41 | what does the reconciliation means? | 2 Cor 5:1 | Emmaus | 169237
Rhon In the Christian sense it primarily means the resoration of man's relationship with God through Jesus Christ and secondarily the restoration of the relationship of Christians to one another. Rom 5:11 And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Rom 11:15 For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 2 Cor 5:18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 2 Cor 5:19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation In the Catholic Christian sense it is also another name for the Sacrament of Penance or Confession. Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, Rev 12:8 and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 58 | the Spirit of Truth | John 7:17 | Emmaus | 167301
Sam, All these question come down to the question of authority and an authoritative interpreter of Scripture, because Scripture alone, though authoritative, is often interpreted very differently on important questions to the destruction of unity. For Catholics like me the answer lies in the Church, which claims authority to interpret and settled disputed interpretation of Scripture, relying on the promise of Christ to His disciples that the Holy Spirit would lead them to all truth. If you have a dispute with your brother "take it to the Church." Matt 16:18; 18:19. I am the only one on this forum to profess this, so I am simply stating my answer to your questions, without intent to start or engage in debate Emmaus |
