281 | Happy Father's Day | Deut 4:37 | azurelaw | 216790
Thanks for the quotes. Father's day also bring to mind the below hymn by Maltbie D. Babcock This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought. This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise. This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass; He speaks to me everywhere. This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done: Jesus Who died shall be satisfied, And earth and Heav’n be one. This is my Father’s world, dreaming, I see His face. I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise cry, “The Lord is in this place.” This is my Father’s world, from the shining courts above, The Beloved One, His Only Son, Came—a pledge of deathless love. This is my Father’s world, should my heart be ever sad? The lord is King—let the heavens ring. God reigns—let the earth be glad. This is my Father’s world. Now closer to Heaven bound, For dear to God is the earth Christ trod. No place but is holy ground. This is my Father’s world. I walk a desert lone. In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze God makes His glory known. This is my Father’s world, a wanderer I may roam Whate’er my lot, it matters not, My heart is still at home. **** Shalom Azure |

282 | How do you know when GOD is talking to y | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 216707
Dear John and all, I think all of you have answered well. I would also like to add that even we get to the Word, we have to be cautious not to take a verse or two out of its context to support our feelings or thoughts. Such doing is as dangerous as following something so-call "quiet voice". All in all, we must be diligently and rightly handle the Word to build up sound doctrines and meditate God's precepts in our daily life......Well, I think I am repeating what you have said or have in mind :-) Shalom Azure |

285 | and you will be like God | Gen 3:5 | azurelaw | 216572
Bernard of Clairvaux asked, "Since we read that a fall so dreadful took place in Paradise, what shall we do on the dunghill?" Amen, Doc. Sadly that most Christians (include me) are so ignorant about it in such a so-call peaceful world. I remember the book (by Neil Postmans) title "Amusing ourselves to death". We are so much alike the apostles who fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus urged "keep watching and pray..."(Mat 26:41) Shalom Azure |

287 | Bring my Bones back | Gen 50:25 | azurelaw | 216517
Dear Grace, Hi, again. In addition, God's blessings and love to those who love Him will be extended to his children. Read the 2nd commandment in Deut 5:9-10. I think there are some more verses about God's abundant blessings to those faithful and their children can be found in Psalm. However, we have to be mindful that we (or our children) should stay humble and faithful to our Lord. Read Roman chapter 11. Shalom Azure |

288 | Bring my Bones back | Gen 50:25 | azurelaw | 216516
Dear Grace, You are welcome. You may call me Azure which is my name :-). As far as I understand the verse, that is only the last will of Joseph's before he died. Of course, I also believe God makes use of it as a reminder to the Israelite of their origin (the Chosen nation) not to be satisfied with their lives in Egypt as it was not their destination. I am sorry that I do not agree with your preacher's interpretation and application on the verse and I don't find any scriptural support on his notion. Shalom Azure |

Dear Brother John, Thank you for the kind words. Yes, we should be mindful of our own heart. May the Lord have mercy on us and continuously shine into the darkest corner of our heart so that we may repent and bear fruit for His glory. Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Matt 6:22 "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. Matt 6:23 "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! Shalom Azure |

295 | "the two" and "one new man" refer to ? | Eph 2:15 | azurelaw | 216192
Dear John, Doc and Searcher, Thank you all for confirming my understanding :-) My uncertainty (and confusion) could be caused by the slight difference of "the two" and the related verses translated in my Chinese Bible. Shalom Azure |

296 | "the two" and "one new man" refer to? | Eph 2:15 | azurelaw | 216187
Does "the two" here refer to "both groups (the Jews and gentiles)" in v14? If so, what does "into one NEW MAN" mean? Does it refer to the true church (the body of Christ)? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

298 | Should christians sing secular songs | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 216077
Dear Brother Doc, I think it would be a good choice to sing this: By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother's womb; My praise is continually of You. (Psalm 71:6) on birthdays in replacement of "Happy Birthday". :-) However, I know not of such hymn composed :-( Shalom Azure |

Dear FTK, You say: The Bible can be read to find tribulation, pain and suffering (for the non believing).... Do you mean that tribulation, affliction, pain, suffering are for non believing only while a believer will never expereince them? Are you saying there is no teaching of pain and suffering in the Bible for believers? Did you read the book of Job? What about Roman 8:16-25? Rom 9:1-3? 1 Cor 4:11-13? 2 Cor 7:8-11? Shalom Azure |
