41 | Why are angels offended? | 1 Cor 11:5 | JonnyRay49423 | 3054
I see no place where women can not sing during the worship services-women can not teach men-but I see nothing wrong for women to teach younger children-the elders of the church should teach the oldier children (ages 13 on up). Angels come to know God by His works-the greatest work is the Church-the Work of Salvation-by the work of redemption God is revealing Himself to the elect angels-they see His divine attributes displayed in the salvation of the elect (Ephesians 3:10 "to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places") Are angels offened when women have their heads uncovered during the worship services?-1 Cor.11:10 "For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels" we must realize that in our worship services not only is God present but angels-therefore women should not act in a way that would disrupt the order of worship-offend God or His angels-they must remain in their submissive role-we must first interpret these verses in their context which remains for us unknown-I recommend one read modern commentaries on First Corinthians like Thiselton's commentary on First Corinthians or Raymond F. Collins commentary on First Corinthians. I do not think one should from these verses force women to wear hats during church services. |

42 | Why was Christ baptized? | NT general Archive 1 | JonnyRay49423 | 3036
One will notice that at the baptism of Jesus the Holy Spirit came upon Him-one has written "However, it is interesting to note John's record of John the Baptist's testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him" (John 1:32). Leon Morris sees this as indicating that "the whole of Jesus' ministry is accomplished in the power of the Spirit." . . . The descent of the Spirit upon Jesus at His baptism was His inauguration into His messianic task rather than His inauguration into the messianic age. . . The baptism is itself the crucial turning point in which the Spirit leads Jesus from obscurity to prominence"
43 | Is church attendance important? | NT general Archive 1 | JonnyRay49423 | 3033
I do think church attendance is important because as Christians were are all members of the Body of Christ-as Christians we are a part of the new people of God-we should not live out our spiritual lives in isolation-we need to belong to somekind of Christian fellowship-at the same time I do not think one will not go to heaven if he does not attend church-but he or she should seek out fellowship with other Christians-we need each other spiritually. We do need to sit under the preaching of the Bible-the sacraments-the gifts of other Christians-also the visible church is to be a light to the lost world-we need to support the visible church as it takes the gospel to sinners-missions-local community outreach-etc. . . We suffer spiritually if we neglect fellowshipping with other Christians.
44 | How did the criteria for the NT develop? | NT general Archive 1 | JonnyRay49423 | 3030
I recommend these two books-"Making Of The New Testament-Origin, Collection, Text, and Canon" by Arthur G. Patzia and "The Journey from Texts to Translations-The Origin and Development of the Bible" by Paul D. Wegner
45 | History of eternal suffering doctrine? | Matt 10:28 | JonnyRay49423 | 3027
I recommend the book "The Doctrine Of Endless Punishment" by W.G.T. Shedd for a history of the doctrine of endless punishment.
46 | Women and hair | 1 Cor 11:5 | JonnyRay49423 | 3026
The Bible clearly teaches women are not to preach or teach in the local church. One might believe that it is ok for women to be teaching elders, but the Bible teaches women are to keep silent during the worship services. "Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence" 1 Tim.2:11,12 |

47 | joshua set twelve stones | Josh 4:9 | JonnyRay49423 | 3025
The twelve stones were meant to provide occasions for teaching, for impressing upon the next generation Yahweh's mighty act at the Jordan. We can almost see it now. Fifteen years post-Jordan time an Israelite father and his six year-old son are strolling through Gilgal National Park. The lad spots an imposing pile of stones. He counts twelve, and exclaims, "Hey, Daddy, what are those stones for?" The son's curiosity now becomes the occasion for communicating to him the news of Israel's astounding God and how he unleased his power for his people.
48 | When God himself has selected Moses to f | Ex 4:24 | JonnyRay49423 | 3024
Moses had not place on his son the sign of the covenant "circumcision" (Josh.5:2-9)
49 | what color will we all be heaven | 1 Cor 15:51 | JonnyRay49423 | 2648
The Bible is silent on what color we will be in the eternal state.
50 | I need clarification please | 1 Corinthians | JonnyRay49423 | 2597
God ways are not our ways-His ways are past finding out-we must submit to the teachings of Scripture even if we are left with questions-we can not deny the absolute sovereignty of God nor human responsibility-all mankind sinners are called to repent and believe-men go to hell not by the bare decree of God (election and reprobation) but their rejection of God-their sins. We must rest in the knowledge that all that God does is good and for His glory. |

51 | Ok...I got you now. | 1 Corinthians | JonnyRay49423 | 2596
The "second death" is eternal death. The "first death" (Gen.2:17) occured in the Garden of Eden when Adam ate the forbidden fruit-Rom.5:12 "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned" When we hear the gospel call to repent and believe we should obey and not wait-we have no assurance God will give us a second chance-we must not fall into the sin of presumption. As faith is a gift of God, so is true repentance. We can not repent in our own strength but must be given the ability to forsake/turn from our sins with godly sorrow by the activity of God the Holy Spirit. When we disobey the gospel call we grieve/quench the Holy Spirit. "Today, if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion" Heb.3:15 |

52 | So are you saying | Josh 19:40 | JonnyRay49423 | 2594
I know there are Christians out there who want to interpret the The Revelation of Jesus Christ literally-so when we come to Rev.7 this must be a real picture of the OT tribes of Israel in heaven with the tribe of Dan missing-to me this interpretation would not make sense-what we find in Revelation are visions. I do believe in the doctrine of eternal punishment-it is a literal lake of fire? That I do not know? I do not see a literal thousand reign of Christ on the earth taught in the Bible. I do not see the mark of the beast to be something visible to the naked eye. Once again what we have here are two different approaches to how one interprets Scripture. |

53 | Cessationist contrivances? | 1 Cor 14:39 | JonnyRay49423 | 2557
We must recognize that when First Corinthians was written that the apostles were still alive and there was only the OT scriptures. In the early days of the NT church there was prophesy-but I do not believe it was special revelation-if you do a study of the word prophesy it could mean a powerful word from God like an exhortation or rebuke-prophesy in the NT was not divine revelation-we must hold to a close canon. Prophecy can also mean the preaching of the Bible-expounding the Scriptures. |

54 | Using magic in church, is it sorcery? | Acts 19:19 | JonnyRay49423 | 2556
We should not practice magic in church. The Bible condemns the use of magic. Magic is always associated in the Bible with the devil.
55 | is there a specific scripture? | Matthew | JonnyRay49423 | 2543
I see no where in Scripture where we are told how the angels were created. In Genesis 2 we are told how God created Adam and Eve (2:7). The Bible is silent on God's dealing with the angels. The focus of the Bible is God's dealing with men and women-mankind sinners. The Bible does not tell us much about the angels, but we do know much about man. The only Scripture that comes to my mind on the difference between men and angels is Hebrews 2:1-18-in these verses we are told that God created man/Adam "a little while lower than the angels"-Adam was called to be the crown of creation-we know the story of the Adamic Fall-as we read Redemptive History the Son of God came-became flesh-the Lord Jesus Christ the Second Adam (Romans 5)-Jesus Christ as the Second Adam "because of the suffering death crowned with glory and honor" Hebrews 2:9 Christ's by His Cross Death was given all authority on earth and heaven-He has restored man once again as sovereign over the created order-notice not angels-in the eternal state angels will be servants to redeemed glorified humanity (Hebrews 1:6,7). It seems from Scripture that due to the work of Christ the Elect are higher than the elect angels (Hebrews 1:14)
56 | Paul, "Attain to the resurrection"? | Philippians | JonnyRay49423 | 2541
When Paul, with reference to this out-resurrection out of the dead writes "If only I may attain," he is not expressing distrust in the power or love of God nor doubt as to his own salvation. Paul often rejoices in assurance of salvation (Rom.6:5,8;7:25;8:16,17, 35-39). In this assurance he was strengthened as the years went by (1 Tim.1:15-17). But he wrote it in the spirit of deep humility and commendable distrust in self. The words also imply earnest striving.
57 | Why eat no fat? Leviticus | Leviticus | JonnyRay49423 | 2539
We are told why blood is taboo, because atonement is made through it (Lev.17:11). The reason for the prohibition of eating fat remains obscure. Calvin may well be right in thinking that fat in the OT can be synonymous with "the best" (Gen.45:18; Ps.81:17[Eng.16]). By giving the fat the worshipper was giving the best of the animal; and insofar as the animal was thought to represent the man, the worshipper showed he was giving God the best part of his life.
58 | Where is Dan? | Josh 19:40 | JonnyRay49423 | 2536
We are not to take Rev.7 literally. What we have described in Rev.7 is a spiritual picture of the redeemed Church. In Rev.8 we have the seventh seal broken pointing to the final judgement. God seals the 144,000 meaning the elect will be spared the Day of Judgement. Dan is not listed because the purpose of the chapter is not to set forth the twelve tribes of Israel as set forth in the OT. The writer of Rev. is giving us a heavenly picture of the Church.
59 | what is the best inter. of the bible | Bible general Archive 1 | JonnyRay49423 | 2512
I recommend the Reformation Study Bible (New King James Version)-if you do not want a good study Bible then just get a plain New King James Version-I find this version very readable.
60 | Who did God speak to? | John 1:18 | JonnyRay49423 | 2508
In the Bible we have no place where God the Father has spoken to any individual. God has always spoken or revealed Himself through the mediation of the Son of God the Lord Jesus Christ.
