301 | Reconciliation questions | 2 Cor 5:18 | terrib | 112400
mommapbs, Reconcile: The literal sense is to call back into union. To conciliate anew; to call back into union and friendship the affections which have been alienated; to restore to friendship or favor after estrangement; as, to reconcile men or parties that have been at variance. Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. (KJV) Reconciliation supposes a former state of amity and friendship, as man was originally with God. A breach of that friendship was made in the heart of man. It is to be understood not of a reconciliation of God to man, which Scripture nowhere speaks of, but of man to God. “For while we were yet sinners God loved us.” It is owing to His sovereign good will and pleasure that He took the first step towards it. He knew what a state of enmity and rebellion His people would fall into. His thoughts ran upon our peace and reconciliation from everlasting. He sent His Son so that in the fullness of time this should be brought about, "by Him", His Son Jesus Christ, whom He appointed and called to this work, and sent to do it and who is therefore, in prophecy, before this reconciliation was actually made, called "Shiloh", the Prince of Peace, in whom all the elect were gathered together, as in one head, and were reconciled in one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, through Him. Rather, to God the Father, to whom they were enemies. It was His law that was broken, and His justice that was injured. In a way of full satisfaction to law and justice, Christ has enacted this reconciliation by His sacrifice, sufferings, and death as expressed in, “having made peace through the blood of His cross.” (Joh 15:13 KJV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. If we are going to help reconcile a relationship, it must start "within" us first. "They shall know that you are Mine by your love for one another." terrib |

302 | Does the Devil know our thoughts? | Ps 139:23 | terrib | 112326
FWH, Satan is a fallen angel: Jud 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Angels watch over us: Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Satan is powerful: Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. Only God knows your thoughts: Psa 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: Isa 66:18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. Mat 12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: But Satan does keep track of us: Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Mat 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Mat 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. As God the Father has many angels watching us and ministering to us so Satan watches. Though he can not read our minds he is aware of what can turn us toward sin. He has seen how we respond to various weaknesses and knows how to temp us. And that is why God says, Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 303 | where Paul studied after his conversion? | Gal 1:12 | terrib | 112318
Greetings Renovate Me, I hope this helps: Gal 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Gal 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: Gal 1:14 And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. Gal 1:15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, Gal 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Gal 1:17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus. Gal 1:18 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. Gal 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. terrib |

306 | Is it wrong to have a passionate kiss? | 1 Thess 4:5 | terrib | 112167
Dear Justme, I appreciate your words. In this kind of situation we can only go by what the questioner says. I try to listen to what they are actually saying and try to respond to what God has told me or what I have experienced in my own life. We ALL know what power the flesh can have over us and we know what we have to do to overcome it. If a person is so inclined to ask questions on this forum we must realize that they are not here by accident. God has sent them here. If any of us can help, it is our duty to lead them in the direction that God commands. If we are silent the judgement could come back on us. God will bless you also, terrib |

307 | Is it wrong to have a passionate kiss? | 1 Thess 4:5 | terrib | 112148
Dear Tator Bug, I say the following in love: Because you have brought this subject up, I see that you already know the answer and are looking for some justification. You say, “it’s something we can’t help.” Yes, you can! You say, “WE can’t help.” By your passionate kiss are you instigating the passion? And is your boyfriend thereby responding to your passion? Be aware in some men it does not take much to start an arousal. And the flesh loves to conform to its natural instincts. And God has warned us about this: Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Jam 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. The lust, or natural forces, of the flesh is not a plaything. If both of you want to be reverent in the Face of God, STOP! This situation has been compared to a rollercoaster. Once the cars get over the FIRST hill the ride is not over until it reaches its destiny, the end, as the epistle by James states. For your future protection, I would make a pack, promise, with your boyfriend, that since you have this feeling and are in doubt, to refrain from this until you get married. It is better to be single than burn if he does not go along with you. For not all men can contain as Paul explains: (1Co 7:9 KJV) But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. You know the answer. Don’t make your boyfriend stumble. terrib |

308 | must be saved to break bread? | 1 Cor 11:28 | terrib | 112143
In favor of Morant61 and Searcher56, refer to: Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. History is written that we may learn and apply these things to our lives. sojourn: means "to dwell for a time" Exo 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. Though the above Scripture deals with the passover and circumcision the premise is the same: If they have put away the things of the world they should be treated as one of you. Lev 19:33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. Only the Father knows the intent of the heart so it would be wise not to spoil the prospect of having that one come to the Saving Grace of our Lord. The Holy Spirit may not be done with them and is in the process of conversion. It would be a terrific time to introduce that person to the Lord Jesus and possibly explain to them the extent of the actions they are participating in. In most services the Pastor explains exactly what communion is about but perhaps the visitor doesn't understand. As the eunuch reading the scroll of Isaiah and Philip had to explain it to him. Then he was converted. (Mat 22:39 KJV) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. terrib |

309 | Center of my Life? | Ps 118:8 | terrib | 112122
Hi Punkiedo, Being attacked (not happened yet) does not bother me for I know there are only two religions in this world - God's and Satan's. By the way, there will not be any Pentecostals in Heaven nor will there be any Baptists there nor any other branch by which they have been named, only Christians. So that part I understand and forbear. Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. I have not checked out that piece of trivia either but thought it was interesting. I do know that chapter and verse numbering is not in the original manuscripts but interesting none the less. Thanks for your response. I did read your profile. Welcome aboard! terrib |

310 | Center of my Life? | Ps 118:8 | terrib | 112110
Dear members, I know this is not a trivia forum, but this is too amazing to pass up. Q: What is the shortest chapter in the Bible? A: Psalms 117 Q: What is the longest chapter in the Bible? A: Psalms 119 Q: Which chapter is in the center of the Bible? A: Psalms 118 Fact: There are 594 chapters before Psalms 118 Fact: There are 594 chapters after Psalms 118 Add these numbers up and you get 1188. Q: What is the center verse in the Bible? A: Psalms 118:8 Q: Does this verse say something significant about God's perfect will for our lives? The next time someone says they would like to find God's perfect will for their lives and that they want to be in the center of His will, just send them to the center of His Word! Psalms 118:8 (NKJV) "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man." Now isn't that odd how this worked out (or was God in the center of it)? terrib |

312 | Narrow Gate further questions | Matt 7:14 | terrib | 111986
BDE, You wrote, "What action of ours constitutes entering through the small gate?" God has given us the ability to make choices. By making the choice to follow Jesus we have entered through the strait gate. (Mat 7:13 KJV) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: The only thing Jesus is asking us to do is believe in Him. He is the way. (Joh 14:6 KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." means the choice is strait and narrow. By believeing in Him we have entered through the gate. Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. You wrote, "Once we have done so how can we ensure we stay on this path to salvation?" And here again we have choices. The book of James may help in understanding Christian living. In studying the Bible, more of these meanings will be opened up to you and your understanding and faith will be increased. (Rom 10:17 KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Hearing what? The Word of God. How do we hear it? Read, listening to sermons. And by reading His Word our hearing gets better and leading to understanding. Jesus also promised not to leave us without any guidance. (Joh 14:26 KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Hope this helps, terrib |

313 | man ability to choose or reject God why | Bible general Archive 2 | terrib | 111951
Dear Samm, God is Holy and He must do all things that reflect that Holiness. You can not love a chair. You can not love a car. Without choice we would be no greater than a clod of dirt. But God has given us this choice to show our love for Him. We are in a battle and the enemy is against God and all that He has created. In God's wisdom and righteous ways of carrying out judgement He has created us to become more honored than the angels. And thus by being such lowly creatures (lower than the angels in our present state), through our choices, these lowly creatures (man, whom have attained the promise) will judge the iniquities of Satan by our choices and show all of Heaven the righteousness of God. (Exo 34:14 KJV) For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: (i.e. Man - you do not have the ability to create anything higher than yourself and if you try to, I, your God, will show you to be wrong by My jealousy of My creation. This also is known as Love.) (Nah 1:2 KJV) God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies. The Plan In Very Short Terms: Satan: fallen by choice (Jud 1:6 KJV) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. (2Pe 2:4 KJV) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; Man: made lower than angels (Psa 8:3-9 KJV) When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; (8:4)what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? (8:5)For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. (8:6)Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:(8:7)all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;(8:8)the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.(8:9)O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Christ: as a man overcame (Col 2:15 KJV) And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Church: we see God's wisdom (Eph 3:10 KJV) To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, The war: (Eph 6:12 KJV) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Judgement: (1Co 6:3 KJV) Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? How can you love someone without choice. If it wasn't for choice there would be no cause to be created. If it wasn't for choice Satan would not have sinned. If Satan had not sinned there would be no need for a Saviour. If there wasn't a choice, God would not be Holy. But, if there is any other thing: Rom 9:20 "...Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Rom 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay...?" He has created us and offers to us a choice; be with Him for eternity or not. I hope this helps, terrib |

314 | help | 2 Cor 5:17 | terrib | 111936
Welcome dave3467, You say, "i don't want to loose focus", that statement shows that you are willing to follow God. That is really all that Jesus asks us to do. Be willing and then do it. You also say, "i have a lot of garbage to clean up in my life". While it is true that we are still accountable for some of the things we have done in the past and we have to correct the things that we are able but Jesus has cleaned up the garbage in your life. You ARE a NEW CREATURE in Christ. ((2Co 5:17 KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.) All things, ALL THINGS are become new. The slate is clean and in the Father's eyes you are sinless. ((1Jo 2:1 KJV) My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:) Let me put it this way: you have just found the most fantastic girl that you ever saw. You want to date her and so you do. The relationship gets better because all your attention is on her and that is all that you want in your life, being together and enjoying each other’s company. And THE MOST IMPORTANT part of your new relationship with your girlfriend is communication. So it is with God. THE most important thing is communication. Talk with Him daily even minute by minute; Paul says, "pray without ceasing". Praying isn't always down on your knees; it can just be thanking Him for the little things that happen throughout the day. Just a word of acknowledgement out of the mouth, "Thank you Father". Even if you misplace the car keys, "Father, help me find the keys." And He is pleased with the smallest request because it shows your faith. And the other part, our part, is to listen. Listen to Him. The majority of the time He will talk to us through the Scriptures. If there is an idea that you are in conflict with and when you open your Bible to read, all of a sudden, without your being aware that you were directed to a certain Scripture, there is the answer. Not that it is magical just to flip open your Bible and point your finger to a spot on the page but He will guide you to the answer. ((Joh 14:26 KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.) Next, look around your community for a Bible teaching church that exalts Christ and Him crucified. Be active with the other believers. Plus there are innumerable books that can help with your walk but be aware that not all of them have your interest at heart. For now, pray (communicate) and read your Bible. Blessings to you dave3467, May our Father which art in heaven abundantly pour out His Spirit upon you. Some passages in the Scriptures are not easily understood, so I would get a Bible that is written in a language that best conforms to the gifts that God has given you. Plus, the members of this forum will help where they can. There are many learned people here but search your Scriptures first. Searching will strengthen you in the knowledge of God’s Word. Be patient. For ALL that are born must learn to crawl before we can run. terrib |

316 | peters death | John 21:19 | terrib | 111920
Greetings w4mws, Peter: Among many other saints, the blessed apostle Peter was condemned to death, and crucified, as some do write, at Rome; albeit some others, and not without cause, do doubt thereof. Hegesippus saith that Nero sought matter against Peter to put him to death; which, when the people perceived, they entreated Peter with much ado that he would fly the city. Peter, through their importunity at length persuaded, prepared himself to avoid. But, coming to the gate, he saw the Lord Christ come to meet him, to whom he, worshipping, said, "Lord, whither dost Thou go?" To whom He answered and said, "I am come again to be crucified." By this, Peter, perceiving his suffering to be understood, returned into the city. Jerome saith that he was crucified, his head being down and his feet upward, himself so requiring, because he was (he said) unworthy to be crucified after the same form and manner as the Lord was. (Fox's Book of Martyrs) Joh 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. Joh 21:18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. Joh 21:19 This spake he, signifying BY WHAT DEATH HE SHOULD GLORIFY GOD. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. (caps are for emphasis) signifying by what death he should glorify God; for by the above words Christ not only intimated that Peter should die, not a natural, but a violent death, or that he should die a martyr in his cause, but the very kind of death he should die, namely, by crucifixion; and that Peter was crucified at Rome, ecclesiastical history confirms (Eusebius Eccl. Hist. l. 2. c 25.) terrib |

317 | Narrow gate or road first? | Matt 7:14 | terrib | 111918
Greetings BDE, Strait: narrow, close, not broad. When Jesus talked with the people of His time He always related to things they were familiar with. No doubt in Mat 7:14 He was comparing the way to salvation with the gates to a city. Many cities had wide open gates where the main road was broad and many travelers would come and go. And then there were smaller gates that led into the city but they were very narrow and hard to navigate and not often used. The paths that were behind those small gates were also narrow and even hard to turn around in. Compare ((Num 22:26 KJV) And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.) Thus the similitude to entering into the kingdom of God. One must purpose to go through the smaller gate being aware that it would take more effort to travel. The flesh likes the easy way, without restrictions. One must enter the gate first before you can get on the path that leads to salvation. The narrow path only has One Way! terrib |

318 | When can we give our tithes | Ps 22:3 | terrib | 111771
Greetings Mafil, We are not under the letter of the Law of the old ordinances but under grace. (Psa 22:3 KJV) But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Tithing is a form of praise. It would be more pleasing to praise Him 12 times than once. It would be a condition of the heart and the timings of your personal financial plan. Most congregations that I have attended usually have set up a tithing day once a month that is usually announced by the Pastor. Offerings are usually weekly. This follows the orderly conduct for church business mentioned by Paul. You could ask your Pastor which day is tithing day. (1Co 14:40 KJV) Let all things be done decently and in order. terrib |

319 | How "mature" in Christ are we today? | 1 Cor 3:1 | terrib | 111097
Greetings Brother TommyS, You wrote, "And this portion of my life seems to be more desert than anything." Well, you are in Great company! Many of the Lord's greatest works were in that desert place. Consider Moses, the exhortation of Isaiah, our Lord Himself and the children of Israel: Exo 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. Deu 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. Isa 35:1, 2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God. Isa 35:6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Mar 6:31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Joh 6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. These are just a few of times in the desert, for in the desert are few distractions and we can hear better. The desert keeps us lean and ready. Without the desert we become Jeshurun: Deu 32:15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. Bless your desert and keep true, God is doing a work! terrib |

Hello TommyS, Jesus said: Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. A true meaning of this "mansions" could be the word "placements" or "positions". In my Father's house are many places (because of individual gifts that I have bestowed upon My creation and each person is an individual and I will take him into My house and place him where he will best fit). As Paul states: Eph 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. "by that which every joint supplieth" equals what gifts we have. "effectual working in the measure of every part" equals using what God gave us. Our Father knows our rate of growth and He will lead us (not push) to the next level. The disciples ate and drank and lived with God for three years and some of them still didn't know exactly who He was. Don't be hard on yourself and don't do too much self diagnostics for there is one out there that would enjoy in getting us turned inward thus making us to forget our first love. We would call that worshipping the creature more than the Creator. All things have there time and we can not judge ourselves by looking at someone else, because we are all different. Enjoy the day and say "This is the day the Lord hath made, I will be glad and rejoyce in it". Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Don't sweat the small stuff, terrib |
