341 | As a believer can I commit suicide. | Matt 18:12 | justme | 199367
guitarrocker Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I cab see you have a tender heart and reached out in compassion and Christian love. However, as this is a Study Bible Forum we want to give a Scriptual answer, especially in a case like this. We are not a counseling forum, but it seems like Scripture and an answer keep the forum on track. Blessings justme |

342 | As a believer can I commit suicide. | Matt 18:12 | justme | 199366
LJ777: Could you give some Scripture to back up your opinion that "You cannot commit suicide and still get to heaven."? This si a Study Bible Forum, and as such people expect a Biblical answer, with Scripture to provide the answer. This is a very serious question that "dutruth" asked for help. Your and my opinions mean nothing, but the Word of God searches, heals, corrects, and the Holy Spirit is able to see the heart and will instruct when we use the Word of God. Again maybe I have overlooked some part of Scripture, please help me understand where you get to this instruction. |

343 | Baptism? | Luke 23:43 | justme | 199099
Hank (:-) I wonder sometimes is some ask the question about baptism being required for salvation, because they might be looking for a way out of being baptized. I personally question if a person says they are a believer, and have had enough time to have been baptized, and failed to follow the Lord in being baptized. Is it not a serious mistake for a new believer to see baptism as not required for outward proof that salvation has taken place? I in no way mean salvation by faith in Christ Jesus is incomplete. However, if there is no real desire to be baptized I wonder if the person has a flawed faith. I once shared Christ with a older woman who was dying of cancer. She prayed to make Jesus her Lord. She wanted to be baptized so badly she was willing to crawl into a baptistry or what ever it took to follow the example of her Lord. She was unable to even move from her bed due to the Iv's and other medical stuff. She begged and did not want to meet Jesus without being baptized. As a symbol of baptism I sprinkled her, and she passed on a very short time after being sprinkled. She was at peace, and I never thought I would ever sprinkle anyone for a substitute for being baptized. The point is this lady was willing to crawl if she could into a baptistry, and others won't even feel the slightest guilt. Well that's my two cents worth. justme |

344 | KJV only believers. | 2 Tim 3:16 | justme | 197680
Hank: After reading your note I did some thinking, (which can be dangerious at times) and I remembered I have a photo copy of the 1611 Edition King James Bible. printed by Thomas Nelson Publishers printed in 1982. There in the font is 11 pages titled "THE TRANSLATORS TO THE READER". These pages have such very small print it's very hard to read. The English is the 1611 which in it's self is odd to comprehend. All that being said, if someone thakes the time to stumble, uninterrupted while reading, it caould dake the better part of a day to read all of pages. For instance here is an example of the odd spelling inthe 1611 KJV. "*The Bookes of the New Teftament*" That's spelling is almost as bad as the way I spell....LOL. Blessings Hank. justme |

Hank, dear neighbor to the south. You have give me help in a better way than I had thought of, thanks! Did your neck of the woods get much ice? We were without electric for several days. Reminded us that in te days of Jesus it was very much more difficult for people to live. We praise God for the blessings we have, but most of all for the gift Of His Son Jesus Christ! A blessed Holy Christmas to you and Mrs. Hank too. justme |

346 | why join army? | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 197105
Governments are Biblically responsible to provide protection for the people and the land on which they live, and to see justice is fair and right. In order to protect the citizens and the land of the country there has to be a group established to do that assignment. Call the group what you will, bet it Army or whatever. When prottection is needed often attacks come and a fight or war is the result and protection requires some to give their life while defending a countries rights. War is fearful, and those who are defending the country must face the fear of death or injury. There is no such thing as a holy war, but at least on the side of justice, there is a just war. There is a Biblical difference between murder and killing someone to defend basic human God given rifgts. We are to obey our leaders, and should we be given a task that is not in keeping with Biblical teaching, we must stand firm at whatever costs. I remind you that if those brave men and women were not willing to face the fear of war in WW II we just might be controled today by Germany or Japan. Many, many gave their life and carry the wounds they received, to this very day. I personally am a one hundred percent service connected US Veteran. For more than 39 years I have lived with major health issues due to a war we lost. I would do it all over again to assure we stay free. So in a very direct way I disagree with your wrong understanding of what the Bible says about a just war. justme |

347 | The Christian response? | Judg 1:13 | justme | 196979
Doc: At some funerals I have done, the person had never looked as nice, or never appeared like they were in better health. Perhaps, we too put on our "Christian makeup" for church, and take off the phoney face through the rest of the week. I can not imagine anyone with any understanding of what war does making the suggestion Rev. Hagee did. Ask any disabled Veteran how long war wounds last, or take to heal. The way Rev. Hagee talks he probably is an armchair warrior, with a purple butt medal. In Matthew 5 Jesus gave a better way to avoid conflicts, when at all possible. Thanks for your remarks Doc, blessings. justme |

PutGodFirst: Without going into much detail, may I say we have exepeinced the same except even worse, more than five times in our lives. I can fully empathize with you. Hank has said it so kindly to you, and I would read his note again. By all you have said I sincerely doubt your son is born again. Which is one reason to look at this situation is a different way. Salt never attracts flys. Sugar attracts flys all on it's own. Kindness and extending God's Love, Mercy and Grace are the better solution to reach a lost son and his bride. May God grant you wisdom in what you so chose to do. Blessings justme |

Hank: Your words are so kind and tender, sweet to the soul. What a great gift you have, the mastering of putting English words together in such beauty and love. I honestly admire your wisdom and kindness. Mrs. Justme and I have faced several pivotal points that either required a huge hug and forgiveness, or to put up a wall of turning our backs on those involved in a serious sinful situation. Seldom does walking away help the problem. Thank you for sharing your kind heart, and wisdom. Blessings. Justme (the Missouri mule) |

PutGodFirst: You emotional amd spiritual pain is very vivid. By what you have said I wonder if your son is genuinely born again. I have never seen a parent who did not attend a childs wedding, for such reasons, even mend the hurt feelings. To not attend may do more emotional damage to you, and drive the two of them even further from Christ. Have you and your husband sat down and prayed together about this? I believe husband and wife parying together is far less a practice than anyone could think. I think it is seldom if ever that couples pray together. My wife and I have seen so much happen when we pray together. We are retired, and we live 24, 7 together and this will put any marriage to the test. If couples just could understand how asking God together for winsdom and the way to show others mercy, grace, and Christian love, and to remember that how we forgive others is reflected in our own forgiveness. We will pray for you and your husband as well your son and bride to be. Blessings. justme |

PutGodFirst: I would encourage you to consider this painful choice. Perhaps attending and saying he has made the rught choice now, just might open the door for recconcilation. This is a huge major event in their life. Tell them what you did in the past was sinful, and wrong, but we pray you are making the correct choice now. Perhaps not attending might push him and his bride farther away from Christ. Your attending just might show them that there is forgiveness, because you are showing that they too can find the same in Christ.

Hank:-) Our pet turttle (soft shell) we got out of Lake of the Ozark, passed on. After many tears and feelings of sadness, what kind of funeral should we have, or should we eat it? We properly froze it's remains, so we could go either way. I feel sure an Arkansas man like yourself could give us some good advice. Thanks for your assistance in this matter. 359 | THE APOCALYPSE CODE, Have U read it? | Rom 11:17 | justme | 191421
BradK: Thank you for the website of Dr. Geisler, it was very informative. I have read many articles that are based in emotion and a theory that had some serious questions unanswered. Dr Geisler has presented an excllent debate as to why he disagrees with Hanegraaff. For me these men who do a good job of defending their positions with what they call Biblical truth, and each view is well documented with Scripture, only makes most believers more confused. I understand the four views, and I see merrit in only three of the four views. In reality as I understand what Jesus said in Matthew 24 we are to be ready, and not be tossed around but to be prepared for the return of Jesus Christ. I have no idea when Jesus will return, nor would I venture a guess. I do think that believers who make a living from publishing fiction books mixed with bits and snipets of biblical truth have brought to light the need to know what the Bible really says. In the same token the fictional LEFT BEHIND books have caused much confusion, having been taken for being totally Biblical. On the other hand I have heard that there are those who made a profession of faith In Jesus Christ because they read the Left Behind books. I find myself in the "in between area". We most likely will have to wait and see if Jesus Christ returns in our lifetime, or will I see Jesus Christ when I pass from this life to be with Him. I honestly don't have any idea which it will be. As I said before in a note in this thread, Hanegraaff's book will be one that will bring some attention to him, I am not sure if it will be bad or good, but as peopke read his book there will be a strong reaction one way or the other. Blessings to you Brad. justme |

BradK: Thank you for your response. Yes Hank does push his products more than I like. I am glad I don't have the bills for his radio time, perhaps that is why he pushes his products hard? Ther is only one perfect book that has ever written, the BIBLE. So any thing man does is always lacking in some area. I am positive no one has everything about the Apocalypse all down just right, and I believe Jesus has said that in Matthew 24. My wife and found some loose ends in Hanegraaff's book as well. In fact Mrs. Justme and Justme don't see eye to eye on this subject, and we went to the same Seminary! I openly admit she can come up with some points of interest and concern faster than a "speeding bullet, or a speeding locomotive, and able to leap over tall stacked books in one jump." I will look up the site, and again thanks, and blessings |
