302 | Serious "option" for believers! | Ephesians | CDBJ | 194542
Hello Michael, Grieving the Spirit and quenching the Spirit are two sides of the same coin. Ephes. 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 1 Thes. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. We, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, all have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit but that doesn’t insure us that He is always in control. Even as a new creation “in” Christ, with a new nature, we still have an old sin nature residing in our bodies. When we give in to the dictates of our old sin nature, and sin as a result, the Holy Spirit is not filling us in our new nature’s spiritual walk; thus the need to be filled with the Spirit; He resides always but He doesn’t always fill. Ephes. 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; The exercise of 1 John 1:9 accomplishes this task and causes the believer to function under God’s perfect protocol. Any believer at any moment of time is either filled with the Spirit or they are out of fellowship and under the control of their old sin nature and they need to “constantly” use 1 John 1:9. God is “always faithful” and He will do the same thing every time “IF” we will name our sins to Him. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. It is “possible” for one to be in and out of fellowship, or filled with the Spirit, hundreds of times a day! One is indwelt but once for always and that at the point of faith in Jesus at salvation by the grace of God. CDBJ |

303 | Are there any true prophets/prophetss' t | Eph 4:11 | CDBJ | 194541
Hi Tim, "Cessationism" always comes under attack by those that reside in the camp of "continuationism". I reside in the understanding of the former and I think the charismatic gifts ceased along with the gift of apostleship. 1 Cor. 13:8-10 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. The way I see it, it would be a very mute point if, “that which is perfect” were referring to Christ and His return. On top of that, the word perfect, in the Koine Greek, is in the nominative case, neuter gender, singular of TELEION and if it were a reference to Christ it would be in the masculine gender. The written Word of God on the other hand, fits being in the neuter gender and it fits perfectly as the “completed” Cannon of Scripture after John finished Revelation. When John died, no more apostles and no more need for certain gifts; i.e. we have God’s complete book for mankind, the Bible in it’s entirety. Let just agree to disagree, as it were, CDBJ |

Good Question, All believers have been commanded the following. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If believers haven’t done this they are in hot water already! CDBJ |

307 | Are there any true prophets/prophetss' t | Eph 4:11 | CDBJ | 194498
Greetings, By what do we measure a prophet, if they are right or wrong? 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: What need have we of a prophet if we have God’s Word? If one doesn’t have God’s Word in his language he would be better off with a translator then a prophet. CDBJ |

Hi Cheri, Here is something that one might want to consider before they assume they are a prophet. Ezekiel 14:9-10 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. 10And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him; Check out Duet. 13: -- as well. Hi Brad, I agree with you conclusion. How can one distinguish between what is truth and what is false unless it coincides with known Scripture; thus why the need for “prophets”? The Bible clearly tells us that there “will be” false prophets. Matthew 7:15 (KJV) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 24:11 (KJV) And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:24 (KJV) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Mark 13:22 (KJV) For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. Luke 6:26 (KJV) Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. 2 Peter 2:1 (KJV) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 1 John 4:1 (KJV) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. The way I see it; why are prophets of truth needed since we have the completed Cannon of Scripture and it’s the work of the Holy Spirit that reveals this truth! CDBJ |

Hi Starfire, I don’t thank that is as confusing as, “2 Is 14:12 "How you have fallen from heaven,” Just kidding, I knew you meant Isaiah 14:12. The word for son in the Hebrew is, BEN, pronounced bane. Does this translation help? Isaiah 14:12 (NASB) "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! I read it as “Morning” and “Dawn” and it makes it clear to me, angles being the son’s of God. CDBJ |

315 | Christians living together outside of ma | 1 Corinthians | CDBJ | 194082
Greetings, I’ll say one thing for sure, if your offspring is of legal age and out from under your roof, you sure have more nerve then I do. Matthew 7:2 (KJV) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. If, as you say, they are true Christians God is able to take care of the situation and He sure know where to hit where it hurt! Hebrews 12:6-11 (NASB) FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." 7It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, that we may share His holiness. 11All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness. Many times we mean well when we point the finger at some, whose sins are “appalling to us” but what it boils down to is the fact that we “all”, even as born again believers, still have a old sin nature; we just think our sin are more refined then others. Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Have a nice day, CDBJ |

Hello AMALBP, After rereading my own post, you are right that did sound sarcastic and I apologize. Now if you will, please let me back up and try again. You made the following statement in the first sentence of your post, i.e #193399 “Satan can read your thoughts.” Could you please confirm this confusing statement with chapter and verse? I have never been aware that Satan had this ability. CDBJ |
