0123: I am somewhat wondering why use new wineskins? How would using old wineskins over again be a problem? I dont think just plain grape juice would expand in the wine skins, would they? Is this passage that some say it's ok to drink wine? Would just grape juice stored in wineskins ferment? Blessings. justme |

306 | Idols do we have them as Christians? | Not Specified | justme | 233032
I have been thinking about idols, and if we have them today. For some time I have listened to other men and even teenage fellows. What do men and young men both want? A car or a truck! Just look and see how men act when we have got a new vehicle. Watch men and teenagers too, many read all the car magazines to see newest and fastest and greatest vehciles now out to test drive. The new car smell is sure nice, the ride is so smooth. Generally after going into debt for thousands of dollars, we praise getting this super wonderful vehicle, and want others to admire it too. The real truth is the very minute we drive it off the dealers lot the vehicle has depreciated as much as ten to fiften percent. Then the monthly payments that must be paid regardless if you can afford it or not. Generally we are talked into higher payments then we could afford. The insurance, and upkeep are all added into the monthly budget. Now here is where I see that vehicles have become and idol. Just pretend for a minuet, that for some reason we either got sick or something happened where we missed three days pay in a month. How many of us took what we were short and cheated God and used money from the tithe and made up the short pay to make the payment. According to Malachi 3:8-11 we have robbed of what was His. This idol we loved so much took Gods money. I want to ask how many of us look at vehicles as an idol? Are we brain washed into getting a new vehicle ever two or three years because we are convienced that if we keep it we will loose money on trading it in? Is satan taken a useful means of transpertation and enticed us into debt, and caused us to become a slave to the vehicle we drive. How many of us have not learned to be a good stewart of our transpertation? |

ccfromsc: Please don't feel that way. Any topic can go on for a long time. Remember that those early christians debated sometimes for months and most likely tempers flared until the Holy Spirit gave clarity and agreement was reached. The best of us have a tight grip on the theology we adhere to. For instance believers baptism is not done by sprinkling, nor should it be done to infants, that's my belief and I am solid with it. However, does my strict belief mean I don't respect others who do? I respect and understand how and why they they baptise the way they do baptism I don't cause division where different denominations are working for a common cause. I know full well that when we are finally at home with the Lord these issues witll either be settled or we just won't won't care. Just imagine how heaven with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit will be. I doubt anyone has the slightest insight of what heaven will really be like. In heaven just imagine we will all be full of christian love, there will be kindness and we will all agree that Jesus will be the center of our love. Blessings ccfromsc. justme |

G. Preston: Words convey all sorts of meaning, depending how the person receiving then understands them. For instance the word "Oh!!". When I read your note and you satrted out with "Oh!!". At first I thought it might mean that you upset. Then I looked at it closer, it really came across that maybe I had some authority that could remove a disagreeable post. Preston The posts I see that have the ... have been determined by someole else. I do know who. Several years ago a special christian man whom I will never forget was the moderator. He felt that if someone was being diasgreeable or had a embittered attitude he was gentle, but would firmly tell a person to change or leave. His name was Hank, those of us that knew him are blessed. What I am trying to say is I am not sure if you know that you come across to me as being resentful. No one just removes a post/note without a solid reason. In 11 years on this forum I have had maybe two posts removed, and I add after think about it I agreed. No christian is perfect. Because those who run it are unperfect. But most important is that non-christian's get on here too and judge what Jesus Christ is all about by what we post, especially so if we have been here a good length of time, or post a lot. How do I come across? How do you come across? G. Preston, proberly all of us have had a post to us that was like a fish hook in the foot, a real pain to swallow. I know I have made posts that reflected a mood or problem I was dealing with. I have made a good number of apologies to someone who felt offended, or for some reason was upset with what I said. Christ's work starts out wit to love one another. That is very difficult, and I believe Jesus knew it would the toughest thing fort us to do. Some of us, especially me, are hard to love. To love unloveable people takes all love we have. I hope you look at the other side of the coin. The Moderator, who ever they are was trying to use love and respect to remove your post. Over the years I have seen some real goof balls try to upset the apple cart. But take responces with love, kindness and respect. Blessings. justme |

G.Preston: I see that your reponce to me was taken out. So I think you might not have agreed with my post. Frank ly that's ok if you do not agree with what I said. Infact the most important thing is that you read the Bibllllle. For me as long as a person is in regular reading of the Word of God, that's what in more important. The only Bible, or it's what they call a Bible is the New World translation is horrid, evil, and should be destroyed. G. Preston I never mean to ruffle a persons feathers. I was explaining that it is fruitless to debate when the points of each are in cement when dealing with someone who is convienced that the KJV is the only inspired text. When someone believes that no matter how much eveidence there is, it is highly unlikely the KJV person will really look deeply into what is presented. That is my experience, That is what what I was saying. I hope my post does not cause hard feelings. Blessings. justme |

312 | KJV Only Help | Bible general Archive 4 | justme | 232899
ccfromsc: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. The King James only people are most always unmoveable and are determined never to give one inch in their point that all versions and translations are evil except the King James. I have debated, and had evidence that would have changed even King James himself, but over and over the results were the same. A few times some King james fan would not budge and refused to read what I had. I have had some say that some of the translators were homosexual, that non-believers slanted the words to belittle the Son of God. And the old stand by was the greek NT used was corrupted, that the KJV used the right one. In the end I came to the wisdom that the Lord would have me just love them and not to debate or dialogue the issue. It is unfruitful to try to show them their error, they generally just get mad and that is very unlike whar a christian should be or do. Blessings justme |

313 | Sunday Sabbath or not? | Not Specified | justme | 232706
I have been searching for a solid answer about the Sabbath. I have always worshiped on Sunday. But here is something that I am thinking about. Today we believe in every Commandment but Sabbath worship. Why. Now I have always thought worship on Sunday is the same, but it is not. Sabbath is a time of rest, but for me all my life the only real rest might of been a nap. Today we play every sport, or watch them. We shop, go to movies, play golf, cards, just about everything, but little relates to even thinking about God. Here is my concern, question, Is worship on Sunday morning, or evening, if your church has a evening service, really the same as what done before Jesus died? I know some things like no cooking was a man made, but the way most of us do is not a day of rest, but a day off to do as we see fit, after Sunday worship. In my mind something is just not right. Is anyone else thinking like me? just me |

316 | what does the bible say about tatoos? | Lev 19:28 | justme | 232433
Popcorn33: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I have dialogued about tatoo's on another Christian forum a number of times. Almost always the person wanting or actually having a tatoo, the answer "yes it's just fine", comes back with that verse in leviticus is in the old Testament and therefore it does not apply to us today. With that kind of reasoning, then why not say the Ten Commandments do not apply today? I hope you get my point, many Christians don't use the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in seeking wisdom and common sense. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Tells us we have been bought with the price, Jesus bought and paid our sin debt with His Blood and his death and ressurrection. In verse 19 we are told we are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. We often see tatoo's with satanic, deviant, macabre, pornographic, so called art work on non christians, and Christians who had tatoo's before they got saved. Some tatoo's defies the Holy Spirit. When Christians who get tatoo's either do not know or rejects being the temple of the Holy Spirit. Some have said "but its a christian tatoo. The Lord clearly left no exceptiom in Leviticus 19:28. I knew of a young man who had the symbol of the German Army in WW2 tatooed on the top of his head. He always shaved his head. After be surrendered to Christ he always wore his hair long enough to hide the tatoo. In closeing tatoos are wrong to have. A person should keep them covered or if he or she can afford to have it removed that would be the better option. lusyme |

317 | Does the Bible forbid one to swear upon | Matt 5:33 | justme | 232385
Karen418: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum, I wish it were for less serious conditions. The Bible Study Forum is not intended for counseling. However I will assist you with Scripture to answer your request. Matthew 5:33-37 is the verses on vows and taking oath's. The very odd thing is the Scripture you really need is just before this one. Matthew 5:31-32 is on divorce. Matthew 19:1-12 is also verse's on divorce. It seems there is game playing going on, when your husband allows you to take such a vow but for him it's too sacred. Unless you and your husband get into some Christian Counseling and get a hold on the hardness of heart this is going to be a rough road ahead for you both. May I suggest the pastor of the church you go to. You can call and see the pastor first to see is he is willing to help. Many people have endured unfaithfulness, and many seemingly no hope of any kind, and with the Lords help have been restored to a happy marriage. Matthew 19:26 assures with God nothing is impossible. Blessings. justme |

318 | Should I vote in a election? | Titus 3:1 | justme | 232376
shoeplumb: Welcome to theStudy Bible Forum. If you vote or do not vote you need yo be convicted by Scripture which to do. Amish, and some other religious denominations feel it is wrong for them to vote. I am a totally disabled Veteran, and I have earned my voting rights the very hard way. I would no more forget about voting as I do about breathing. However I respect the view of someone not to vote because they feel as a Christian they should not. I do not think being harsh on the subjecthelps anyone. justme |

320 | Tattoos | Leviticus | justme | 232206
jwmx925: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. The OT has some verses that some say don't apply to us today. I think Leviticus 19:28Is in a section of Scripture that laws that are there for our own best good. Why would we think this verse does not apply to us today? The verse is not for our salvation, but for sorta of metamorphosis in our desire to fully commit outwardly to Christ. This of course brings the question of what does someone with tattoo's that are nasty or clearly not something a christian would not want exposed, do? Perhaps keep then covered, or more drasticly have them removed. I think even a christian Tattoo goes against the core of Leviticus 19:28. We do not ignore the ten Commandments because they are in the Old Testament, and neither should we ignore the verse in Leviticus. Sadly there are those who are Christians that have no tattoo's who go and get them. This gets down to what gives God glory? I beleieve not having a tattoo gives God the best glory. Circumcision was an act of obedience and sign of the Covenant. Today we have a sign circumcised heart Romans 2:29, Colossians 2:11. Today physucal circumcision of males is not for a mark of salvation, but by personal choice of the parents. There are some religions (Jews for one) who still preform circumcision as an essential of salvation. Blessings. justme |
