AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Bible Question (short): Acts 2:38 Repentance and Baptism? |
Question (full): To the casual observer it looks like Peter is saying for us that we can be saved through repentance and baptism. This seems to fly in the face of Ephesians 2:8,9. Is it possible that Peter is really saying to repent, and then be baptized BECAUSE we have forgiveness of sins? The reason that I'm asking is because he makes no reference to baptism in Acts 3:19 where he preaches at portico of Solomon. Regards and Thanks! Huron |
