42 | Are there evil spirits and what are they | Rev 16:14 | Ocelot | 167870
Hello B. Santiago, welcome to the forum. Evil spirits, or demons or devils as they’re sometimes called are fallen angels who were once good. But they joined Satan in his rebellion against God. The Bible makes it plain that they are very real. See Revelation 16:14 Ocelot |

43 | What is Babylon called now? | Jer 50:1 | Ocelot | 167867
Ancient Babylon is located in what is now Iraq. The ruins of that ancient city still exist today, and as Jeremiah prophesied, since it’s destruction, Babylon has not been inhabited. Ocelot |

44 | how will i be known to others in heaven? | 1 Cor 15:53 | Ocelot | 167270
Hello kfoale. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:53, 54 “For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory.” The Bible says that we will “put on the imperishable” and “immortality”. It doesn’t say that we’ll be totally different people. I believe that we will look like ourselves, only we’ll look as God originally intended us to look. All of our imperfections will be gone. We’ll still be the same people, we’ll just be perfect. Those are my thoughts. Ocelot |

46 | is there proof in scripture of that? | Bible general Archive 3 | Ocelot | 167214
Here's one verse for you. Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them…” The word for Lord here, is Y’Hova, or as we would pronounce it, Jehovah, the Self-Existent or Eternal One. It was Jehovah who created the Earth. Ocelot |

50 | where is itsatan kicked out of heaven | Rev 12:9 | Ocelot | 166680
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, Rev 12:8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. |

51 | Why so many Bibles? | Rev 22:18 | Ocelot | 166655
You bring up a very interesting and much debated topic. First of all I’d like to point out that ANY English version is not going to be an original. If you want people to read from the original then you’re going to need to learn Greek and Hebrew. Some say that we should only use King James Version while others say that it doesn’t matter. And I’m sure there are other opinions out there too. Some criticize inaccuracies in the newer versions while others say that they simply can’t understand the older versions. So what is the answer? I personally have problems with some of the things in the newer versions. But then again, it’s very hard for me to just sit down and read the King James. I’ve settled the matter for myself with a New King James version, but this might not be the answer for the next guy. So what is the answer? I have no idea. I hope that answers your question. : ) Ocelot |

52 | child made during adultry | John 3:16 | Ocelot | 166634
God is Love. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” For God so loved [The Child conceived in adultery] that He gave His only begotten Son. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Here’s a question for you. Can you choose to whom you are born? Of course not. God is a God of love. He understands us completely. To the child that was conceived in adultery I would say this; know that God loves you just as much as anyone else. He loved you so much that He would rather DIE than live without you. And He did. 53 | secular music vs christian music | Phil 4:8 | Ocelot | 166487
Here are a few verses that come to mind Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever. Ocelot |

54 | Ephs 4:30; 1:13-14 | 2 Tim 1:12 | Ocelot | 165781
Here are some verses that speak to the “Once saved always saved” doctrine 2 Pet 2:19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 2 Pet 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. Heb 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. Heb 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, Matt 24:13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 1 Cor 15:1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 1 Cor 15:2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. Rev 3:5 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. 1 Cor 9:27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. Not to dishearten anyone. But salvation CAN BE lost. Sin separates us from salvation. God’s grace reunites us with it. Does that mean that God stops loving those who fall into sin? No. God’s love and His grace are two different things. We can’t stop God from loving us. But we CAN reject His grace. With Christian Love Ocelot |

55 | How do you guys fight temptation? | James 5:16 | Ocelot | 165729
Here are some verses that come to mind. James 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you Matt 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written…” Instilling God’s word in our hearts, and especially verses that pertain to weaknesses we have in particular, can be a good way to resist temptation. Rom 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. I remember reading about a boy who came home and found his mother waiting for him at the door. She asked him “I know you went swimming even though I told you not to.” The boy replied “I was tempted to do it. I’m sorry.” The boy’s mother reached into his backpack and pulled out his swimming shorts. “Then why did you pack your swimming shorts today?” she asked The boy replied “Well I knew I was gonna be tempted so I figured I’d better be prepared.” One of the best ways to resist temptation is to avoid it altogether. Ezek 14:1 Then some elders of Israel came to me and sat down before me. Ezek 14:2 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Ezek 14:3 "Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put right before their faces the stumbling block of their iniquity. Should I be consulted by them at all? Ezekiel 14:1,3 goes along with Romans 13:14. God can’t help us if we won’t help ourselves. God may be the One to give us the strength to overcome temptation, but if we continue to unnecessarily put before our faces stumbling blocks, then should we be surprised if we fail? Matt 14:30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Finally and most importantly, and Lionheart said this already, Pray. Ocelot |

57 | why Satan appeared to Eve first? | Gen 3:1 | Ocelot | 165666
The Bible doesn’t specify why, however if I were to speculate, I’d say that Satan tempted Eve first because she was the first one to approach the Tree of the Knowledge of Good And Evil.
58 | Mark, am I missing something | Galatians | Ocelot | 165324
We are not under the Law, but under Grace. Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? Read Romans chapter 6. We are not under the PENALTY of the Law. Christ did not die on the cross so that we could murder, lie and cheat on our spouses. We can not earn salvation by keeping the law. But we certainly can lose it by willfuly breaking the law. (2 Pet. 2:20,22;1 Cor. 9:27; Jer. 18:7-11;1 Cor. 15:1,2;)Read also Matthew chapter 5:17-19. When it seems that the Bible contradicts itself, assume that you’ve misinterpreted it. The evidence in favor of the Law, and yes, even the Sabbath is massive in weight. The evidence against it is circumstantial at best. Truth is like fence posts. If we base our beliefs on one misapplied text, we can line it up to make the Bible say just about anything we want. But when we find many texts that go against our one or two texts, we should assume we’ve misinterpreted the text. Weigh the evidence. Listen to your sister. Read the word. The word is the only rule by which we should base our beliefs. We should not base them on tradition. With Christian Love Ocelot |
