221 | Who are "the least of these?" | Matt 25:40 | azurelaw | 219384
Dear YenlsaRap, Thank you for the clear exposition. In addition to what you have nicely put, I agree the "brethrens" refer to Christians as it is also clearly addressed by Jesus in Matthew 12:48-50. Thanks again for sharing with us. Shalom Azure |

222 | Gos Can Speak! | 1 Cor 12:3 | azurelaw | 219284
Dear teacher..., I don't quite get your point, sir. Of course God can speak and idols can't! The verse 1 Cor 12:3 you quote made a contrast between the true conversion to Christ (only by the Holy Spirit that one can say Jesus is Lord) and the denial of Christ (one that was without the Holy Spirit's work in him/her and claimed that Jesus is accursed). So, the point is not whether God can speak, but how God speaks and how He validates the converted to profess their faith. Could you please elaborate further? Thank you. Shalom Azure |

224 | Is NASB better than other translations? | 2 Tim 2:15 | azurelaw | 219225
Doc, "pulling my leg" We do have a similar term in Chinese, but is somewhat different in terms of both expression and meaning..."pulling one's hind leg" (meaning to find fault of someone). Literally, funny though it looks like that man has fore leg and hind leg like beasts :-) I believe, in fact, it refers to the movement/action of walking - while a step forward thus leaving the other leg at the back. Idioms are interesting :-) Shalom Azure |

227 | "him" refers to which one? | Mark 9:42 | azurelaw | 219179
Thanks, John, for the response. What I've heard in the past rendering the same meaning as yours that "the person" who causes other (even the little one) stumble, it would be better for "the person" to be cast into the sea. However, recently, I've heard another explanation that "him" refers to the stumbled little one for it is a contrasting statement that the stumbling in faith is worse than casting him into the sea/killing him physically. Or, in another sense, if I caused you stumble, it is similar to that I killed you (castng you into the sea). Grammatically, how do you think the English version support the ideas? The context seems both explanation are possible. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

228 | "him" refers to which one? | Mark 9:42 | azurelaw | 219174
"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea...." "him" refers to "one of these little ones" or "whoever"? I've heard both explanations. But which should be correct according to the kione Greek grammar? Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

229 | "a" or "the"? | Dan 7:13 | azurelaw | 219121
Dear CDBJ and Tim, Hmmm...bad for me...I've already found it hard to grasp the grammatcal rule of English, now...it involves both Greek and Hebrew :-( Please bear with me - this little Chinese woman. Well, my point for asking the question, when the phrase use the indefinite article "a", does it attribute to the implication that there is more than one "Son of Man" for (as far as I could understand) it usually mean the ONLY/SPECIFIC one when "the" (definite article) is used. So, in this case, what does Daniel's message convey in the sense of the Only Son of Man? Thanks again for your help. Shalom Azure |

230 | What does this dream mean? | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 219099
Dear humbleheart, Please do calm down, sir. I can understand that when our experience (which seems so real to us) is being challenged, it would be very annoying. However, please bear in mind that no matter how real our experiences are, it does not necessarily mean that they are "truth". Do you remember how Eve was deceived? In her experience, everything seemed so real - the fruit so delightful and good for food, God is so wise who knows good and evil (Gen 3) - thus, His Word was ignored. If you think / "feel" others judged you wrongly, show sarcasm or belittle you, why do you do the same to Doc (who only made one answer to justme not you). By the way, I believe it would be much wiser and noble to stand up for anyone who "need" help instead of "wanting" help. (Exodus 23:3, 6) What's wrong with "properly and correctly" using scripture to teach, reproof and correct (2 Tim 3:16) when there appear something in doubt or problematic on a public Bible study forum? Peace be with you. Azure |

Dear Brad, Thank you very much for the helpful and succinct answer. Yes, context is king. By the way, do you know of any other scriptures that are commonly used by the universalists to support their view? Thanks and shalom Azure |

233 | Bless this house | Ps 112:1 | azurelaw | 218755
Psalm 112:1-3 Dear forum friends and siblings in Christ, Today is the Mid Autumn Festival where the moon rises in its fullness and symbolizes perfect harmony. Chinese families gather together for dinner (just like your Thanksgiving) in hoping for a close, loving bond of all family members. May I also take this opportunity to wish you all be blessed and your houses and families also be blessings to many. May He restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers (Mal 4:6) that His name be glorified forever. Shalom Azure |

234 | no more animal sacrifice | Heb 8:13 | azurelaw | 218718
Dear Yen, Differing with others should be done in a gracious manner and biblically based. In the case of Edd's post, I hold the same view as Brad's that it conveyed a sense of sarcasm (though it might was not be Edd's intent) which should not be encouraged on the forum. Prov 12:18 Shalom Azure |

Thank you, flinky, for your reply. But from your statement "If you don't like strip clubs, don't go." it just gives me the message that "he may go if he likes it". So, I cannot associate the thought about anti-strip-clubbing. This could be quite off the topic. I think I will come back to you later as I have to go. Shalom Azure |

Dear humility, As far as I have read your past posts, you have been behaving friendly. I don't see the reason why you made such an ad hominem attack on AWilliamson only because he is providing scriptural answer to you and demonstrating the correct way in interpreting scripture. Please consider your post is in violation of the TOU of the forum. If you are not behaving lovingly with brothers and sisters on the forum in TRUTH, how are you going to witness Christ at your workplace? Shalom Azure |
