42 | Do we have to have only one pastor, one | Acts 2:42 | Bereaniam | 174931
Thanks Steve, this did indeed help. My problem is that I cannot find a local church that lines up with what I read in the bible. I have been part of a local congregation for the past 13 years. It has so strayed away from bible doctrine lately...teaching traditions of men, its all about the "building", prosperity, glitz, glamour, no altar calls, teaching from books, Wednesday nights -cooking classes, make-up lessons, etc. My pastor has become "successful"became a "Bishop" recently, owns a ranch, horses, cattle, all of his children are on the payroll of the church, along with his sister, his son's father-in-law, his mother, his father-in-law and mother-in-law. He believes and hits us frequently with we are robbing God or cursed with a curse if we don't tithe. I have been searching for another place to assemble with other believers, but pretty much have found that they are all the same. My spiritual gift is that of a servant. I use this gift to minister to the poor in my community. There are Christians in my community who are not part of "my" local assemble.I edify (build up) people on my job, in my neighborhood, etc. One other thing I observe among many "church-goers"-they go on Sundays, they leave, and probably never see those they assemble with until the next Sunday. When they do "fellowship" it's all about non-spiritual things. I know someone might say I do not want to be under authority...that's not it. I had no problem with that until my pastor started to change a few years ago. I am grieved at what I see going on with the church as a whole. It seems we have lost our first love and became "lukewarm." No one wants to go to prayer meetings. No one wants to have Sunday night meetings. Pastors want to be Drs., bishops, prophets, etc. Pastors want airplanes, helicopters, million dollar homes, 1200 suits, etc. We look more like the world than they do. Where is the church? Where is "The Church"? Bereaniam |

43 | Preachers with titles wrong? | NT general Archive 1 | Bereaniam | 174022
Yes, Justme, it is a hard decision. I will miss many of my brothers and sisters with whom I fellowship. I also work with the children's ministry, and I will sorely miss the children. I have thought about visiting other fellowships, but I know there are no "perfect gatherings". I guess I am just seeking a confirmation. Thanks. His, Bereaniam |

Thanks John..that is an excellent explanation. Bereaniam |

45 | Can know Jesus then lose salvation? | Matt 13:20 | Bereaniam | 173779
Thanks Doc, That was the line of thinking that I had. I honestly believe that many will say "Lord, Lord", without truly having known Jesus as Lord and Savior. As has been said many times, one can know OF someone, without really knowing someone. Bereaniam |

48 | Melchisedec restored tithing | Rom 4:3 | Bereaniam | 171845
Thanks BradK, He used Heb 7:12 as his proof text, which states that the priesthood had changed , therefore a necessity to change the law. This very scripture is one that I use to refute that tithing is under this present grace period. This preacher said the law changed but was not abolished. His sermon was very confusing (he was a guest preacher at our church). If Heb 7:12 says that tithing was restored...I don't see where he thought it ever ceased from the Mosaic Law. Bereaniam |

50 | Church staff's salary questionable | 1 Tim 3:7 | Bereaniam | 171435
Greetings Justme, I know it has been a while, but I did check with the IRS and I was told that churches do not have to disclose their budget or financial records. Thanks anyway, Bereaniam |

51 | Divine Healing, True or False? | Matthew | Bereaniam | 170761
Greetings, Paul said he was our example, our pattern to follow (of course, as he followed Christ). Paul, Peter, James, John, and other authors of the New Covenant wrote nearly 50, 60, or 70 years after the ressurection of our Lord. Surely this was enough time for believers to live like Prince and Princesses. What example do these men, who walked with Jesus and/or was given the inspired Word to write, show us to live the affluent life? Paul said he was thirsty, hungry, naked, with no certain dwelling place; Paul also refuse money, except to give it to other churches, so he would not hinder the gospel. Show me scripture where we are to prosper except spiritually. Bereaniam |

52 | Was Jesus ever separated from God? | Ps 139:1 | Bereaniam | 170454
Thanks Justme...what you said is really what I believe..but so many people have been taught and believe that Jesus became sin and God forsook Him. Where can we flee His Spirit? And again, if He became sin, He would not be the spotless Lamb needed for the sacrifice. Thanks for the confirmation of what I already believed. Bereaniam |

53 | Commentator wrong about Luke, Theophilus | Luke | Bereaniam | 169983
Wow! WOS, I knew I would get some feedback...but your note greatly exceeds my expectations. It certainly "opens my eyes of understanding" beyond what I could ask or think. Not only was I impressed by the content of your note, but also your literary style of writing, and careful attention to details. Thanks also for the website for further study. Bereaniam |

Thanks Justme for this info...I did not know you could obtain a church's financial records. Do you know if you have to be a member in order to do that? This is a "nondenominational church". In Him and He in me, Bereaniam |

59 | Paul our pattern to follow, not Jesus? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Bereaniam | 169740
Well,Brother Kalos...that's part of what I mean by comingling the old and new covenant. There are many other examples of how we obey the "Law" given to Moses for the Jews and at the same time obey the "Grace Message" given to Paul for the Gentiles (us). In Him and He in me, Bereaniam |

60 | Paul our pattern to follow, not Jesus? | Luke 24:46 | Bereaniam | 169738
Thanks Kalos...I have gleaned much from you too. p.s. Noticed you referred to me as "Brother". I am your "Sister" in the Lord, not "Brother". Just curious, why did you assume I was male? Bereaniam |
