401 | Jesus and the ruling Powers | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 209155
You might want to contrast the character of Jesus who was sinless with the character of the ruling powers - the Sadducees and the Pharisees. You can do this by reading the gospels and marking each in a different color. Then writing out the specific characteristics of each. The nature of the Kingdom of God sounds like the contrast of the Sadducees and Pharisees wanted to keep their earthly "kingdom", power, etc. where Christ Jesus had a heavenly kingdom. You could contrast the earthly kingdom which was power, status, control, etc. with the heavenly kingdom which was holy, righteous, etc. Hope this helps - Val
402 | need information on galatians Chapter 6 | Heb 3:12 | Val | 209142
No offense was taken Kcab. I use the Precept Upon Precept bible studies found at Precept.org. I am currently studying Hebrews Part 2. There is a resource that is not affliated with Precept.org which is called Preceptaustin. You may enjoy looking at the commentaries there. It also explains the inductive method among many other good articles. I really don't know how to explain things in a forum like this. Sorry I could not be of more help. Blessings -Val |

403 | how can we minister to homosexuals | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 209130
Greetings Doc, I just wanted to tell you something I discovered one time in witnessing to a person who would not give up a particular sin. I forgot which book I was studying at the time but the point was that a person who has the Holy Spirit will be convicted of sin. I ask during this time if that person was ever convicted that what they were doing, since the bible said it was wrong, were they ever convicted that what they were doing was wrong. Upon saying no I then said well maybe you don't have the Holy Spirit because the bible says if you do have the Holy Spirit, He will convict you of sin. To make a long story short the person did forsake that besetting sin. All praise to the Lord. I just wanted to share that with you. Blessings Val |

404 | need information on galatians Chapter 6 | Heb 3:12 | Val | 209123
Original Question was I need information on Galatians Chapter 6:1-8. It has to do with the falling away. I await your response. Maybe you can direct me to a place. My Answer was: When Christ came the first time and brought in the new covenant the message was proclaimed to all the people. There were many responses to His message. Some embraced the message but when persecution started they decided maybe it wasn't what they wanted. Some wanted to mix the priesthood of the old covenant with the new covenant. This was not proper. The Apostle Paul explains in several of his letters why. It was especially hard for those in positions of leadership, the priesthood, to give up their exalted positions. Their influence caused an uproar in some of the cities Paul visited. They would follow him around and cause trouble. Some who seemed to receive the message went back to the old covenant maybe to please their peers and the priests. A study of faith and hearts might help you understand this topic. A study of the priesthood, Leviticus, a study of Hebrews, the new covenant compared to the old covenant, a study of Acts, the history of the church, and Paul's epistles, shows this controversy. Blessings - Val Your response to my answer was: Miss Val: I am looking in your teaching you are saying many of things I am not fully understanding from you. I am listing your question/comments and following each one is my answer. Question 1) This new covenant message is salvation is it not. Answer: Yes, Read the letter to the Hebrews. Mark covenant in one color when it is in reference to the Old Covenant and Mark covenant in a different color when it is reference to the New Covenant. Also mark any synonyms. After you have made these markings, make two columns with one side writing the verses in reference to the Old Covenant and side two with the verses in reference to the New covenant. After you have completed this make an additional column showing how Christ is better than the Old Covenant. Question 2) When Jesus proclaimed the covenant message to all the people did he do it in telling them he was the savior. Answer – Yes Question 3) you then teach the responses of the people to his message were many does not the bible say his message from his beginning was The Kingdom is at hand? Answer – Yes Question 4) Also all of his teachings on the parables is this what you are teaching on when you say some believed what he was saying then when the persecutions started then they stopped following is that not the parable about the one sowing? Answer – I don’t know. Comment 5) I am not finding in my reading where you are saying the priesthood is causing the problems as you say I think it is speaking of the devout Jews in the towns where Paul was going to do the teaching in. Answer – Read the letter to the Hebrews. Mark priest in one color and priest when it refers to Christ in a different color. Continue the assignment as in the answer to Question 1. Comment 6) Maybe I am not understanding clearly from you teaching maybe you are saying the ones in the authority of them was the other Apostles those were saying that the Gentiles would having to be circumcised and following the laws no eating of the blood of the animals and the things that are being chocked is those the ones you are saying about causing like you are saying some of the people to be falling away and going back because of the peers of them Answer: No I was talking about the priests/leaders under the old covenant. Question 7) Am I right in the way I am sending this to you? Answer – Yes I use the inductive study bible by Kay Arthur that can be purchased at this site. At the beginning of each book of the bible are questions to look for in the text that will help you to study the bible. There is no way I can teach you these things myself in this forum, however I can show you how to study to find the answers yourself and that is by directing you to this bible. That is why I included in my post to the original question the books of the bible that reference this topic. Leviticus, Hebrews, Acts, Paul’s epistles. Again, welcome to the forum. I hope I have answered your questions so far. Blessings – Mrs. Val |

407 | why God reprents for making saul as king | 2 Sam 1:1 | Val | 209071
In the book of 2 Samuel the account is given of the relationship of Saul and the Lord as well as Saul and the Lord's prophet Samuel. The Lord gave Saul instructions through His prophet Samuel. Saul did not wait on Samuel but went ahead and offered sacrifices. The Lord gave Saul another chance and gave him instructions concerning the evil King Agag. Saul did not obey the Lord. This time the Lord torn the kingdom from Saul. All of this was revealed to Saul through the prophet Samuel. Samuel loved Saul and mourned this fact. The Lord had to prompt Samuel to move ahead. The message for us may be that we must keep moving forward. Things do not always turn out the way we want them and people may disappoint us by their disobedience to the Lord. It is our personal responsibility to obey the Lord.
408 | Is "Paradise" the same as heaven? | Luke 23:43 | Val | 209029
PP, for now if you could just put aside this man that is influencing you, Mr. Moore and lets discuss the scriptures. As far as sickness goes, there are many people in scripture who were healed and some were not. It is according to God's will for that person's life. For the christian healing may be provided by taking them home to be with the Lord. This world is not meant to be our home. We are looking for a city whose maker is the living God. Book of Hebrews. Notice Stephen was full of the holy spirit. When he was stoned he had just given the story of the nation of Israel and their relationship to the living God. What is it about healing that interests you most? Do you or someone you love need physical healing? Sometimes out of our need we embrace beliefs that are off-balance. Disappointment will come in this life. If we do not prepare ourselves we may become devastated when the healing that we think we deserve does not come. Some people tell sick people they don't have enough faith or that it is because of some sin in their life that they are not healed. The truth is we don't know why some people are healed and others not. We are to follow Christ not man. Do not let this man become an idol to you. Listen for the encouragement of people on the forum. They love God and want to help you. They have a high view of scripture. Some have already checked out the man and have offered their advice. If you continue to persist in promoting this man, you may disqualify yourself from participating on this forum. Val |

409 | Is "Paradise" the same as heaven? | Luke 23:43 | Val | 209012
PP - do you have any additional scriptures that support your view? As has been said before this belief is outside the pale of orthodox christianity. Since this is the case lets deal with scripture. There are websites that explain the WOF movement. For instances Apologeticsindex is one. Do you have any additional scriptures? Also how does Stephen relate to the topic at hand? - Blessings - Val
410 | References that deal with "a sane mind"? | 2 Tim 1:7 | Val | 209010
2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. This verse is good for one who has fears. There are chemical imbalances that people may have who would need to go to get help in the medical community. Of course go to the Lord in prayer first. |

413 | Is "Paradise" the same as heaven? | Luke 23:43 | Val | 208995
Dear PP: Welcome to the forum. This is a very interesting statement you made regarding sickness and demons. However, I always like to look at the passage myself. It helps me to look at the context to see who was speaking, who was being spoken to, what was happening then, and so on before I make application. Could you provide the passage please so that we may examine it? Thanking you in advance - Val |

414 | purification | Lev 12:1 | Val | 208993
Juststudyingthebible: This passage of scripture is a law regarding how to come to the tabernacle to worship God. There were very specific rules. It is not about how long a women physically has her flow. There was a waiting time whether it was a boy or girl bably that she was to wait before coming to the tabernacle to worship. This is part of the covenant that was done away with, see Hebrews to see how Christ brought in the New Covenant. One thing that might help you is to go through the book of Leviticus and mark "clean" and "unclean". Then write down these verses. I studied Leviticus in a bible study called Precept Upon Precept. It was very helpful to me. The inductive bible can be purchased at this site. At the beginning of each book of the bible it gives you questions to ask of the text to help you better understand it. I have used this bible for many years. After doing your own study you can go to commentaries such as those that are free at Preceptaustin.org. May God bless - Val Lev 12:1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Lev 12:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: 'When a woman gives birth and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean for seven days, as in the days of her menstruation she shall be unclean. Lev 12:3 'On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. Lev 12:4 'Then she shall remain in the blood of her purification for thirty-three days; she shall not touch any consecrated thing, nor enter the sanctuary until the days of her purification are completed. Lev 12:5 'But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean for two weeks, as in her menstruation; and she shall remain in the blood of her purification for sixty-six days. Lev 12:6 'When the days of her purification are completed, for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring to the priest at the doorway of the tent of meeting a one year old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering. Lev 12:7 'Then he shall offer it before the LORD and make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, whether a male or a female. Lev 12:8 'But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.'" |

415 | how did jesus teach disciples about | Matt 16:19 | Val | 208989
Matt, yes it is a bit overwhelming at times. Writing in a forum like this comes across much stronger than in a verbal conversation. It is hard to humble ourselves and be willing to learn from one another each time we enter into discussion. If you seem arrogant or cast hurtful sentences at others you risk being disqualified to participate. Try to be a bit more humble and respectful to others opinions and you will have no problem here. May you grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. Val |

416 | What about this 144,000? | John 14:6 | Val | 208829
Hi John, Thank you for your continued encouragement and your support is comforting and brings a smile to my face. Heb 3:12 Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. Heb 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end, Heb 3:15 while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME." Heb 3:16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? Heb 3:17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? Heb 3:18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? Heb 3:19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief. Keep resting in our blessed Redeemer - Val |

Thank you Cheri! I have been praying for you and thank our Lord that He has healed you. God is good!!! Heb 2:16 For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Heb 2:17 Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. May our Lord bless you with days of health and wellness. - Val |

419 | What about this 144,000? | John 14:6 | Val | 208799
Hi Matt, I understand what you are saying Matt. I too agree that a thorough understanding of our blessed Holy Bible is the best defense and offense. I have been a christian many years and seek to witness to others as well as make a defense of the Holy bible passages when known "cults" use the passages in a way that dishonors our blessed Lord. Many bible students have worked and put in long hours in disecting beliefs of these known "cults". Their hours of hard work has helped those of us with limited time and experience to understand where it is that they err. Having this knowledge in my hand serves to give me a bottom line of what these "cults" believe rather than me having to study for hours to try to understand their thinking. Therefore with this resource readily available it is another armor in the true believer's battle against the enemy who wants to distort, change, add to, the truth of who God the father, Christ Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit is and has done. I am well equipped now to share with those who come to my door the gospel of Jesus Christ who purchased with His own blood my eternal redemption. In fact I had a couple of ladies come to my door a couple of times. I was mostly annoyed by them but felt impressed to share the gospel with them. I expressed my concern to the Lord that if He wanted me to speak with them I would the next time they appeared at my door. They did appear again a third time. This time with a brief prayer for wisdom, memorized scripture and a gracious approach I was allowed to share the gospel with them. They did not come back to my door again. However, I shared what I had studied, believed and was able to boldly proclaim the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus my Lord. I knew what they believed about Christ because of the resources I named in a previous post. I believe a genuine daily study of the Holy bible is essential in this spiritual warfare. We live in an age that knowledge via the internet is abundant. I believe I would be amiss if I did not utilize all the resources the Spirit leads me to using discernment and the plumb line of the Holy Bible. I have studied Paul. He was probably the most intelligent apostle of all. If you look at some of his speaches you will actually see he knew quite a bit about the opponents of the gospel. He actually quoted one of their own poets. He knew about the Pharisees and Sadduces beliefs about resurrection and used them to his advantage when he was in a pickle. There will probably never be anyone as gifted as our beloved Paul. Heb 1:7 And of the angels He says, "WHO MAKES HIS ANGELS WINDS, AND HIS MINISTERS A FLAME OF FIRE." Heb 1:8 But of the Son He says, "YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER, AND THE RIGHTEOUS SCEPTER IS THE SCEPTER OF HIS KINGDOM. Heb 1:9 "YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU WITH THE OIL OF GLADNESS ABOVE YOUR COMPANIONS." Keep the faith - Val |

420 | What about this 144,000? | John 14:6 | Val | 208798
Your welcome Steve and thank you for the website you mentioned as well. Heb 1:1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, Heb 1:2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. Heb 1:3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Heb 1:4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. |
