiences or lack of them, or anybody else’s. My experiences or lack of them do not prove or disprove the Bible. The Bible stands on it’s own. If it does not line up with the Word, throw it out. |

548 | How can we influence who is saved? | 1 Pet 2:9 | retxar | 3580
Sorry jvh0212, remember the original question from dud_m3? "How can we influence who is saved?" The content of the messege was "the question I'm having difficulty understanding both this verse and the purpose of evangelism from a Calvinistic interpretation", that was what I was responding to, not you. I'm new here man, give me a break! I thought that was something anyone could respond to. Sorry.
549 | How can we influence who is saved? | 1 Pet 2:9 | retxar | 3566
The scpipture and your understanding are not the the problem. Examine your belief in Calvinism. Forsake it if it does not line up with the Word.
550 | Please tell me: What does "filled" mean? | 1 Cor 12:13 | retxar | 3565
Joh 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and WILL BE IN YOU. (disciples will recieve indwelling of HS) Joh 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. (disciples recieve indwelling of HS) Act 1:5 "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." (promise of filling of HS) Remember the diciples already have HS living in them, but they are not FILLED. Act 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; (promise of filling of HS) Act 2:4 And they were all FILLED with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 551 | Will we see God's face? | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 3467
Sorry for my short answer before. Let me explain. If 2Co 3:18 means we are now as the reflection of the Lord in a mirror, and are being transformed into the same image as the Lord, and if 1Co 13:12 means we now see in a mirror dimly, then "face to face" must mean our face and the Lord's face. |

555 | Favorite Bible study tools? | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 3418
The Thompson Chain Reference Bibles are available in KJV, NKJV, NASB, and NIV. I prefer the NJKV because it is a modern, literal translation, just as the NASB, but is based on the Antioch manuscripts, where the NASB is based on the Alexandia manuscripts. I really don't want to get into a debate over this, but I base my belief on Acts 6:7, 12:24, 13:49, 19:20 which describes the Word of God as growing, spreading, and multipling, which seem to describe the Antioch manuscripts. The Alexandria manuscripts pretty much just stayed on the shelf and did not grow, spread, or multiply. I also know that whatever is not from faith is sin (Romans 14:23) and you have to go with what you have confidence in. Thank you for your comments and guidence. Don't get me wrong, I am not TROUBLED by study Bibles and commentaries, they are great tools, but they can be very opinionated, like me! God Bless, Jesus Lives!! |

Thompson Chain Ref. Bible is my favorite Bible study tool because it contains no cometary at all and alows me to interpet God's Word with God's Word, as the Holy Spirit leads, as God planed (John 14:26). Don't get me wrong, I own and use comentarys, but be careful, even the best contain a few doctrinal slants some where or another. I don't think I could write a comentary myself without introducing some "opinions" of my own, as I think anyone would have a hard time not doing. I also use e-Sword Bible Software, which is free by the way (e-sword.net) which I prefer over Nelson and Bible Explorer (and is 300 dollars cheaper!). It has a download called Treasury of Scripture Knowledge that is a lot like the Thompson Chain Ref. that I like a lot.
557 | 1Ki 7:23 apparent error measuring sea | 1 Kin 7:23 | retxar | 2496
Look down at verse 26 "It was a handbreadth thick; and its brim was shaped like the brim of a cup," A handbreath is about 3 inches and the brim of a cup is flared out, I would say at least an inch. The measurement from outside to outside of the brim was 10 cubits (about 180 inches). The circumference of the bowl would probally be taken from the inside. So lets do the math. Brim to brim is 180". Subtract the thickness twice (6 inches) we now have 174 inches. Subtract the flare twice (2 inches) we now have 172 inches. 3.14 (pi) x 172" is 540.08 inches. 30 cubits is about 540 inches!!! This is just over 1/16 of an inch of being right on!! I know of no building contractor anywhere that can measure something 45 feet long this close, let alone build it!! This is a powerful text to prove The Bible's accuracy, not it's error.
558 | Stars do cease to exist...Isa 40:26? | Is 40:26 | retxar | 2446
Do stars really cease to exist? How do you know? I really don't know if they cease to exist or not. Anyway, even if they do, this verse does not say either way. It simple says "not one of them is missing" (faileth-KJV lacking-LITV). In another words, there under the control of God and not one gets lost and are all in the arrangement as God desires.
