2881 | Not apprecatied for what I do., only God | Acts 2:36 | EdB | 27834
Forgive me for being blunt but if your doing it for God you shouldn’t be looking for human recognition. God is fully aware of what is going on and has rewards awaiting you in heaven. If you want human recognition then your not doing it for God but rather for the praises of man and that is all you will get. That said I think many times people are taken for granted in the church and that is wrong, we all need to be more considerate of each other. However as I said above God sees this and He will make it up to you. EdB |

2882 | How should we celebrate real Christmas? | Gal 4:10 | EdB | 27191
julius firt there wasn't thre wise men we don't know how many there was. It was some number between two and thousands. The best way to celebrate Christmas is the same way we celebrate any other birthday by honoring the person, in this case Jesus. What do we do? We shower them with love and attention that is what we need to do on Christmas. Shower Jesus with love by honoring him and giving Him attention by spending time in prayer and Bible reading. EdB |

2883 | Is Joyce Myers right or wrong? | 1 Pet 3:19 | EdB | 27099
Joyce Meyer and many like her have bought into this false teaching that Jesus had to go to hell to pay for our sins. First Hell is not a place of payment it is a place of waiting for non believers until the Great White Throne of Judgememt. Secondly it was his blood poured out that signed sealed and delivered the new Covenant. From the cross Jesus declared it was finished. Thirdly the book of Hebrews 9:12-14 tells us Jesus was busy offering His blood on the altar in Heaven. Eph 4:8 tells us Jesus went to paradise (Abraham's bosom you can read more on Abraham's bosom in Luke 16:19-31) and lead the captivity captive to heaven. Teaching Jesus went to Hell to be tormented for three days is false teaching by deceived teachers. EdB |

2884 | Was Paul Eloquent? | Ex 4:10 | EdB | 27074
I think many think Paul was not eloquent in his speech from remarks he made in 1 Cor. 2:1 "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God." Also as someone pointed out Peter remarked how hard Paul was to understand at times. However whether Paul was or was not eloquent does not excuse the speaker today from proper preparation and from constantly striving to improve. Many speakers today do a lousy job and then say oh well Paul wasn't any good either. This is not a valid excuse for a lousy job. We are to give God our best! EdB |

2885 | Are Christmas and Easter pagan? | Gal 4:10 | EdB | 27043
In answer to your question, yes they may have Pagan origins as far as the dates, however the meaning is strictly Christian and should be considered Christian Holidays. An analogy of this would be a gun used in the murder that is later melted down and the metal used to make a heart and lung machine. Could we say the heart lung machine was made out of a murder weapon? Yes, but does it make the heart and lung machine bad? No! The meaning of Christmas for true Christians is clearly a day set aside to honor the birth of our savior. Or I have seen it put the day our Lord laid down the glory of heaven and stepped from the womb of a virgin to dwell amongst man. The meaning of Easter is even more significant it is a day set aside to honor the fact Christ did exactly as He said He would, He arose and proved once and for all His power and His might and most of all His word. If the days are remembered for their meaning in relation to Christ who cares they happen to fall on days that once were pagan holidays. EdB |

2886 | Is paradise hell? | Ephesians | EdB | 26710
Steve Read what I said, the word we translate hell meant holding place for the dead. Again it was divided into two sections one hot and dry the other paradise (Abraham's bosom) Luke 16 19-31. In a sense yes Abraham's bosom was hell. However remember the meaning of hell has since changed since the only ones there now are the ones that rejected Jesus. |

2888 | Have you tried e-Sword? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 25800
Charis I use both Wordsearch from IExalt and Nelson/Logos from Logos, both of which I have loaded on to my hard drive so I do not have the Cd-rom problem. I find Wordsearch to be easier to use. I especially like the audio pronunciation feature for Biblical names found in scripture and of the Greek and Hebrew words within the Strong’s concordance. From all the literature Logos has sent me on Logos X I think it may have corrected everything I found hard to use. Still missing is the audio pronunciation but that may be solved within a short time since Logos has just announced a audio pronunciation for an English dictionary. That tells me they have the audio technology is just needs to be extended to bible names and greek/hebrew words. I have MAJOR investments in both programs and I need to concentrate on one or the other. I have not tried eSword. My hope is one day to have my whole library on disk where I can search by terms/words. EdB |

2889 | Genesis 3:1-7 | Genesis | EdB | 25798
Paulfromnys You state an interesting hypothesis based on your ideas or assumptions for interpreting Scripture and then you asked for Scripture to disprove it. Sir the burden of proof is not for scripture but for you. An example of what you have done would be like saying, “Man in the Garden of Eden used rockets to fly to the moon. Now show me scripture to prove me wrong.” Since what was said never happened there would be no scripture to refute it. You have made a case, but to validate it you need to show us other places where the word “fruit” was used instead of the word “fornication.” Or show us anywhere else in the Bible where the word “serpent” was used for “man” or “beast” for “man”. Without these you have a baseless hypothesis and nothing more. EdB |

2890 | Salvation for people not knowing the Lor | John 14:6 | EdB | 25794
While I would never be so bold to say what God will and will not do, the answer to your question based on Jesus’ comment (stated below) is apparently not. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Jesus clearly said no one will come to the Father except through Him. At first blush this appears to be unfair, but that is human reasoning with human knowledge. God is declared “Just” so we know God has a ‘just’ solution for this seemingly ‘unjust’ situation. EdB |

2896 | Babylon's inner gates that formed the ha | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 25267
To the best of my knowledge Babylon does not have a harbor. It is land locked although on a river. The wall around Babylon was built over the river and there was obviously a some kind of structure to accomplish this. Is that what your talking about? Since the river disected the city and there is strong indications of ferry boats there would be docks built along the river is this what your referring to?
