2681 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | srbaegon | 23705
But as Tim has already stated with reference to 1 John 2:22, if someone denies the person of Jesus Christ (i.e. who He is in His entirety) that one is a liar and is of antichrist. Basically, Tim and I are saying the same things. Baha'i and it's followers are wrong. Steve |

2682 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | srbaegon | 23703
Real life example........................... My wife was in Rainbow. She can tell you from first-hand experience, it has nothing to do with Christ except to borrow a name. Steve |
||||||
2683 | Who is Jesus? | Matt 24:28 | srbaegon | 23701
I suppose you are technically correct. Tim probably should have said that the ultimate test of "the spirit of antichrist" (not "cult") is saying who Jesus is (1 John 4:1-3). Steve |

2684 | What was the prodigal son greedy | Luke | srbaegon | 23691
Response.................................... Based on the way Christ painted him (impatient and wasteful), I would say yes. Steve |
||||||
2685 | commentary on first and seconCorinthians | 1 Corinthians | srbaegon | 23667
Summary........................... A quick summary would be "Body life of the local church". The issues raised and answered are those of the local body of believers as they live and worship with one another. Steve |

2686 | Please help me to find this out for this | Luke 1:27 | srbaegon | 23559
Implicit meanings.............................. You said: "Again you have a greek word "heos" (until) that does not necessarily mean that after a certain point in time, a different action occurred. See Matt 1:25, 1 Cor 15:25." I disagree. The word "until" specifies a condition that was or will be met. When that condition is satisfied, there is an implicit change in action, status, relation, etc. If I say, "I did not have sexual relations with my wife until we married," must I explicitly state that we did after we married? No, because this is a normal action among married couples. It is inferred or implicit in the statement. No less is true of Joseph and Mary. It would be unbelievable to think that nothing happened between them throughout their marriage. Steve |

2687 | what is up with eternity | 2 Peter | srbaegon | 22523
Partial agreement....................... Greetings! God is eternal and timeless. Absolutely. I disagree with your statement that time is a manmade concept. It was God who established the cycle of "day" and "week" in Gen 1. It's true we benefit from these cycles, and God uses them to help us in reference to Himself. Steve |

2688 | why is baptism important | 2 Cor 5:17 | srbaegon | 22506
Information request........................... Could you cite your source for saying that there is this time period between death and the action of the will? I know this to be a common practice today, but I was curious where you found it to be true in Jesus' day. Thanks. Steve |

2689 | What about the Silent Prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 22215
Explanation................................... What you say is true, but if I was standing before my superior being asked what the problem was, I would not even consider interrupting by praying to God aloud then answering the question. Steve |

2690 | Not mixed Spirits | 1 Peter | srbaegon | 21927
Alternate view................................... Actually, I agree with Casiv's basic premise--that these "sons of God" were fallen angels. I think the comparison against the "daughters of men" lends credence to this. The difficulty, which you have brought up, is that they would have to put on flesh and somehow propagate. One explanation I heard recently was that these were men who were possessed by the evil spirits and their physical make-up was somehow altered enough to allow birth to these giants. Steve |

2691 | Is is right to call money a seed? | NT general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21925
Correction................................. Casiv, If I may correct something here. It's the *love* of money that is a root of evil. 1 Tim 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Steve |

2692 | A "worse place" in hell for greater sin? | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21913
Contrary view................................. I read "A Divine Revelation of Hell" and was disturbed by how unbiblical it was. The ultimate was at the end of the book where the Lord Jesus purports to leave the author alone for a time to suffer the torments of hell. That directly contradicts Scripture. Steve |

2693 | Sabbath | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21810
Question................. I did not realize there was a difference between Hebrew and Roman calendars. Could you explain it for me? Steve |

2694 | What about the Silent Prayer II | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21807
Response................................... My previous post gave what I thought to be a scriptural application of silent prayer. And as you've stated--prayer is communication. Remember, though, that we are communicating with the One who knows the thoughts and intentions of the heart. I agree that verbal prayer helps me in my concentration, but I cannot prove from the Bible that verbal is the only correct way. Steve |

2695 | Receive Spirit with salvation or later? | Acts 2:38 | srbaegon | 21799
Response................................. The Holy Spirit is given when we believe (Eph 1:13-14). The confusion comes because Jesus was speaking at a time when the Holy Spirit did not automatically come to the righteous. Steve |
||||||
2696 | What about the Silent Prayer | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 21793
Response................. Others on this forum may disagree, but I believe there are appropriate uses for silent prayer. I give for example Nehemiah, where he stood before the king and offered up (as I see it) a short, silent prayer before continuing. Neh 2:4-5 Then the king said to me, "What would you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven. I said to the king, "If it please the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it." Steve |

2697 | Female pastor? Attending wrong? | 1 Timothy | srbaegon | 21723
Search....................................... Do a quick search for "woman pastor" or "female pastor" or some other variation and you'll get several posts. My response: I see a difference between the gift and the administrative role. A woman can have a gift for shepherding others, but in no circumstance should she be in spiritual leadership of a local church. Steve |

2698 | The Blessing of Our Present Protection! | 1 Pet 1:5 | srbaegon | 21704
I'm reminded of Psalm 91, especially the last verses. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation." Steve |

2699 | How many songs and proverbs did Solomon | 1 Kin 4:32 | srbaegon | 21701
Answer................... I believe this verse covers it. Steve |

2700 | Witnessing: What is your style? | John 1:7 | srbaegon | 21693
Method shift................................. For a long time, my method has been the direct way, which was the only one I knew being saved in a Baptist church. However, I was disturbed by the abundance or "professors" instead of "possessors". Recently, I was taught a more low-key, friendship method of reading the Bible together and letting God's word do all the work. I haven't had opportunity to use it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
