41 | "HOW MANY DAYS DID IT TOOK DA WATERS 2 D | Gen 8:14 | Mommapbs | 200328
Greetings rajesh005 - Genesis 7:11 tells us that the flood began on the 17th day of the second month in the 600th year of Noah's life. The earth was not dry until the 27th day of the second month in the 601st year of Noah's life. You do the math. (Can you imagine being zoo-keeper for that length of time?!) Blessings, mommapbs |

42 | strength in the Lord to overcome fatigue | Matt 11:28 | Mommapbs | 199707
Welcome to the Forum CHo. Fatigue takes many forms. Sometimes we bring it on by what we do, sometimes it is the result of things we have no control over. Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." (Mk 2:27) When the fatigue is a result of our choices,I suspect God may use this as a "red flag" to capture our attention. When God is at work in us, and we are completely resting IN (relying upon Him only), fatigue may be present but it will not be an issue - "I can do all (ALL) things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phil 4:13) Jesus bids us to "Come unto Him." This is the only step we have to take. As we submit to Him, we find the rest that He promises to give. There are things that cause fatigue that we have no control over: illness, certain medications etc. The emotional and physical aspects of fatigue can be a "trial" of sorts to the one experiencing it. James instructs us to "consider it all joy . . . when we face trials of various kinds." (James 1:2) The joy of the Lord is my strength - He rejoices over us!(Neh 8:10;Is 62:5) We rely upon God for our joy and this strengthens us spiritually. When fatigue hits, "Be still and know that I am God." (Ps 46:10 see v 1 too) Think about what it means for you to "be still." REST. Allow God to speak to you in this still period. Look to Him to reveal things in your life that need to be changed. Trust Him to be at work in you. From personal experience, fatigue is a gift of sorts. Fatigue demands that we stop doing - and concentrate on "being." Blessing to you, mommapbs |

43 | its some to think about | Gen 1:1 | Mommapbs | 199534
Greetings blue eyes and welcome to the Forum! This is whatGod's Word has to say: When Jesus comes to earth again (Rev 19:11vv) He will reign for a thousand years (Rev 20:6) and then the whole earth will be judged (Rev 20:11-15. John tells us, "THEN, I saw a new heaven and a new earth" Revelation 21:1. God is making all things new (Rev21:5, not all new things. He will restore what He has created to its original perfection. 44 | What is a counted all joy in trials? | James 1:2 | Mommapbs | 199480
Greetings Doc - as I study James and ponder this notion of joy in trials, I'm wondering if we need to look at the little word "it." What does "it" refer to? Might "it" be referencing verse 12 - "Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him." We rejoice because our names are written in Heaven (Luke 10:20);we take joy in knowing that regardless of what we are going through now, our reward is in Heaven (Mt 5:12) - so we can be glad as we wait patiently (endure) here in this life. Is there a connect here? (see also 1 Peter 1:7) Blessings, mommapbs |

45 | why were they sent out in pairs to teach | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 199417
Welcome to the Forum Foxy - You asked, "Why did Jesus send His disciples in pairs?" Here are some scripture references that might shed light on a possible answer. Paul reminds us of God's instruction: EVERY FACT IS TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES. 2 Cor. 13:1 This is from Dt 17:6 "On the evidence of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness." (Who might be a witness against mankind? What evidence might this witness present? Who advocates for man? Who is our Witness?) Jesus reminds us: "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." Mt 18:20 "And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart." Ecc. 4:12 Jesus is the strand that justifies and unites believers. I hope this helps. Blessings, mommapbs |

46 | biblical defination of widow/orphan? | James 1:27 | Mommapbs | 199410
Hi Rubygirl - See 1 Timothy 5 for some more spcifics on widows. When I read this verse I am reminded that only Jesus is "pure", "undefiled" and "unstained by the world." I suspect that these terms (widows and orphans in their distress) are used to identify what they need most. This is expressed by what they lack - a husband and an father. These could also be used in contrast to and to emphasize who we are IN Christ - the bride and adopted children. When Christ followers submit to His work in us, we become the conduit of His love as a Bridegroom to the widow and the Everlasting Father to the orphan. Blessings, mommapbs |

49 | Perfected bodies | Rev 20:15 | Mommapbs | 198845
Cheri - another thing that struck me was the passage in Genesis after the fall of man. See Gen 3:22-24. Man, spoiled by sin, was not to live forever. . . but if anyone is IN CHRIST - he/she is a "new creature!" 2 Cor 5:17 mommapbs |

50 | Perfected bodies | Rev 20:15 | Mommapbs | 198842
Greetings Cheri - check out Rev 21:5 - God says that He is making all things new (not all new things). This comes after those whose names are not found in the book of life are thrown into the lake of fire - the second death - eternal separation from God. Also from Jesus teaching on sin in Mt 18:8 "If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire." It appears that unbeliever's bodies are "fixed." The "impaired" believer has the promised hope of restoration! I hope this helps. Blessings, mommapbs |

51 | God working for our good | Rom 8:28 | Mommapbs | 198837
Greetings Azure, Thank you for the welcome! Yes, I am recovering. I had four months of chemo and a little more than six weeks of radiation. I recently had some additional surgery but I am beginning to feel "normal" (if there is such a thing) again. I still get tired, but I am so glad to be able to think clearly - the drugs really scambled my brain for a while! God protected my body - I never had a cold or the flu the whole time I was in treatment - but I did get very sick from it! God taught me so many wonderful things I wouldn't trade this for anything. Along with God's Word, I read Tozer's "Knowing God" a couple of times during my illness - great book. I look forward to whatever God has in store for me next - what an adventure life is with Him! Blessings, mommapbs |

54 | God working for our good | Rom 8:28 | Mommapbs | 198834
Greetings Doc - thank you for your prayers and kind words. I am sorry to learn about your father. I sorrow and celebrate with you. Thank you for your posts. I'm getting ready to begin an inductive study of James and as I was reading God does not tempt, it got me to thinking that since God works everything together for good for Christ followers, then even the temptations of Satan can ultimately bring God glory. Ponder this a bit with me. Even the temptation of Christ was used according to God's purpose (for His glory and our good), to provide the perfect sacrifice; like us but without sin. Not that we should yield to temptation, (Paul addresses this well in Romans!) but if and when we do sin, repentance is a God glorifying response. This brought to mind the verse in 1 Timothy - that Satan was used by God to teach these individuals not to blaspheme. Might God allow Satan to be at work to teach/correct us today? I'm not advocating a "victim mentality" here, and I'm certainly not blaming disease or calamity on Satan - he's a light weight. We are so blessed to have God as our Sovereign! I've had quite a journey this past year. Wouldn't wish it on anyone, but I wouldn't trade it for the world - God has been SO amamzing and SO GOOD to me! I am in recovery mode - had my first hair cut last week! (I get such a kick out of strangers who remark how they like my haircut! I suspect they are thinking, "She's bold to wear her hair so short!" If only they knew how I "earned" this!) How thankful I am that my life is in God's hands. Blessings, mommapbs |

How does God use Satan to work everything together for good? I'm wondering if this verse relates? "Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme." 1 Tim 1:20 |

56 | Same supper as John 12? | Luke 10:38 | Mommapbs | 184388
Thank you for your encouragement and prayers Hank. Uncertainty is a gift from God for it causes us to depend upon Him alone. "The Kite" summarizes where I am: "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I will fall. "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I am scared." "Come fly with Me," said the Lord. "No, I don't want to." So, He pushed me and I flew. Free to soar on the winds of His faithfulness. Strenghtened by trust made secure by past trials. Connected by the bonds of His love; held safely in His Hands. Blessings to you and yours! 59 | Same supper as John 12? | Luke 10:38 | Mommapbs | 184357
Thank you jonp - here is a quote from CS Lewis on "secondary things". “Put first things first and we get second things thrown in; put second things first and we lose both first and second things.” Edwards (Revolution Within) puts this in very practical terms by suggesting that when we approach God as a “Fixer of life” with our needs as His prime agenda, our lives will fail to reflect His glory and we will fail to experience change and fulfillment in the deepest richest sense. He foes on to observe, “When we delight most in the spectacularness of God, when HIS glory becomes OUR highest agenda, we find a taste that thrills our souls PLUS a nonstop transformation in our lives along the way.” This might give some food for thought on Mary and Martha as well. Greetings - I found it interesting that in one account Mary is criticized by her sister and in the other account (John 12) she is criticized by an outsider. Both attempt to "rob" Mary. Are these the same suppers?
