41 | Help me solve this apparent conflict | Luke 8:15 | Huron | 111769
How would one reconcile this verse that speaks of an honest and good heart, (similar to Acts 17:11),with the general Bible teaching that the heart is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9)?

43 | Bereans in Acts 17:10-12 | Acts 17:11 | Huron | 110617
This is a very interesting verse! Would you say that these Bereans were regnerated BEFORE they "examined the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so", or were they regenerated AFTER they believed? Regards, Huron |

44 | Acts 2:38 Repentance and Baptism? | Acts 2:38 | Huron | 110519
To the casual observer it looks like Peter is saying for us that we can be saved through repentance and baptism. This seems to fly in the face of Ephesians 2:8,9. Is it possible that Peter is really saying to repent, and then be baptized BECAUSE we have forgiveness of sins? The reason that I'm asking is because he makes no reference to baptism in Acts 3:19 where he preaches at portico of Solomon. Regards and Thanks! Huron |

45 | Peter's promise Acts 2:39 | Acts 2:39 | Huron | 110518
Is Peter saying: A) that the promise of the Holy Spirit is for us if we believe AND for our children if THEY believe? or B)that if we believe we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for us and our children with no input required on the part of the children. Regards, Huron |

46 | Water, baptism and John 3:5/Titus 3:5 | John 3:5 | Huron | 110233
Many people use this verse to substantiate water baptism along with Titus 3:5 "He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit," Although I am all for water baptism, I just don't see any connection between this verse and baptism. Am I missing something, or am I likely correct? To discuss it from another angle, I believe regeneration and baptism are two totally different topics. Seems people who use John 3:5 to validate baptism mix the two terms. Huron |

47 | Acts 16:33 and infant baptism. | Acts 16:33 | Huron | 110046
I'm trying to settle in my own mind whether or not the NT gives any credence to infant baptism. If the word "household" includes babies in this verse, it is a small amount of evidence for infant baptism. I realize that there are no direct stories in the NT where the Apostles clearly and directly baptized infants, but I want to make sure I research the topic completely. I had thought that Philip's statement to the Ethopian Enuch (Acts 8:37) was airtight against infant baptism, but I see in Metzgers'Commentary on the New Testament Greek that the verse was likely added to the original text. No arguing please, but I'm hoping that those of you out there who have considered both sides of this issue will lend your thoughts! Regards and Thanks! Huron |

48 | Adam and sin entering the world. | Rom 5:12 | Huron | 108658
I've been reading Romans. In Chapter 5, verse 12 it discusses how sin entered the world through Adam. Anyone have any insight into how exactly? Was sin inherited through Adam, or was Adam a representative so to speak?
49 | Natural man understanding truth? | Mark 12:34 | Huron | 104166
Scribe, Thanks for your insight. I have been told that natural man is dead to the things of God (Ephesians 2:1 and others). If this scribe hadn't been born again yet, how could he have understood that what Jesus was saying was the truth? Huron |

50 | Not far from the kingdom of God? | Mark 12:34 | Huron | 104060
What is Jesus saying here when he says that "You are not far from the kingdom of God"? Is he saying that this man is close to understanding about God? Is he saying this man is almost a child of God? Thanks! |

51 | abiding in Christ by communion? | John 6:56 | Huron | 97647
I realize this verse is figurative, but what is Jesus telling us here? I don't think it means that we take communion to be in union or abide in Christ, but I'm not sure exactly what the message is here. Thanks! Huron |

53 | Jude quoting OT? Apochrypha? | Jude 1:9 | Huron | 96803
Anyone know what OT reference Jude is talking about here? I can't seem to find the original account. Might just be the fact I don't have a complete concordance. Thanks! Huron |

54 | "Disciples" in Acts 19.1 | Acts 19:1 | Huron | 96705

55 | Reconciling 1 Tim 2:4 with Rom 8:29 | 1 Tim 2:4 | Huron | 96577
How would one reconcile verses like 1 Tim 2:4, and 2 Pet 3:9 that speak of God desiring all men to be saved, with verses like Romans 8:29 and Ephesians 1:5? that speak of predestination? Note - I'm not trying to be divisive, I'm just wondering what some different viewpoints are. I welcome opinions from both points of view. Huron |

56 | "decision theology" I think I see it now | Bible general Archive 2 | Huron | 96350
I think I see the problem now. When people hear the term "decisionism" or "decisionist" they assume that you believe in the mass produced, walk down to the alter and repeat this prayer procedural type "decision" for Christ. Am I right? |

57 | God must first seek the man? | Luke 15:11 | Huron | 96342
NC, You wrote, "before a man can seek God, God must first have sought the man". Doesn't God seek ALL men? (1 Timothy 2:4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.) (The person that I've been talking with believes in single predestination) |

58 | Prodigal follow up | Luke 15:11 | Huron | 96308
In my mind this parable demonstrates that although we are saved by grace through faith, we must make a decision about Christ/receive Him. I see this parable as showing that although the prodigal son was dead spiritually (clearly not following the Lord when he made his decision) God still allows us to choose him. So although God is all powerful, he is still a perfect gentleman and allows us to choose life in His Son. Of course we do this after we realize that we could never earn salvation on our own, but must believe in the Lord Jesus. Would that be accurate? The reason I'm asking this question is that others say that we are dead to God and can't do anything, therefore we can't make a decision for Christ. |

59 | Prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) who is he? | Bible general Archive 2 | Huron | 96236
In Luke 15:11-32 who are the two sons? I'm convinced that the story illustrates a sinner coming to repentance. I want to be sure that I haven't overlooked any possibilities. Is it possible the two sons represent the Jews and the Gentiles? Any other possibilities that I am overlooking? Thanks and Regards, Huron |
