Hello ThomasTheNonDoubter! Twice today, you have mentioned that blood can only be created by the seed from the father. This is new to me, and I was wondering if you could supply where that is documented or how you came across it. Thanks! Steve |

2663 | Blood covenant:What's in it for us? | Ephesians | srbaegon | 26266
Hello ThomasTheNonDoubter! I'm not sure Lockman Foundation has enough disk space to properly answer this question. Reading Ephesians 1-3 would give a good start. Is there something more specific you were interested in? Steve |

2664 | Why Aaron? | Ex 28:1 | srbaegon | 26254
Hello prayon! Nolan gave a good answer. I would add that it demonstrates God's mercy and gives a great assurance in allowing us to exercise our priesthood even with all our shortcomings. Steve |

2665 | what sabbath does it refer to? | Col 2:16 | srbaegon | 25819
Your words condemn you, sir. According to this posting and the previous, you say we would be saved by the sacrifices. This is not the case at all. In all of Scripture righteousness is accounted to us on the basis of faith (Gen 15:6; Rom 4:1-8). If the sacrifices could save, we would not need Christ. Your idea of "works righteousness" fails miserably. Steve |

2666 | what sabbath does it refer to? | Col 2:16 | srbaegon | 25797
I'm puzzled. It appears you are saying that the ceremonial law is against us because the only way to be saved is to follow it. Is that correct? Steve |
||||||
2667 | what sabbath does it refer to? | Col 2:16 | srbaegon | 25713
Another view................................ The "handwriting of ordinances that was against us" could not refer to the "sacrificial ceremonial law." It was that part of the Law which the faithful relied on to give atonement for the sins and trespasses committed. The ordinances against us were the original 10 which could never be kept perfectly and pointed out our sin. Steve |

2668 | Compare the annointings of Jesus? | NT general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 25699
Good afternoon! To answer your questions: Yes, the gospel writers were using polite terms for prostitution. The woman could have been anybody. We just do not know. I'm not sure one can say Mary followed the example, but rather that they both had the same great idea. As a side note, a comparison of the two anointings is an interesting study. Both hosted by Simon--one an outcast, the other a dignitary. At the Pharisee's house one went away righteous. At the leper's house, one went away condemned. Comparisons of the places Jesus was anointed--head and feet. Responses by the attendees of the action. Great stuff! Steve |

2669 | Genesis 3:1-7 | Genesis | srbaegon | 25681
It seems very unlikely that illicit sexual relations are in view. Scripture is "up front" about such relations using "lay with" in later chapters of Genesis, so to cloud it in such symbolic language would not make sense. Steve |

2670 | what sabbath does it refer to? | Col 2:16 | srbaegon | 25644
Thanks. I checked the references and found no reference to fasting during the Feast of Trumpets. However, there is a connection of fasting to the Day of Atonement in Acts 27:9 (see NASB marginal note). I can see that, since the people were required to humble their souls. So, my follow-up question is: Why did you call Day of Atonement a feast day? Or did I misunderstand what you said? Steve |
||||||
2671 | what sabbath does it refer to? | Col 2:16 | srbaegon | 25521
Question................................... Could you share where you found that Day of Atonement and Feast of Trumpets were fasting days? Steve |

2672 | Alter Calls? | Rom 10:9 | srbaegon | 25303
No offense taken................................. Ed, I was just sharing something I learned recently that was applicable. I've heard the same things you have for years. I'm just trying to be accurate and share what I've found with others. :-) Steve |

2673 | Alter Calls? | Rom 10:9 | srbaegon | 25283
Heart....................................... Ed, I was just taught recently that in Jewish thought the heart is the seat of the will and the bowels are the seat of the emotions. Therefore, emotions may accompany belief and obedience but are not a necessary element. Steve |

2675 | About the Forum | Bible general Archive 1 | srbaegon | 24674
About the Forum.................................. The following is quoted from "About the Forum" on the left sidebar. What is StudyBibleForum.com? It's a free resource in an open access environment for all users to ask questions, give answers, and experience spiritual growth as a result. For the layman, it's a 24-hour source of evolving Bible study notes with which to contrast and compare. For the teacher and scholar, it's an opportunity to freely share your knowledge. The StudyBibleForum.com is built from the "Bible" up. A synergetic resource built to enhance and deepen your study of God's Word. It's like a free study Bible with an unlimited margin, that contained helpful verse notes, and was continually expanding. A resource where you can access and/or contribute to a dynamic repository of verse notes. It's not a discussion group or topical survey, but an ever growing "expository repository" that gives the layman and scholar an opportunity to share truth and contribute wisdom. -------- So, my interpretation of this is that we share our knowledge of Scripture, keep our opinions to a minimum, and agree to disagree agreeably. Steve |

2677 | Isn't Prophecy a Spiritual Gift? | Isaiah | srbaegon | 24387
Rebuttal..................................... Casiv, Jesus is God--we do not question that. However the Lord has three offices that He fills (as was pointed out). One of those offices is Prophet which was told via Moses in Deut 18:18-19. The proof is in John 4:44 where the term "prophet" is directly attributed to the Lord Jesus as one who would be without honor amongst His people. Steve |
||||||
2678 | Asking others for forgiveness | Matt 5:24 | srbaegon | 24378
Response................. Matt 5:23-24 gives a broad statement on what to do if you sin against another. Because the spouse has been sinned against with the adultery, forgiveness and reconciliation must be sought from the spouse. And that process will not be an easy one. Steve |
||||||
2679 | Isn't Prophecy a Spiritual Gift? | Isaiah | srbaegon | 24349
Protocol..................................... Casiv, When quoting another it is proper to acknowledge the source. To not cite that your posting came from Bullinger's "How to Enjoy the Bible" is disrespectful--and some would find it deceitful. Steve |
