42 | Are you equating yourself to God? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126138
Hi, Minor! I thought that could be another possibility... my question was due to the various posts that are found (on this forum and elsewhere) with all sorts of innuendoes from using lower case "g" or "j" when referring to God or Jesus to anti-Christian tags... When reading your question and noticing your tag I felt the need to check! God Bless! Angel PS: I'm not a theologian/historian so I cannot respond to your question. |

43 | Why ask Why? Why ask Where? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126388
Hi, kalos! Technically you are correct! But from the perspective of the Pharisees, though they twisted the Mosaic Law to construct their idologies, they were following the text of the Law... Both Pharisees and Sadducees maintained that they were true worshippers. Their assault on Christ was supported by their belief that they and not Jesus were adhering to the Law! Only after Jesus reprimanded them and confronted them with the Truth did they retreat from the scene--yet, even then they refused to give up their ideologies as they were convinced that they held the deposit of the Law and that they were authorized by God to dispense the Law, as twisted as they had made it! In reality, the religious elite transgressed God's commandments but they were blind to the truth and were confident that they were the last word on the Word! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Ancient! The problem is that apples, of all shapes and sizes, abound in the world... This specific fruit--which was made inaccessible after the transgression--would have no relevance to apples! God Bless! Angel |

46 | Things people THINK in the BIBLE but not | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 126735
"When she tasted the fruit, being supposed as something sexual according to this hypothesis," Hi, Ancient! Notice how limiting this definition of "knowledge of good and evil" is? There was so much more going on (as it is today) even before the sexual issue: Eve rejected the Creator's Word over the creature's lies. Eve assimilated the creature's promise of power: being equal to God was the incentive to disobey God's Command (there was no incentive to sexual awareness or gratification). Adam did not run to Eve because she entised him with sexual/amorous offerings--he simply accepted her offer and ate. It was at this time that they both became aware of their sexuality! Both Adam and Eve covered themselves up even before hiding from God! There's doesn't seem to be any real time lapse between the moment of their awareness and their decision to cover up. Adam confesses not that he has disobeyed God's Command, but that he is naked and hid from God's eyes. As quickly as he is discovered, Adam shifts the blame onto the woman. As soon as Eve is exposed she, in turn, focuses the blame on the snake! Adam and Eve's new found "knowledge" was not simply of sexual awareness and activity! To think that the tree of "Knowledge of good and evil" was something merely phisical is simplistic... but so it is to consider that "knowledge of good and evil" is about sexual consciousness! God Bless! Angel |

Hi, EdB! I understand your position... I just thought that they may go back to the question (as sometimes these types hang about for hours) and they might realize that they should attempt to be more comprehensive--this without perceiving a direct attack! God Bless! Angel |

49 | Studying beyond reading | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 131984
Hi, Jo! I did not mean to exclude you from this forum... I simply offered info on a forum that is for and by young Christians... I am glad that you found a group to study with... I welcome all Bible related questions or comments that deal with Christ (some people want to argue philosophy and religion, I stay away from arguments that are unproductive to my relationship with Christ). "How do I study deeply? How do I get past simply reading the Bible." I suggest that you start with the Gospel of John... do not try to read through the text (chapt 1 - 21)... take as much time as you need to study each individual chapter/theme (i.e.: John 1:1-14), using a Bible with a built-in concordance or a Bible concordance to compare Scripture from various sources... Start and end each study session with a prayer asking the Holy Spirit for guidance and thanking God for any enlightenment gained from each session. Use your study group to bounce your personal Bible studies (offer your questions, comments, challanges...)... Bounce your conclusions/queries on this or other Bible forums... Avail yourself of local sources such as your local Church, Bible ministry, parents, siblings, grandparents... always challange your knowledge of Christ by opening dialoges with those that God will send to you! Most importantly, be a doer of the Word! It is a good thing to discover the mysteries of God; it is a better thing to put them into practice in our daily lives! God Bless! Angel |

50 | Please explain the big words! | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 132409
Hi, GeneZ! I understand what you are saying... I was simply offering Jo (Winged1) an alternative... many times I travel around the net and I find it faster to query an automated source than to await for a reply... I can see the benefit you expressed since I have read through some of the exchanges dealing with vocabulary and usage... God Bless! Angel |

52 | Lockman and NASB representation? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 135667
Hi, Reighn! ...let me take a stab at this: Moderator(s): No! Abuse of Forum's Guidelines permitted: No! Can any member restrict a thread?: No! Can any member report abuse? Yes! Does Lockman remove posts? No! Does Lockman restrict posts? Yes! Does Lockman monitors or selectively deletes or restricts posts? No! Do people confuse this forum for an all out, all permisive forum? Yes! Do they miss the point of the forum? Yes! Could they post somewhere else? Yes! This forum is ours to use not to abuse! When a member finds a questionable post he/she has not only the right but also the obligation to report it! I've noticed that a thread to which you posted was restricted... you can check the various contributions that were made... perhaps one or more of the replies (which could even include the original post that started the thread) did break the forum's rules... I truly hope that this has help! God Bless! Angel |

55 | How literal is the Bible? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 135776
Hi, Reighn! I do not think that the matter is settled by you opting to exile yourself from the question queue... I do agree with Hank that you (and other members) post lengthy questions that seem to be more of a statement of faith than a query... still, there are the sequence questioners who do not seem to breath deeply enough to allow another person to post... ...my friend, we all fall short of God's Holiness... we all err in one way or another... I just don't think that removing yourself from partial participation is the correct thing to do! ...as Colin suggested, I too suggest to you to rethink your appoach, summarize your queries, and allow the Holy Spirit to Shine! God Bless! Angel |

56 | How literal is the Bible? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 135778
Hi, Hank! Thanks for your informative reply! I too have come accross people who preach anything they want and call it Scripture... sadly, they have been destined to destruction and though they read Scripture that warns them about the imminent peril (2 Peter 2:12-22; 3:3-7; 1 John 2:18-19; Jude 1:10-13)... It is our responsibility to pray for their reform as well as for those who they are leading astray... they are blind guides leading the blind into perdition! God Bless! Angel |

57 | How literal is the Bible? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 135808
Hi, Reighn! I think that you are missing my point... I was attempting to convey to you that we all make mistakes... that threads are restricted... that we all have the same right to post questions as the next person... my suggestion to you was to not exile yourself from a part of the forum--I suggest that you summarize your questions and that you refine the content of your questions... I have no authority on this or any other forum, yet as a regular user I feel obligated to interact with all other users... offering both my support and observations... There has never been a single post where I have attempted to pull ranks or any other form of tenure on anyone... other than closing (exiting) my own thread (a thread on which I have engaged others) I have displayed no authority... I offer you my apologies if you have perceived any overt or covert authoritative remarks on my posts! Again, my intent was to urge you to continue posting your questions; not to censure or restrict you! God Bless! Angel |

58 | Lockman and NASB representation? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 135901
Hi, Reighn! They say that it is better late than never... here it is!: for it is not eating and drinking that make the kingdom of God, but saving justice, the peace and the joy brought by the Holy Spirit. It is the person who serves Christ in these things that will be approved by God and respected by everyone. So then, let us be always seeking the ways which lead to peace and the ways in which we can support one another. (Romans 14:17-19) God Bless! Angel |

59 | What are Jesus' grandchildrens names? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 136527
Hi, Emmaus! Excellent post! Too many people read Scripture and find values where there are none, symbolism where there's none, and they even fail to see the Truth when it is staring right at them! In North America you seldom hear the name Jesus as being popular but in Latin America it is almost as popular as Mary... it was the same then, some names as Mary and Simon were very very popular, others as Joshua (Jesus) were not as popular but were still current! God Bless! Angel |

60 | Rapper turned pastor and now t'd rapper | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 136658
Hi, Gab! Your testimony is strong and uplifting! Jesus warned the disciples that the world would hate them on account of Him (John 15:18-20)--since the world did not receive Jesus, all of Jesus' disciples would receive the same treatment... yet, there were those who listened and believe and through the disciples there are those who listen and believe! I understood from your testimony that Satan blinded you for a while... that while you knew that Jesus was the answer, you still wanted to hold on to the old Gab (the popular guy with the "friends" and the "girls" and the "parties!")... it was when you committed to Christ that you realized how wrong you were... you realized that He would vomit you out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16)... you realized that you were doing a disservice to both the Lord and His Body and to yourself! Your commitment to stick it out is what Jesus refers to as those who "stand" or "overcome..." those who are His true disciples! The worst lot for a Christian to preach to or evangelize are his/her previous "friends..." these are the people who, with the now Believer, enjoyed rejecting Christ and reveling in all the unrightous acts with witch they defiled themselves and God! The strongest evangelization that we can do is STAY THE COURSE! We can convict more of our past "friends" by maintaining our devotion and commitment to the Lord than all the preaching and sharing of Scripture with them... of course, as we continue our life in the Lord, they will become convicted of their own failures and through our gentle ministering to them the Holy Spirit may be able to awaken in them the Truth: Jesus is the Resurrection and Life! As far as the pastor... you cannot be responsible for him! You cannot account for his actions any more than I can... those who come to you protesting of hypocracy on the part of Christians you will do well in reminding them that it is the man who fails not Christ! It is our stubbornness that keeps us from submitting to our wills to God! And it is our doublemindedness that causes us to walk in the Lord for a time, only to reject Him when our whim is not satisfied! Remind them also that not all are able to lead and instruct in the Lord... that a servant of Christ is not subject to only one station in the Lord... many are called to be healers, listeners, laborers, preachers, and yes, even wonderers... Remind them that being Christian is a life-time commitment and that many who begin their life in the Lord are as confused and as frightened as when they only knew the things of the world! I will be praying for you and for this ex-servant of Christ! God Bless! Angel |
