483 | Abraham inheriting the whole world? | Heb 11:8 | Tamara Brewington | 205545
Dear Woldem, Welcome to the forum! Check out Hebrews 11:8-10 - we have here that Abraham is said to have been sent out to receive an inheritance of land, a place, not the whole world... He went out and he was an alien looking for a city which has foundations in God, talking about faith here as well as the promised land. But he never found it see - verse 13 says these all died in faith without having received the promises. See Genesis 12:1-3, here God promises that He will make Abram a great nation and in you all the earth will be blessed. But this is not about Abraham inheriting the earth at all, it is about his seed being blessed in the future and being a great nation. Here is who will inherit the earth. The righteous - Psalm 25:13. The meek or the gentle - Mathew 5:5. The blessed by God - Psalm 37:22. The humble - Psalm 37:11. The picture we get is that the saved inherit the earth - check this out you have to be made righteous by Jesus in order for God to say you are righteous, you are not truly humble till you bow down answer to God, you don't become truly gentle or meek until you get sanctified which takes getting saved first. So the saved inherit the earth. God's Day, Tamara |

484 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Tamara Brewington | 205558
Dear Thomas, I have been taught that it is factual, but I don't know which books to point you to to prove that. Apparently Rabbis as a matter of course did not take any pay for being Rabbis, it was seen as being dishonorable to do so, one was working for God not for pay. According to what I have been taught, which is by a pastor whose profession is as an historian, all Rabbis had a trade on the side that they learned from their fathers. In fact all men learned the trade of their fathers anyhow. Paul was studying under Gamiliel in order to enter the Rabbinical in the sect of the Pharisees. Paul was a tent maker by trade a leather worker, which we know from Acts 18, and we know that for the entire time Paul was in ministry he worked for a living, unlike the other apostles; see I Corinthians 9. At that time in history a philosopher would be supported by a trade or a patron, or begging or by charging a fee for services, which Sophists did, but this was considered offensive for a philosopher or a teacher of religion to charge a fee. This was true of Greek culture and Jewish culture and of Roman culture. Paul supported himself always in all places regardless of donations by tent making, a carry over from his Rabbinic training days. See I Thessalonians where Paul sets the tone about how he views doing the work of God. See I Corinthians 11:7-12 for Paul's refusal to take money for his services for Christ. Paul is the only apostle who worked for a living and he was the only apostle who had been a former Rabbi too, where before he did not take any pay because he loved God and would not bring dishonor to His name, how much more now was he determined not to be a philosopher or teacher of Christ for pay in order to bring glory to God and not besmirch the name of Christ. 485 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Tamara Brewington | 205561
Dear Thomas8, You make an excellent point there Thomas8, freely ye have received, freely give... Yes I like that a lot, the word is absolutely free of charge Thomas, it is a gift from God to be handled with great care. It reminds me of II Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. Paul was always seeking how he could humble himself for the sake of the gospel, he is our great example after Jesus of serving Christ without arrogance giving the gospel from pure motives without guile or thinking of self. I have greatly enjoyed studying with you Thomas8 you are a true student of the Bible who is interested in dividing the word of God because you love God. And you are interested in studying in here with others because you love the brethren and it shows in how you act towards others. It is not just the grace of your response, it is your intent in continuing to look at the texts from differing interpretations than your own and inviting others to look at your interpretation too. That is something to appreciate indeed... God's Day To You, Tamara |

Dear Michael, Please forgive me my dear scholar. We are all here so used to mostly seeing questions to be answered and less and less, folks post notes as a sharing of their repository of exposition. As you noted, it is a free resource in an open access environment for all users to ask questions, give answers, and experience spiritual growth as a result. Which was why I got confused about your intention, it is a forum to ask questions and give answers. Rarely with the exception of Doc, does anyone drop a golden nugget for us all to ponder as a note dropped in the Primary section where questions that have been answered are left. When he does he makes clear his intention in posting by his clarification of the context of his content, usually by virtue of the content itself without explanation, which I did not see you had until you explained to me your purpose in posting it. Next time, I will just assume you are edifying us all and think that that is your context of your content. If you feel I presummed to speak for everyone else then I do aplogize to you in all sincerity. Looking forward to being taught by you. God's day to you, Tamara |

490 | How do we get saved, by baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 203712
What do you believe is the truth about how to get saved, do you believe that it is necessary to get baptized to get saved, or do you believe that salvation is granted as soon as you believe; base your answer on your assessment of Galatians 5:4, Romans 11:2,3, I Peter 1:4,5, Romans 8:37-39?
491 | How do we get saved, by baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 203714
Good answer I believe this as well, however my concern was in how to reconcile apparently conflicting scriptures;Galatians 5:4, Romans 11:2,3, I Peter 1:4,5, Romans 8:37,38, about the requirments of salvation since I am encountering folks who believe in a false doctrine based on using only one set of scriptures and not all of scripture. Feel like giving a go at reconciling these scriptures?
492 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 203731
Interesting view that veiwing these scriptures as opposing arguments is tough, but you did not reconcile the scriptures in question. I already agree that salvation is by faith alone, by grace alone. Are these really different aspects of God's grace, or are they irreconcilable?
493 | Do we get saved by Baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 204348
Dear Doc, I have been working on this one for a while, I think I may have come up with a solution... Apparently conflicting scriptures; Galatians 5:4 You have been severed from Christ you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. The word severed is actually ceased to have effect. Ceased to have effect from annointed Christ were you who in law are being justifed, of the grace you fall out. That is the original wording and word order. Because it is impossible to lose one's salvation after once being saved, this is not saying that a believer who had been given grace fell out of salvation. It has to mean that one to whom the grace was offered who had been saved fell from grace and Christ ceased to have effect in thier life. In which case it is possible to be restored to a state of grace and for Christ to once again have effect in their life. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The word order is not the important thing here, but the elements are. Peter was not trying to imply that the Holy Spirit is the result of water baptism. Peter was not trying to imply that that baptism confers forgiveness. Peter was saying first, repent and then be baptized, second you will recieve the Holy Spirit. Look at Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of the truth, the gospel of your salvation - having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. According to this passage once you hear the gospel and believe it you receive the Holy Spirit right away. See Acts 10:34-48 Peter is preaching the gospel and before he has a chance to finish and baptize every body, they believe, get saved and the Holy Spirit falls and they start speaking in tongues. Then Peter says nothing should prevent them from being baptized should it? The order of the events of salvation cannot be dictated as carved in stone based on Acts 2:38 or scriptures like it. I Peter 1:4,5 To obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. This passage shows that salvation is imperishable, it cannot be lost, or turned off. Believers are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed at the end. Romans 8:37,38 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of Christ, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Created things, angels, powers, death, principalities all these things involve sin and sin cannot separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus. Here is another one commonly used to mean that a believer once having believed can lose their salvation. Hebrews 6:4-6 For in the case of those who have once tasted the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted of the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. The passage is talking about those who are false prophets or apostate and both of these terms refer, in one sense, to those who were never saved, but professed to be. Consider Judas; did he not go out with the twelve healing, casting out demons all in the name of Jesus? Consider what Jesus says in Mathew 7:21,22 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform miracles? And I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness. According to this passage Jesus is saying that the folks who did do the works of Jesus in His name, if they don't do the will of the Father will be perishing. That means back up in Hebrews that it has to be talking about these same people who have made a false profession of Christ even though they used the name of Jesus to perform miraculous works and were given every opportunity at fellowship with God. I hope this qualifies as having reconciled the scriptures. I see that I originally left out the Acts 2:38 inadvertantly and in the same way put in Romans 11:2,3 by mistake. God bless, the hat lady |

495 | who will receive the crown of glory | 1 Pet 5:4 | Tamara Brewington | 205966
Dear John, Yeah John that was kind of cool! I am wondering what the difference is between the crown of glory in I Peter 5:4 and Revelation 4:10,11 and the crown of life in Revelation 2:10? I am seeing too in II Timothy 4:8 the crown of righteousness? The crown of rejoicing I Thessalonians 2:19? Do you know John? Those are three different Stephanos's, victor's crowns... 496 | Sin unto death | 1 John | Tamara Brewington | 203750
The only sin that cannot be forgiven is saying that Jesus did the work of the HOly Spirit by the spirit of the devil. Mark 3:23-29. All other sins including not believing in Jesus, including speaking against Jesus and God can be forgiven, but not speaking against the Holy Spirit...

498 | Are we judged when we come to Jesus now? | 1 John 1:9 | Tamara Brewington | 203755
I John 2:1,2 says if we sin we have an advocate. The only sin that cannot be forgiven is to say that the works of Jesus done by the Holy Spirit were done by the spirit of the devil in Mark 3. God forgives the Prodigal son, don't worry, just believe and come on back, everyone will be glad in heaven and on earth in church that you came on back.
499 | Confess to the person you have wronged? | 1 John 2:2 | Tamara Brewington | 204501
I found something close; James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray to one another so that you may be healed. I don't find anyting like the verse you are trying to find. I looked up every place the word confess appears and it is not in there. I don't believe the Bible teaches what you are asking though. The Bible teaches us to love one another, and to love our enemies. It teaches us to ask Jesus for forgiveness of sins, not other people we have wronged. Although that might be the right thing to do out of love it is not required. Here consider this; I John 2:1c if anyone sins we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. There is a verse in the Gospels that says; Mathew 5:23,24 therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering. This verse says to go be reconciled to your brother. But it doesn't say specifically to go confess your sins to your brother, maybe to acknowledge them. Hope this helped. God Bless, Tamara |

500 | explanation to rev:1-3 | Revelation | Tamara Brewington | 203702
Revelation 13:1-3, verse 1: the dragon is Satan and he was standing amongst the multitude of people (sea shore), the beast is the Anti-Christ the person and he was coming up out of the nations (sea) and he has authority over seven nations and ten kingdoms and he has blasephemous names written on his authority. Verse 2: the Anti-Christ was full of the power of the nations and Satan gave him his power and his seat of authority in the world. Verse 3: The Anti-Christ or one of the heads of a part of his kingdom (theologians are in disagreement as to which)is literaly slain and then literaly is raised from the dead in a mockery of the rising of Jesus from the dead. And because of this evil miracle by the power of Satan, rising from the dead of Anti-Christ or his head of state will cause the whole earth to be amazed and they will follow him (verse 4 then says they will worship him, which is why most theologians say it will be the Anti-Christ who will rise from the dead and not a memeber of his courts).
