44 | Why did god choose Israel as his people? | Gen 22:18 | jlpangilinan | 131564
As God He knew that what He has done choosing israel as His people is the perfect thing to do because He is God. De 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. Also, it maybe because of the faithful heart of Abraham. Ge 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Ge 22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: Ge 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; God sworn to abraham, to bless the seed of Abraham, it so happen that the seed of abraham was Isaac, and Jacob as son of Isaac which was called ISRAEL. Ge 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Again, it just so happened that the descendants of abraham are not Chinese, American, Russian, but Israelites. God bless, |

45 | y is it harder for a rich man to enter.. | Luke 13:24 | jlpangilinan | 130839
It was taught "eye of a neddle" mentiond is the gate for the camel, it is a hole in the wale sperated from the gate which people enter. Christ always gave parables based on what people can see around them. It is impossible to the camel to pass that gate "eye of a neddle" if the baggages is still with the camel. But if someone removed that baggages from the camel, the camel can pass that gate "eye of a neddle" because it is really designed for the Camel. That is the parable based. A rich person is like a camel with a lot of baggages attached to him passing that gate "eye of a neddle" if the rich person will not removed that baggage (priorities his wealth instead of God) Mt. 19:21-22. it is impossible to him to pass. If the parable is based on a phisical neddle which is very small, it is almost we are saying that there is no rich man can enter the Kingdom of God. Mt 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. Mt 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Dont worry my friend, it is really impossible to a camel to pass that eye of a neddle, maybe it is more difficult to the rich man to enter. But is God will do that not us. If God want anyone to enter in a neddle eye, He can do it. Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. That things would be very difficult for us, not for our God. God bless, |

46 | who were the Sadducces and Parisees | Bible general Archive 2 | jlpangilinan | 127807
Here are information about them, you can find it your self in the scriptures following the quoted chapters and verses. EASTON BIBLE DICTIONARY ENTRY ON: Sadducees The origin of this Jewish sect cannot definitely be traced. It was probably the outcome of the influence of Grecian customs and philosophy during the period of Greek domination. The first time they are met with is in connection with John the Baptist's ministry. They came out to him when on the banks of the Jordan, and he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?" (Mt 3:7.) The next time they are spoken of they are represented as coming to our Lord tempting him. He calls them "hypocrites" and "a wicked and adulterous generation" (Mt 16:1-4; 22:23). The only reference to them in the Gospels of Mark (Mr 12:18-27) and Luke (Lu 20:27-38) is their attempting to ridicule the doctrine of the resurrection, which they denied, as they also denied the existence of angels. They are never mentioned in John's Gospel. There were many Sadducees among the "elders" of the Sanhedrin. They seem, indeed, to have been as numerous as the Pharisees (Ac 23:6). They showed their hatred of Jesus in taking part in his condemnation (Mt 16:21; 26:1-3,59; Mr 8:31; 15:1; Lu 9:22; 22:66). They endeavoured to prohibit the apostles from preaching the resurrection of Christ (Ac 2:24,31-32; 4:1-2; 5:17,24-28). They were the deists or sceptics of that age. They do not appear as a separate sect after the destruction of Jerusalem. EASTON BIBLE DICTIONARY ENTRY ON: Pharisees separatists (Heb persahin, from parash, "to separate"). They were probably the successors of the Assideans (i.e., the "pious"), a party that originated in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes in revolt against his heathenizing policy. The first mention of them is in a description by Josephus of the three sects or schools into which the Jews were divided (B.C. 145). The other two sects were the Essenes and the Sadducees. In the time of our Lord they were the popular party (Joh 7:48). They were extremely accurate and minute in all matters appertaining to the law of Moses (Mt 9:14; 23:15; Lu 11:39; 18:12). Paul, when brought before the council of Jerusalem, professed himself a Pharisee (Ac 23:6-8; 26:4-5). There was much that was sound in their creed, yet their system of religion was a form and nothing more. Theirs was a very lax morality (Mt 5:20; 15:4,8; 23:3,14,23,25; Joh 8:7). On the first notice of them in the New Testament (Mt 3:7), they are ranked by our Lord with the Sadducees as a "generation of vipers." They were noted for their self-righteousness and their pride (Mt 9:11; Lu 7:39; 18:11-12). They were frequently rebuked by our Lord (Mt 12:39; 16:1-4). From the very beginning of his ministry the Pharisees showed themselves bitter and persistent enemies of our Lord. They could not bear his doctrines, and they sought by every means to destroy his influence among the people. God bless, |

47 | who was the Sanhedrin | NT general Archive 1 | jlpangilinan | 127802
In addition to information you received. EASTON BIBLE DICTIONARY ENTRY ON: Sanhedrim more correctly Sanhedrin (Gr. synedrion), meaning "a sitting together," or a "council." This word (rendered "council," A.V.) is frequently used in the New Testament (Mt 5:22; 26:59; Mr 15:1, etc.) to denote the supreme judicial and administrative council of the Jews, which, it is said, was first instituted by Moses, and was composed of seventy men (Nu 11:16-17). But that seems to have been only a temporary arrangement which Moses made. This council is with greater probability supposed to have originated among the Jews when they were under the domination of the Syrian kings in the time of the Maccabees. The name is first employed by the Jewish historian Josephus. This "council" is referred to simply as the "chief priests and elders of the people" (Mt 26:3,47,57,59; 27:1,3,12,20, etc.), before whom Christ was tried on the charge of claiming to be the Messiah. Peter and John were also brought before it for promulgating heresy (Ac 4:1-23; 5:17-41); as was also Stephen on a charge of blasphemy (Ac 6:12-15), and Paul for violating a temple by-law (Ac 22:30; 23:1-10). The Sanhedrin is said to have consisted of seventy-one members, the high priest being president. They were of three classes (1) the chief priests, or heads of the twenty-four priestly courses (1Ch 24:1-31), (2) the scribes, and (3) the elders. As the highest court of judicature, "in all causes and over all persons, ecclesiastical and civil, supreme," its decrees were binding, not only on the Jews in Palestine, but on all Jews wherever scattered abroad. Its jurisdiction was greatly curtailed by Herod, and afterwards by the Romans. Its usual place of meeting was within the precincts of the temple, in the hall "Gazith," but it sometimes met also in the house of the high priest (Mt 26:3), who was assisted by two vice-presidents. 51 | What does God say on birth control? | Gen 1:28 | jlpangilinan | 126187
The Bible silent in Birth control Ge 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Ge 9:1 ¶ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. Those two verses always came out if somebody will discuss birth control. But as you can see they given to Adam and eve, Noah and his sons. In the time of adam, they were only two human being in earth the time. That commandments are very applicable to them, the same in the time of noah, they are only 8 souls survive the flood, again the commandments are very applicable and specific only for them. How can we make sure that those verse is only for them? There are commandments in the Bible that given in general, there are also commandments that given specifically. For example when God give commandments to Noah to build the ark it is very sure that commandments is not for us.The same with the commandments of "multiply" If we consider that all commandments in the Bible are given in general, we also must build ark for example. Birth control are the problem the our country has, (Philippines) we have many countrymen live below poberty lines. hundred thousand if not Million live in smokey mountain (garbage mountain) but then the survey results that most families live there has at least 7 or eight children. When our garbage mountain collaps because of the rain, hundreds died. Do we think, "multiply still applicable today? NO. If have children but you cannot provide them the things they need, you sin against the Lord. 2Co 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. 52 | j. witnesses do not give blood. counter | Matt 12:1 | jlpangilinan | 126157
The scriptures silent on blood transfusion, the teaching about blood in acts 15 are we dont eat blood, this commandments are repeatedly mentioned in OT. About blood transfusions, we are not eating the blood to make our self full or because we we are hungry, it is help savings life. We can cure someone by giving our blood. It is the same we donating parts of the body, eyes. kidney or heart because we want to help. Sacrificial I must say. Ro 16:3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: Ro 16:4 Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. It that passages above, paul mentioned names of those people who sacrifice for his safety those are sacrifice. Donating blood sometimes is sacrifice. Here in the Philippines, dengue fever is one of the most dangerous virus, especially children and elderly person. This kind of sickness is very painful, make the nose of the patient bleed, lips crack, intestines bleed and eventually will destroy the cell of patient brain and of coure die! Until now there is no vaccine that can cure that viruses, the only solution we have right now is blood transfusion no other cure yet. For if someone in your family will have this virus, then the doctor told you that the only cure is blood tansfusion, do you think you just ignore it and watch your family member die in very painful way? Again the scriptures is silent about blood tansfusions bur scriptures ok in sacrifce, help savings someone lives. God bless, |

53 | Is Solomon in heaven or hell? | Prov 1:1 | jlpangilinan | 126048
If we read the passages from the books of kings we may concluded that solomon could be go to hell after judgement. 1Ki 11:3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. 1Ki 11:4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father. 1Ki 11:5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. 1Ki 11:6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father. 1Ki 11:7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. 1Ki 11:8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods. But if you aske me if solomon is now in heaven, NO hes not there! Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. "no man hath ascended up to heaven" including solomon. God bless, |

55 | birth control use | Gen 38:10 | jlpangilinan | 125953
There is no clear statement from the Bible about birth control. Me and my wife, practicing what we call normal birth conrol (not using any medicine, contraceptives, etc) we have one child, a daughter. We do this to make sure that we can support our daughter to feed her good, and send her in good school to have good education. I think there is not wrong about the intentions. Philippines are over populated, 4.5 million jobless, the survey says most of those jobless are live in squatter area, survey also said that those jobless are the most have many children, averaging 8 or 9 child per household. Imagine having 10 children without permanent income? 2Co 12:14 Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. 56 | Tithing fact or fiction | 2 Cor 9:7 | jlpangilinan | 125948
If the tithe he is talkig about is 10 percent of the income, it is not applicapble today. 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. If you give a certain amount to any members, it is means that you required them under the law. Giving under the Christ teaching is love offering, the amount that purpose of your heart. Tithe is under the law of moses, law as apostle paul said will not justify us. Ac 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Why keep doing the things that will not justify us? Aside from that, we are commanded not to fufill only part of the law, but all of the law. If someone taught us to observe part of the law, you must observe all of it, otherwise Christ will call us hypocrytes. Mt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. If you observe the law of the tithes, you must observe other matters on it such as stone to death your brother and sisters if you found them going out in sabbath day, stone to death those committed aldultery, you must not eat the food that prohibited by the law etc. etc. Christ fulfill the law different ways, we must always be reminded about that. Giving is good, if you can give half, full, or everything you have, it is acceptable to God. But NO amount required. God bless, |

58 | Once saved, always saved? | Matt 27:5 | jlpangilinan | 125546
You are welcome. I found different views, and answer to your question. That is the beauty of the forum. I would like to quote some part of your statement. Quote "So once someone has repented, asked God to forgive them and asked God into their heart they are bound to heaven regardless of their relationship with Him or how they live their life."end of quote. We are created to HIS good works, and we should walk in them: Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. relationship with God is NOT what you said "regardless" there are requirements of being save! Mt 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. It is unbelievable that a saved person after receiving Christ as his saviour will do suicide, or other crimes which is prohibited in the Bible. Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, If we sin wifully after that we "received the knowledge of the truth" you see it is not permitted that after asking forgiveness you are forgiven past, present, future sins. There is always, a guidelines. Now, maybe you would ask, "once save is always save" is not true?. My view on this is the example of the life of Paul, before he knew Christ he is a different person forsake followers of Christ hanged them stone them to death. But once he knew and receive Christ, he became a new person, and dont go back do the things he done before. Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. A save person live not himself but it is Christr lives in Him, If Christ lives in you, it is impossible to do killing, suicide and whatsoever wrongdoings you can think of, otherwise what Christ it that lives in you. If we think we are save, but then still do the things we done before, we are not save, we are just like dogs that return in his vomit! A dog returneth to his vomit, NOT a save person. Pr 26:11 ¶ As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. God bless, |

59 | How does BC correspond to Bible times. | Matt 3:3 | jlpangilinan | 125465
As we all know, B.C. means before Christ, for example the book of ISAIAH it was mentioned there the reign of the King and uzzia's death which is (B.C. 762) meaning uzzia died 762 year before Christ was born it is an opposit how we count years in our time for example we are now in 2004, two thousand and four years after Jesus Christ born. A.D. means anno domini in english Year of Our Lord. I hope it would helps. God bless, Isaiah, The Book of consists of prophecies delivered (ISA 1) in the reign of Uzziah (1-5), (2) of Jotham (6), (3) Ahaz (7-14:28), (4) the first half of Hezekiah's reign (14:28-35), (5) the second half of Hezekiah's reign (36-66). Thus, counting from the fourth year before Uzziah's death (B.C. 762) to the last year of Hezekiah (B.C. 698), Isaiah's ministry extended over a period of sixty-four years. He may, however, have survived Hezekiah, and may have perished in the way indicated above. |

60 | Bible's view on suicide? | Matt 27:5 | jlpangilinan | 125419
The account about suicide I could think of is Judas. Mt 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. If we can see he committed suicide because of guilt, not remembering what Jesus Christ taught. If judas only remember that Christ can still forgive Him on His sin, he maybe asking it instead of hang himself. Lu 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots Christian as a son of God, is not fearful, we are strong remembering that we are sons of God. Committing suicide sometimes is a result of lack of faith, fearful, and guilt. Re 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Christ also taught us to love our nighbor as we love our self, meaning we have to love our self, remembering that it is a temple of Christ. Mr 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Lastly, God commanded us not to kill: Thou shall not kill. suicide is killing. Christ said, those who can enter the Kingdom of heaven, are those who do the will of the Father. I am sure suicide is not a part of that WILL. Mt 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. |
