34722 | Am I judged by my deeds? | Rev 20:13 | Angel In Training | 159179
"...and each person was judged according to what he had done." Revelation 20:13 (NIV) I was just going over Revelation and found this portion of scripture. I know that I am saved by the grace of God and that the blood Jesus shed was enough: So why are "my works" being judged? The only way I can figure this out is that if I am truly committed to Jesus then my "works" will automatically be a reflection of my committment. Therefore, my works are not the things being judged, my committment to Jesus is. But then where's grace? Angel in Training |

34726 | Did Christ die the "second" death for us | Rev 20:14 | palaurin | 18447
I am new to the church and I feel that Christ died for our sins. He is our substitue, so in being our substitute, He died the "second" death, the death we deserve. A guy in our congregation says that if Christ died the "second" death, He would be no more, the same as those who will die this death at Christ's 'third' return to this earth. Is he right? I know I may be mistaken, but what are the Bible answers for the TRUTH? I am not familiar with the Bible to know where things are. I would like these answers by Wed, as we have prayer meeting and it will be good to discuss. (It came up last week at this meeting). Thank you, Peter Laurin |

34729 | Hell/Lake of Fire | Rev 20:14 | winningside | 171640
In Revelation 20:14 It says "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. I can not understand this in my mind somehow. If hell is a place of burning fire and people are already there, why would God then put them in the lake of fire or am I just missing something here? I am not trying to question God. I am questioning my own way of thinking. Thanks - winningside

34731 | Does hell really exist and how can I be | Rev 20:14 | victor516 | 240435
I have been reading a lot lately about the existence of hell and I found out that even within the cristian faith some believe that it exist and others that don't. I went to to Restored Church of Christ and found some compelling arguments based on scripture passages that would seem to indicate that there is no hell and that our penalty for sin is the second death. I also read and watch some videos from Chuck Missler from the Koianonian institute that explain and quotes verses that would seem to verify the existence of hell.........both appear to be accurate and based on the bible, how is this possible? How can something so important be confusing to the believer? Please help understand how can this be possible. Victor |

34738 | Perfected bodies | Rev 20:15 | skccab | 198841
Shalom y'all, I've just finished reading the end of Isaiah and a thought occurred to me that has never entered my mind before, so I thought I'd run by you folks. I know that we, as believers are promised healing (though not necessarily here in this life). I also believe that with that healing we will have perfected bodies (at the resurrection and in the world to come). My question is this: will unbelievers have "fixed" bodies to take into their judgment? Or will they go into eternity as they were when they died, toothless, blind, deaf, one armed or one legged, paraplegic, etc.? I can't think of any scripture that focuses on that aspect concerning unbelievers. Does anyone else know? My thinking is that they will not receive perfected bodies (since that is a part of the work of the Cross), but I was just wondering.... Thanks :-) Cheri |
