281 | when did theologians understand 7's? | 2 Tim 2:15 | BradK | 222721
Hello vncnt blzn, Interesting question, my friend. Just so I understand, can you clarify what exactly is "the biblical concept of the number seven"? I'm not aware it's even a significant doctrine! Two things in response: 1. Who is this teacher friend of yours and where are they getting their information? No, Orthodox Evangelical theologian is following anything of "her lead"; 2. I assure you, Helena Blavatsky did not "discover" the biblical concept of sevens- whatever that means! The only thing she ultimately discovered, was that there is a God and there is a payment due for the wages of sin! (Rom. 6:23); Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

282 | Can a Christian go to Night Clubs | James 4:17 | BradK | 222668
Hello DwigLn, Welcome to the Forum! In answer to your question, "Can a Christian go to Night Clubs": Yes, they can. However, the better question to ask is: Should a Christian go to Night Clubs? I think the answer is self-evident to a Believer. Much could be pulled from Scripture to answer against this, but the overall guiding principle is found in James 4:17, "Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." (NASB) Here's a few more questions to consider: Would you honor the Lord Jesus Christ by this activity? Why would a Christian WANT to go to "Night Clubs" and WHAT purpose would there be for doing so? John warns us to not love the world in 1 John 2:16-16, "Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." (NASB) Hopefully this will help in answering your question:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

283 | How was salvation seen in OT? | Heb 11:1 | BradK | 222572
Hello Diomede, Certainly salvation for Israel was connected to deliverance from circumstances- like David describes- or from enemies like Pharoah and the Egyptians- "But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever." (NASB Ex. 14:13ff) Yet, the OT saints were saved just as you and I are: by grace through faith! Note the plenty of examples in Hebrews 11- all, "by faith". The whole point was to show the 1st century Jew that his salvation rested upon faith alone! Heb. 11:13 tells us, "All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth." (NASB) As the Lord observes in John 8:56, "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." How did he see it? By faith! I hope this helps, BradK |

286 | Is plygamy right in God's eyes? | Eph 5:25 | BradK | 222428
Hello AKG-pa, We can look at Eph. 5 for an example of marriage: Eph 5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. Eph 5:22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. (NASB) Polygamy is neither taught nor supported from scripture. His assertion about 1 Tim. 3:2, 12 is simply wrong! He's only making an assertion without any proof! When one is not in a right relationship with God, they can attempt to justify almost any behavior. I wouldn't worry too much about this man except to pray for him! Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

Matt 7:18 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit." 291 | a christian can fall from grace | Heb 7:25 | BradK | 222292
Hello Landers, Welcome to the Forum. While I don't agree, might I ask, what is YOUR definition of "fall from grace" and what scriptural support do you offer? Personal opinions don't count for much unless they can be shown to be in line with what the Word of God teaches:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

292 | Who can stop your blessing | Eph 1:3 | BradK | 222274
Hello mbeasley, Welcome to the Forum. In answer to your question: Strictly speaking, no! Part may depend on how and what you define as "the blessing"? Remember, for the believer, Eph. 1:3 tells us, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ," (NASB) Not some, most, or that any are to be taken away. But, God HAS blessed us with every spiritual blessing... Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

293 | Praying for patience | Phil 4:6 | BradK | 222267
Hello Weslena, One of the best- and my favorite- passages on praying for patience can be found in Phil. 4:6-7 Phil 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Phil 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (NASB) Paul instructs us on 3 things here: 1. what not to do: be anxious about anything- which carries the idea of concern or worry. These are the opposite of being patient. 2. He then tells us: what to do- "but in everything let your requests be made known to God". 3. Finally, he tells us why: (that) the peace of God which surpasses knowledge will guard your (our) hearts and minds- in Christ Jesus"! I hope this helps, BradK |

299 | why do the good hurt more than the bad? | Rom 3:10 | BradK | 222227
Hello rizz and welcome to the Forum. Time won't allow me to fully answer your questions. Volumes could (and have) been written on this. The Dollar-fifty term to describe this is called "Theodicy"- which attempts to explain the existence of evil. In short, we are fallen creatures as a result of sin. Rom 3:10-12 says "as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; Rom 3:11 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; Rom 3:12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." (NASB) Also, consider Rom. 9:20-22- Rom 9:20 On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Rom 9:21 Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? Rom 9:22 What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? We all deserve hell and the fact that God shows His mercy to any, is in itself a huge Blessing! He is indeed gracious, loving and merciful and just! While evil does not come from God, He allows it to bring glory to Himself. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

300 | Holy Spirit evidence | Gal 5:16 | BradK | 222219
Hello MsDeezy, In answer to your question, Yes. All believers receive the Spirit upon conversion ( 1 Cor. 12:13) Here are a couple of verses to back this: 1. Eph 1:13 "In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise," (NASB) So, the believer is sealed in Him. 2. Col. 2:6 "Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him," (NASB) How did we "receive Him"? By faith. So, we are to walk by faith in Him! While there is disagreement on the gifts, tongues in and of itself has nothing to do with living a "spirit-filled" life! We walk by faith, not sight! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
