361 | The mark of the Beast and the Mason | Rev 13:16 | Scribe | 43198
Revelation 13:16-18 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Revelation 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. It appears that the mark is a number and the number is associated with the Name of the Beast and the Beast is the antichrist Rev 13:11 We do not know what it is yet. But when it begins people that read the Bible and know the Lord will understand. And it will be required that the receipient must do something horrible such as deny Christ or even blashpeme the Holy Spirit. Understand that this all occurs after the Church is taken up to the Lord and judgements are poured out on mankind. Those that refuse the mark at that time will suffer greatly but in the end they will be saved. |

362 | Question about Church on Wednesday night | Heb 10:25 | Scribe | 43194
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For the saint that knows the Lord and communes with the Holy Spirit, it is not about which day we meet with the saints for mutual fellowship. However it is critical that we assemble. We find that God has ordained that He reveals himself to us through the other members of the Body and not just in our own prayer or study time. Now if you are on a desert Island or in jail with no other fellowship God will still reveal everything about Himself to you even though you are not in contact with any other person or teacher. However if a saint has a choice about it in that they are not is jail or cut off from others, then they must assemble with others out of love. If they do not then God will allow them to suffer a slowing of their spiritual growth until they learn the lesson that they need the Body. If your church is so boring and unfruitful that going to Wednesday night service is a "test of endurance" and you only do it to say "you did it." then you most likely need to find a church that is more full of the Spirit of God and is letting God control the services. Once you experience the gifts of the Spirit in an assembly of saints (prophecy, words of wisdom, words of knowledge, etc) you find that God is speaking to His people and you do not want to miss out on it. Or if go to a church where the Teaching is on the level of the mature instead of the babes you long to go back and hear more. Unfortunately too often pastors buy into the misunderstanding that their people do not want to hear challenging teachings so they teach on the level of the babes in christ and thus their congregations stay as babes. But I am on my soap box now and I will stop. May God Bless you in your Study of His Word. |

363 | Could Mark 9:1 refer to Acts 2:1ff? | Mark 9:1 | Scribe | 43186
No. John saw the Power of the Coming when he saw Jesus transfigured in the next verse. The saints will be transifigured like this when the Lord Comes.
364 | How does Dan 12:1-3 relate to Mar 9:1? | Mark 9:1 | Scribe | 43169
Wait. Please read this carefully. 2 Peter 1:16-18 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the POWER AND COMING of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. Do you see that Peter says that what he observed on the mount was a type of the POWER and COMING of the Lord? NOW look again... Mark 9:1-2 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God COME with POWER. And after six days Jesus taketh with him PETER, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. Peter has told you what Jesus was meaning by this statement "some of you standing here will see the POWER and COMING" I know it sort of passes over our heads at first reading but when You see Peter explain it then it is no longer in question. There is no reason to wonder about what Jesus meant when Peter tells you. This is not my own interpretation. Look it up you will find most logical commentaries treat this the same way. If not the writer did not know the bible very well. This is very simple to understand. May God bless you in your study of His Word. |

365 | we only barely get into heaven by Jesus | 1 John 5:11 | Scribe | 43162
1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Consider it like this. The storm of the century is on the way. Nay the storm of the Millenium. And this storm is the Wrath of an infinitly Holy God. Only those that cleave to Christ with the desperation of man tossed on the sea with only a life float to cleave to will survive. The idea is that of the surety of our shelter in this storm but only for those that put their faith in it as it were a desperate clinging to for life. Do we need to fear that God will let us drown if we get slack? Yes. Heresy you say? NO it is called faith! Faith in God must not relax, lest you find your faith shipwrecked. Does that put the emphasis on you? NO it puts it on Faith. The Faith that comes from God is already given, you do not have to ask for more faith or fear you do not have enough. BUT YOU DO HAVE TO USE WHAT YOU HAVE. God bless you in your study of His Word. |

366 | eternal security | 1 John 5:11 | Scribe | 43158
Thank you. Once again you are saying the same thing that I am. You are saying that those that LIVE that way habitually do NOT have the promise of eternal life. And this is true. I cringe when I hear doctrines that for anyone listening or reading sound as if the speaker is saying a 'christian' can sin like the world and still go to heaven but loose rewards. I am glad you know that is not true. I agree that no saint can be plucked from the Father's hand. I do wonder sometimes when I hear this quoted why the context is not mentioned His sheep hear his voice and follow him and no man can pluck them from His hand. It seems that if the sheep are not hearing his voice or following him they are not His sheep at all. I suppose my main point is never to cast doubt on the eternal security of the believer, but rather to warn the froward. The coming of the Lord draws nigh and I tremble at the idea of what will happen to some I know who have no sense of danger for their soul and who claim salvation while walking in all manner of sins of the flesh. I see a night and day difference between repenting of sin (and all sin was paid for at the cross) and living in known sin without repenting. If people comfort themselves in their imaginations that they can "fall and repent later" then they are nigh unto cursing. If they are sincere in their repentance, even if they fall a thousand times God will lift them up. Of course what really happens is if they are sincere in their repenting they will get victory over sins a lot sooner than they may think, or it will not take a thousand falls if they are crying out to God to be avenged of their adversary as the widow before the judge in Jesus' parable. The Lord will avenge them and that speedily. It is all about the condition of the heart and that we do have a choice in. Yes we have free will and we can cry out to God this day. And God has established it so that He will not do anything for us unless we ask in faith. Oh I know HE does many things for us that we did not ask for, but this verse still means something and what it means is that we will not fulfill our true destiny until we rise up in fervent faith. James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. I am convinced based on the reading of the Bible that there will be many that will say they are sheep that they cannot be plucked from His hand and Jesus will say, you are a goat and I never knew you, you worker of iniquity. So for argument's sake I agree with all my baptist (and other denominations) brethren that say Once a saint is converted they cannot be lost. But I also hope they will preach to those unconcerned and indifferent souls they see living a life that is wicked that they have not right to claim they are saved or that they are a sheep or that they are in the Father's hand. Why is that important. Because without holiness no man shall see the Lord. God bless you and God bless this forumn for mutual edification and not for fleshly strife. |

367 | Not keeping the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43123
If you do not trust the finished Work of Christ on the cross as sufficient to make you in rightstanding with God and thus enter into that rest (this is keeping the Sabbath) then you would not enter into the rest. And then you would be still trusting in your own works which are not sufficient. Or were you talking about going to a church on a Saturday?
368 | eternal security | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43122
See this is where we end up saying the same thing on both sides of the controversy. You say he was never saved in the first place. Why? Because the Spirit of God within you tells you that one that lives like that is not going to heaven. Well we end up at the same conclusion. Only I do not pass judgement whether he ever was part of the true church or not. However I do judge that he is not now part of the church; because of the life style. If we both agree with Paul that he that practices these things will not inherit the kingdom of God (and I think you know the verses I am referring to) then we are in agreement and there isn't any controversy at all. It is when men say things from the pulpit such as "I am telling you, you can live like hell, and still go to heaven, you just might not have any rewards when you get there" (I heard this preaced with my own ears) it is when these kind of statements are made or beleived that the brethren start into the divisions. And it must be that such a division take place when such statments are made, because God always causes the holy to reject such heresy. May God Bless You in your Study of His Word. |

370 | eternal security | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43075
But maybe it does make the list. In order to think you (not you but the I use you as the person that thinks this way) have access to heaven while addicted to a moral impurity, you would have to think your idea is true despite what the larger body of scripture seems to say (proud and presumptious), You would go about saying I am saved even though I have this addiction (lying tongue), You lead many weak minds to follow you in the "license to sin" in which they become twofold the child of hell by your example, (shed innocent blood), You get harder and less concerned about your addiction over time and think that you could probably be forgiven carte blanche for other faults so that you think less about them than you use to (deviseth wicked imaginations), you end up playing around with other sins that you were once delivered from (swift to run to mischief) and you go about claiming that you are still saved (false witness) and you argue the point creating cults and denominatioins to seperate from those that say it isn't so (sow discord among the brethren). At least it is worth considering. Tongue in Cheek :) |

372 | eternal security | Not Specified | Scribe | 43058
When speaking of eternal security are there denominations that actually believe that a christian could have a porn addiction, not repent, and die with it, and still go to heaven? I am trying to understand what it is that is being said by many concerning this subject. I know that the saint who walks in faith will repent of sins the Lord convicts them of and so they always have eternal security. I know that if a christian falls into a sin they are not lost. I know that even if they were to fall and then die in the same hour before they repented, it is hardly fathomable that they are eternally lost. But is practicing a porn addiction 'faith?' So then can such a one really claim the promise of eternal security? Shouldn't that christian fear eternal hell?

376 | Take Your Holy Spirit from me? | Ps 51:11 | Scribe | 43055
The Holy Spirit will not abide in an unrepentant murderer, in the OT or the NT. But if a man is repentant then he has promise of the Holy Spirit adiding with him forever. Why is this point important? Because there are those that are fornicating behind the backs of their mates today while going to church on Sunday and saying they believe in a doctrine that they are still going to heaven but they will just loose some rewards when they get there. They obviously do not have the Holy Spirit even now if they really believe this. |

377 | Take Your Holy Spirit from me? | Ps 51:11 | Scribe | 43051
? This admonishment from your friend sounds like the result of having to defend an unscriptural doctrine. He/she did not like that way the psalm was written and felt compelled to change it. This should have been a warning to him that they might have a wrong doctrine. The TRUTH does not need defending. I will sing and pray Psalms 51 as written and admonish anyone that would tell me not to that THEY should be carful that they are defending a man made doctrine. And if you don't think the Holy Spirit can be taken from a man then you do not have a healthy fear of God. If David had not of repented he would have ended up like Solomon sacrificing to false gods. New Testament christians can end up going back to what they were if they do not repent of sins that they are convicted of. Get rid of this strange idea that OT truth is false. Truth is eternal Truth never changed The Law and the Prophets did not become an untruth after the Cross The Law and the Prophets are understood in a fuller measure as a result of the Cross. The Jew is not bound to the ordinances of temple worship after the fulfillment of these things in Christ (the gentile never was) but the Truths that the temple worship were pointing to are eternal. The truth that the wages of sin is death is both a new testament and OT doctrine. No the Holy Spirit did not leave David, and it does not leave us if we have the heart of David and repent when convicted. But if David did not repent the Holy Spirit would have left. If a new testament saint hardens their heart and whispers peace and safety to themselves (with the help of the enemy) and refuses to repent of such things as fornication then they will eventually become apostate. But, you say this cannot happen, they will always eventually repent becuase they are born again and cannot stay in that miserable state. And to that I say amen, that is why you know them by their fruits. The saved repent. If one refuses to repent and dies in that state they are not saved. |

378 | The Ordination of Women | NT general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43046
This is one area where understanding early New Testament culture is important. Also reading the context of the scriptures. The true doctrine is that women should be under authority but they can preach and teach only they should be under authority of spiritual men. Also there is not a lot of scriptural backing for the idea of ordination anyway. I mean if leaders lay hands on her and send he forth after they have all prayed and heard from God then that is scriptural. But formal ordination and letters and licenses are man made and never were commanded by God. Those are attempt of men to control other preachers threatening them with removal of office if they do not agree with their doctrines. If she is called by God she will have a peaceful heart and walk in Love and in a spirit of gentleness, obey God. She will do the will of God and preach what He tells her to, to whom He tells her to, while the carnal argue over whether she should or not. And while they are arguing about it, she will be winning souls and laying up treasure in heaven. Tell her to join a charismatic church or a non-denominational church, they welcome women and recognize that God uses women just like men. The one thing she must not do is strive with men about it. If God has called her to preach, she will do so, and no man will be able to stop her, howbeit she should not say this, but rather just do it. God Bless You in your Study of His Word You can read in many commentaries how the women were asking questions out of order and that was why Paul said they should ask their husbands at home. And in the church a woman should not have authority over a man. So I think that rules out single women pastoring. But not entirely. What I mean is that a missionary woman will often operate in the office of a pastor until a man is appointed. There were women judges in Israel and there will be women that God chooses today. The main thing is the heart that has faith in God. Whether it be woman , man or child, if an individual exercises faith in God He will move heaven and earth to show himself mighty on thier behalf. The thing that amazes me is how certain denominations made by men will create laws for new testament saints and forget about the spirit of the message. You would think that after reading the New testament they would get it. That there are no such "laws" for New testament saints. We walk in holiness that is greater than anything the OT saints new, and we do it without a list of rules. We do it by fellowship with God. The truth will set her free. |

379 | Why admit Two Prophets were not THERE? | Mark 9:1 | Scribe | 43040
The "some standing here" are Peter, James, and John Mark 9:1-3 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. What Jesus is saying is that " I am about to show you what the power of the coming of Jesus Christ at his second coming will be like." so he takes them up to the mountian and they see him Transfigured as bright as the sun This is exactly what happens to the saint when they are changed in a twinkling of an eye and rise to meet the Lord. At that moment they will partake of His glory. Not a disappearing from view but a transfiguration It says we are changed in a twinkling not that we dissapear from view in a twinkling. This is the only part of the rapture doctrine I have an issue with. I believe this does happen prior to the Wrath of God poured out on wicked mankind, but the world sees us rise in glory. It will be an glorious vindication. Also the devil will try to stop it by arguing that we do not have a right to miss out on death because of sin. Michael will war with satan in the heavenly (spiritual realm) which we will enter into, and then Michael will point to the legal justification of the Cross and Christ as why we can miss death. The devil will be cast down from the spiritual realm of the power of the air that he now has access to and will then seek to posses the anti christ (speculation on my part). The saints rise and the heavenly host praises God that we have overcome the accuser that accused us night and day by the blood of the lamb and by our testimony of the Word (being born again of the word of God). Now look at this that Peter says, Peter who was there when Jesus said "here be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power." This same Peter that then saw that power on the mount... says this.. 2 Peter 1:16-17 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter 1:18-19 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Daniel 12:1-3 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. Do you see it? Hallelujah! May God Bless you in the Study of his Word. |

380 | Pretribulation or slightly after ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 43007
One other note I would like to add. What if the understanding of the "glorification and rising of the saints" (see why we use 'rapture') was clearly laid out in the 19th century. Would that make it unbiblical? I mean do you think all things eschatological has been explained prior to recent time. Many things dealing with the book of Revelation have been ignored by teachers and expositors that were prolific in other areas but avoided the study of eschatology. So it stands to reason that there are many truths buried in the Scripture that were not dealt with by your favorite teachers. :) We all know (or at least the well grounded among us) that there is no room for strange new doctrines that contradict that which is well established such as salvation by faith alone etc... but there are many truths in the Bible, especially the prophets of the OT that have been ignored by the ignorant masses of the church who are too busy to study the Bible. Some of these truths are waiting to be rediscovered, not because they are new truths but becuase they have been ignored while men squabble over whether they have free will or not, or because they have been lost when once they were embraced prior to the age of the Catholicsim which lasted hundreds of years. We are still having to recover that fervency of spirit seen in the Book of Acts. Many a protestant church still wears the grave cloths of tradition that was inherited from their fore fathers but not from the Word of God. May God Bless you in your Study of His Word. |
